  1. Uncle Owen: "Luke, I'm shutting down for tonight!" You hear a French horn playing the theme of the Force. Somehow that moment is what Star Wars is all about. There are many more but I can only name one. --------------- Alex Cremers
  2. I dunno. Who's the jury? Is Williams going to listen too? What's in it for me? So many questions... ---------------- Alex Cremers
  3. Amusing options. I have casted my vote. By Jupiter, let them be sold separately! Know that I shall not invest in mediocrity. No more. ---------------- Alex Cremers-who wishes Raiders gets a nice restored print that's truly razor sharp unlike some other old Spielberg classics.
  4. I voted for the last option too. Not a difficult choise to make since I only liked the first one. The others were garbage just like the last three episodes in the SW series. With the decision of making yet another Indy, Spielberg shows that he's losing his touch. He wants to give people what they want and that is "Indiana Jones kicking butt". Harrison is getting too old for the job. Still I hope Spielberg pulls it off. I know Williams surely will. ---------------- Alex Cremers
  5. Neejahalicon, Why don't you get the real thing? I mean, eBay, shops, second hand stores, during traveling... . There must be something you can do. It not so rare. Some folks really ditch this sort of music without shredding a tear. ---------------- Alex Cremers
  6. I might... try this. Not... sure... yet. Must...know...more. Aaahhhh... ---------------- Alex Cremers
  7. Frosty asks: How would you do it? First of all I would hire a damn good screenwriter. Someone who sticks out or really got noticed in the last 10 years. I wouldn't trust my own writing skills. I would tell this man that, if my storyline is b*llsh*t , he should stand up and have the courage to say so, even though I'm this powerful director. I would make it very clear that I dislike people who are agreeing to everything I write. If I found out that my choice of certain actors could have been better(but it is too late and they have signed a contract for three films) and they gave me a wooden performance, I would simply ask them why their faces seem to be completely paralyzed and how we could improve on that. I would make changes in dialogue on the spot if I feel that they sound forced and unspontaneous. I would think twice of using so much computer generated images knowing that they actually will be outdated in 10 years when computers have become a hundred times better and faster. But already I know that I will redo all CGI when that time comes. Especially the characters will be totally redone, so don't get attached to them too hard. Oh yes, I would hire John Williams. He's good! ---------------- Alex Cremers
  8. "This Trilogy went to crap a WHILE back. There is not point in trying anymore. Personally I don't care if Lucas expands N' Sync's role in the next SW film to include a full fledged musical number with hunderds of CGI muppets. " LOL . And the funny thing is you almost expect it and wouln't be suprised if it did. (or is that a sad thing?) ---------------- Alex Cremers
  9. Actors like Lee and McDiarmid need little or no guidance on how to act. And that's what you need these days when you are working with computer generated images and have Lucas for a director who merely gives basic instructions. Hayden also did a pretty good job, I think. He showed some emotion and striked me as a normal young man who has to face difficult times and choices. The only thing against him is the script dialogue. Temuera Morrison as Jango Fett has the honour of being in the best scene of AotC when Ben visits him in his room. For me it's the only good scene in that movie, period. Damn, I wish George could maintain that tension a lot more then he did. Sometimes it seems so simple to make a decent Star Wars. We need new blood! ---------------- Alex Cremers
  10. To the guest Most posts on this board concerning George Lucas feel like this: However your posts, mystery guest, feel like this: 8O Cheer up or take your angry feelings elsewhere. --------------- Alex Cremers
  11. I once asked 4 year old kids which characters they liked and surprise...surprise...Jar Jar is hardly on their list. Think about it. He's not even funny to 4 year olds. Then what is his purpose? They do like a good lightsaber duel though! But that too was absent in AotC. What's left? --------------- Alex Cremers
  12. Indysolo wrote -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I know exactly what's going to happen. Baby Han Solo's spaceship will crashland on Kashyyyk and he'll be the only survivor. Then he'll be raised by the Wookie's, just like Tarzan! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LOL And Kevin, It helps if you stopped caring for Eppy 3. There's no more hope for that one. Not since...hmmm...I wonder....
