  1. Kaminski for Schindler's List and Saving Private Ryan. They should earn a prize bigger then the Oscar. The Noble Prize for Cinematography :) !!! Spielberg really has an eye for talent. With Kaminski you can rest assure that the photography is going to be one of the best things of a new Spielbergo. All new Spielbergos, Indy 4 included.

However, Daviau is every bit as good as Kaminski. Pure poetry. Many scenes in Empire of the Sun are without equal. This is why I'm waiting so eagerly for a R2 DVD, hopefully taken from a new print, to fully enjoy Daviau's work.

In my opinion, Dean Cundey was a mistake. Both Hook and Jurassic Park are shallow and lack inspiration. Any Hollywood bloke can do this. I'm glad that's over.

I suspect Bill Butler is, in fact, Spielberg. Anyway, Jaws deserves a new print too. You feel the young Spielbergs' enthusiasm all over this movie. Great!

I wonder why they didn't do the full digitally restored business on the Spielbergos just like they did for Kubrick. All Kubrick movies look fresh and new. I have a feeling we'll soon be spending money once again on new picture improved Spielberg classics.

  2. I tried it. It's a VST plug that comes with a bunch of orchestral samples and an interface. It is not a sampler like Kontakt, Halion or Gigastudio. You can't load sounds other then those provided. I wasn't too impressed with the sounds of the Edirol. But for the money it's OK, I guess.

  3. How many Williams c.d's do you own?

About 70 legit CDs. Vinyl and CDRs not included.

Do you only get the film scores or/and the concert works.

Both. I value the concertworks very highly

Do you plan to eventually get everything?

I don't think so. Heck, I don't care for HP and I gave HP2 to my son because he's a fan too.

Do you get stuff you never even heard?

Yes, absolutely. And then I go see the movie humming along with the opening credits.

Do you have the various bootlegs that are floating around?

    Only 1 legit bootleg: Monsignor

    What's your "Prize Posession".

    Spacecamp, for the time being.

    What's your Holy Grail?

I think I have all the important ones.

Do you have some complete scores from rear channel DVD extractions?

    No.

Do you buy the Boston Pops c.d.'s?

Sometimes. Some I like, some I don't like.

Do you buy the Williams compilations by other orchestras?

    No, I guess.

What are any major holes in your collection?

I'm not a JP fan so I skipped The Lost World which I now regret because later I heard it was different.

AOTC Ultimate Edition which is not for sale, yet.

What do you plan on buying or aquiring in the near future?

The Horn Concerto. All Spielbergs, they use to be a sure thing although lately that changed a bit for me.

Are there certain types of Williams c.d.'s that you don't like and avoid even if they are available?(60's comedy scores,americana...)

Some Boston Poppers I really avoid.

Any major Williams scores(Star Wars,Indy,Superman,JP,Potter..ect...)you never heard on c.d. presention?

    AOTC which I'm not bying.

  4. I really meant the MP3 files. Sustain is looped and no natural decay. Dance music? Funk and Disco is dance music and they're not dead on. It was to mechanical like 100% robotic. I'm sure your pianist will sound different, both emotionally and sound wise and therefore will make my comments futile.

  5. These voice actors are simply the best. BTW, Homer has improved over the years. His voice was totally different in the first season. His voice is much funnier now.

I also think the guy that writes all the Simpson music is amazing. He instantly can make me stop laughing and care for Lisa. Mister Burns behind his desk with a musical quote from Imperial March is also very good.

  6. "Skywalker must not become a Jedi."

Yeah...they didn't show Revill's face (it was the combo of an English grandma and cat's or monkey's eyes).

So Revill was only credited for his voice, huh. I'll bet he's still saying that somewhere right now to impress some guy in a bar. "I was THE EMPEROR, man. I was..." Sure mister, I believe ya. Here, have another drink.

  7. And The Simpsons appreciate John Williams. The have been many references about him in the show.

That's right! There was this one time where he conducted an orchestra at the Hollywood Bowl, I guess it was.

Yes, they appreciate Williams, not Horner, not Goldsmith, but Williams and not Horner, nosirebob!

  8. Clive Revill did.  The keyword being "did".  I suspect that with the next Special Edition that Lucas is going to do after Ep III, it'll be McDiarmid from then on.  Clive Revill will be thrown to the Rancor just like "Lapti Nek" and "Ewok Celebration".

I can't remember but did the Emperor (Clive Redill) also speak in TESB?

    ----------------

Alex Cremers-who really needs to see TESB again because it's getting embarrassing but will wait until the Original Trilogy appears on DVD, if not, he will buy the laserdiscs transferred bootlegs.

  9. It's probably my number 1 show. The weird thing is though that no matter how funny it is, you can't retell the jokes, you really have to see it for it to be funny. Am I making sense?
