  1. I see that some of you think the Jaws theme is unique. Listen to Le sacre du printemps (Part 1: The Adoration of the Earth) and you will hear familiar things. Swing, Swing, Swing is based on a temporary track by Benny Goodman and sounds almost identical. ---------------- Alex Cremers
  2. So, in a sense, during his prime Williams waisted his talents scoring popcorn movies like Jaws, Star Wars, Superman and Raiders. True of false? Hmmm, interesting. --------------- Alex Cremers
  3. How would you know? How can anyone tell??? We know nothing. ---------------- Alex Cremers
  4. Haha...Hahaha..........Hihihihihi.......Hohohohohoho...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHaHAHAHahem...ahem...ahem..haha...ahem...ahem...ha...ahemahem... ---------------- Alex Cremers
  5. Has anyone watched some of these selfmade Star Wars movies on this site? I started with Broken Allegiance which was kinda OK to look at but all the others I've downloaded are downright stupid or bad. What a waist of time. ---------------- Alex Cremers
  6. Besides the R&B band, what is TLC? ---------------- Alex Cremers
  7. Heartbeeps. ---------------- Alex Cremers
  8. Do you find that comedy sounding? ---------------- Alex Cremers
  9. I'll bet Shawn Murphy will be the recording engineer who has to capture the LSO in the same studio the Star Wars prequels were recorded. Ever think about that? ---------------- Alex Cremers
  10. Hey, that's right, I've forgot Nixon too, just like Steven did. I guess that album just doesn't stick out very well. But thank the Soundtrack Gods for JFK! What an album that is! ---------------- Alex Cremers
  11. That's blind optimism that's sure to be unfounded. Williams hasn't written for Indiana Jones for fourteen years. His style now and his style of the 1980s are quite different. I'm not so hopeful that the score to Indy 4 will be much of an improvement over his thematically superb Last Crusade score. You took the words out of my mouth. With TPM everyone has hoping for new "score supreme", a further testament of Williams' true talent, but when it came, alot of people trashed it. ---------------- Alex Cremers

    Confused.

Hmmm, you felt my sarcasm, didn't you. What you're saying is true for a "fresh Hollywood new kid on the block hired gun newbie" director but somehow diminishes the work of the legendary directors with personality, vision, power and influence. Orson Welles, Hitchcock, Truffaut, Kubrick, Scorsese, Spielberg, just to name a few. ---------------- Alex Cremers
  13. You made me into what I am! Oh, boy. There we go again.
  14. Thanks! 8O I didn't know about this site. Besides Batman (Dead End) I also watched one of the many Star Wars shorts. My admiration for Lucas has suddenly started growing again. But I'm having fun though. OTOH, at times these effects look pretty good. I know I couldn't pull that off. I'm gonna watch some more now, yeah!!! ---------------- Alex Cremers

    Confused.

Hey, seems simply enough. I can do that! There's even no reason for me to be on the set. Great!!! I just listen and say: "Wow, go ahead, man. That's a good idea! Tell me when it's finished and then I come over." Sure, I can do that! Where do I sign??? ---------------- Alex Cremers
  16. Fire Water Paper: A Vietnam Oratorio is the only Goldenthal CD I have. I was impressed at first but somehow I don't listen to it that much. I'm not really familiar with his movie scores. I do remember a super corny song at the end of Final Fantasy which made my stomach turn. Is that on the CD as well? ---------------- Alex Cremers
  17. Review from DVD Bulletin Look who he avoids the word horror. ---------------- Alex Cremers
  18. Williams revised the Violin Concerto. Whether it is better is difficult to say because in many aspects it's different than the one conducted by Leonard Slatkin. You really need both. ---------------- Alex Cremers
  19. Always and Always runs 19:05 instead of 3:41? Isabel's Horse and Buggy runs 8:08 instead of 1:28? Seems to me somebody is stealing someone's wrongly track lists. ---------------- Alex Cremers
  20. Oh, Emmerich is the lowest! He should team up with Golan and Globus (remember those two?). I only paid one ticket for an Emmerich flick and that was Star Gate. His other movies I picked up when they were free on TV. I can't describe my feelings about him. All I can do now is nod my head. Oh, Emmerich... ---------------- Alex Cremers
  21. That was more difficult than I thought. Empire of the Sun or E.T.? How do you choose? Heck, Empire of the Sun it will be. Aaah, weren't those 80s good for filmmusic? ---------------- Alex Cremers
  22. And after seeing a couple of more scenes from The Hulk last night it's getting furthermore obvious how CGI still has a long way to go and harder to believe how people can actually can enjoy this. ---------------- Alex Cremers
  23. It's probably me number one John disc! Haha, Funniest thing of the thread. ---------------- Alex Cremers
  24. Well, he used the emoticon so I guess he's in the clear. But still, it seems to me that there are two JoeinArs in this world, one "I love a good Popcorn movie because they don't make me think" kinda JoeinAr and the other one who's more like "I actually despise Popcorn movies because they insult my intelligence". Maybe by confronting him with this duality problem we might see a more uniform Joe in the future. ---------------- Alex Cremers