  13. Boy, I can hardly wait for the thread: "Has anyone saw Return of the Jedi when it originally came out?" :spiny: Oh, it will be an Ewok massacre. Oh, oh, oh. --------------- Alex Cremers
  14. That's right, 500 copies. I have number 424! ---------------- Alex Cremers
  15. Because he's a living legend. If you were the director and went to Williams for a first listening session I'm sure all you can utter is...perfect! Would you have the balls to argue with let's say Paul McCartney in the flesh? No, you would't. Trust me. John became a legend because he is exceptionally good at what he does. Being a legend has gained him some power. Your movie would almost be guarenteed to qualify for an Oscar nomination, no matter what. Is that power enough for ya? --------------- Alex Cremers
  16. Funny, I was just thinking the same. Hey maybe it was Rick McCallum. Or some Sony guy. Damn! --------------- Alex Cremers
  17. Joeinar wrote: I think that it ranks and I used that term several ways right up there with A.I. and Hook as an extreme example of Spielberg stinking up the big screen. End quote. Joe, you forgot 1941. Nonono, you forgot it and yes, it's a real stinker. --------------- Alex Cremers
  18. As I have said before, I have no hope for Episode 3. George Lucas and fellowship just aren't the same people that made ANH and TESB. The screenplaywriters have changed, The special effects artists and methods have changed. John Williams's composing style has changed. And last but not least George Lucas, tha man, has changed. Or maybe he hasn't? I remember him saying that, if he had the technique, money and time, Star Wars would have been a different movie. By different he meant more of everything. More monsters and silly creatures, I'm sure. Boy were we lucky that Jabba didn't make it into the final print.( That luck changed too, ofcourse) Anyhow, times have changed and so did Star Wars. If you don't want it to die then SW should be franchise-able. Let ambitious new directors do their "thang". I wanna see daring other perspectives. I wanna see other approaches like a really dark Star Wars. Perhaps Ridley Scott should do one. What about an arty Star Wars? Afterall, after Episode 3, the possibilities are endless. __________ Alexcremers
  19. When it comes to energy and drive, Theme from Rocky is still amazing!!
  20. Quote: The reason why Superman is superior to Spider-man is because of what everyone has been saying: putting Reeve and Kidder on cables against a blue screen is far superior to seeing a superhero created 100% from ones and zeroes. End quote. That's right! What's next? Computer generated Darth Vader?
  21. Let put it this way: Is there anyone who truely believes that there will never be a Ultimate or Special edition of AOTC?. Have a good look at your collection before you answer this. Alexcremers: Who will only buy a Ultimate version of AOTC after learning his lesson with TPM.
  22. Hi Miguel Could you tell me a little bit about the performance and sound quality off the Trumpet and Tuba concertos? I mean, I have never heard of these record labels before. Thanks for your time Alex
  23. I choose the violin concerto on Varese Sarabande. It's my only favourit. Don't have trumpet concerto, tuba concerto, essay for strings. So i'm far from a completist. Should I own these? They are a bit hard to get in stores.
  24. Morlock wrote: Also- I don' think Aliem should be on the list of cult classics. It was, but had died out over the past decade. I still hear tons about 2001 and Star Wars, many people name them among the best movies of all times, but I havn't heard about alien in years. Also, how could an alien compare with villains like The Emperor, Darth Vader, or HAL-9000? End quote. Look at movies made before Alien(1978). This was the first SF-film that had a real to life, dark feel and a cinematographic vision and style that was innovative in those days and therefore acted as a model for many other movies to come. Also its theme, although not new, has been copied alot since then. A cult movie is a movie that has a strong following and caring by cinema audiences ans critics. I don't think Alien has lost its cult status just because it doesn't seem to appeal a large public the way Star Wars does. And if it has lost some then it is still a classic. You can't judge a movie by its villain alone.
  25. The Matrix has very much become a cult film...... You're right, Morn. I enjoyed that. But will it still be one after 10 or more years. We will have to wait and see. But I guess you're right.
