  1. I once asked 4 year old kids which characters they liked and surprise...surprise...Jar Jar is hardly on their list. Think about it. He's not even funny to 4 year olds. Then what is his purpose? They do like a good lightsaber duel though! But that too was absent in AotC. What's left? --------------- Alex Cremers
  2. Indysolo wrote -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I know exactly what's going to happen. Baby Han Solo's spaceship will crashland on Kashyyyk and he'll be the only survivor. Then he'll be raised by the Wookie's, just like Tarzan! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LOL And Kevin, It helps if you stopped caring for Eppy 3. There's no more hope for that one. Not since...hmmm...I wonder....
  3. Boy, I can hardly wait for the thread: "Has anyone saw Return of the Jedi when it originally came out?" :spiny: Oh, it will be an Ewok massacre. Oh, oh, oh. --------------- Alex Cremers
  4. That's right, 500 copies. I have number 424! ---------------- Alex Cremers
  5. Because he's a living legend. If you were the director and went to Williams for a first listening session I'm sure all you can utter is...perfect! Would you have the balls to argue with let's say Paul McCartney in the flesh? No, you would't. Trust me. John became a legend because he is exceptionally good at what he does. Being a legend has gained him some power. Your movie would almost be guarenteed to qualify for an Oscar nomination, no matter what. Is that power enough for ya? --------------- Alex Cremers
  6. Funny, I was just thinking the same. Hey maybe it was Rick McCallum. Or some Sony guy. Damn! --------------- Alex Cremers
  7. Joeinar wrote: I think that it ranks and I used that term several ways right up there with A.I. and Hook as an extreme example of Spielberg stinking up the big screen. End quote. Joe, you forgot 1941. Nonono, you forgot it and yes, it's a real stinker. --------------- Alex Cremers
  8. As I have said before, I have no hope for Episode 3. George Lucas and fellowship just aren't the same people that made ANH and TESB. The screenplaywriters have changed, The special effects artists and methods have changed. John Williams's composing style has changed. And last but not least George Lucas, tha man, has changed. Or maybe he hasn't? I remember him saying that, if he had the technique, money and time, Star Wars would have been a different movie. By different he meant more of everything. More monsters and silly creatures, I'm sure. Boy were we lucky that Jabba didn't make it into the final print.( That luck changed too, ofcourse) Anyhow, times have changed and so did Star Wars. If you don't want it to die then SW should be franchise-able. Let ambitious new directors do their "thang". I wanna see daring other perspectives. I wanna see other approaches like a really dark Star Wars. Perhaps Ridley Scott should do one. What about an arty Star Wars? Afterall, after Episode 3, the possibilities are endless. __________ Alexcremers
  9. When it comes to energy and drive, Theme from Rocky is still amazing!!
  10. Quote: The reason why Superman is superior to Spider-man is because of what everyone has been saying: putting Reeve and Kidder on cables against a blue screen is far superior to seeing a superhero created 100% from ones and zeroes. End quote. That's right! What's next? Computer generated Darth Vader?
  11. Let put it this way: Is there anyone who truely believes that there will never be a Ultimate or Special edition of AOTC?. Have a good look at your collection before you answer this. Alexcremers: Who will only buy a Ultimate version of AOTC after learning his lesson with TPM.
  12. Hi Miguel Could you tell me a little bit about the performance and sound quality off the Trumpet and Tuba concertos? I mean, I have never heard of these record labels before. Thanks for your time Alex
  13. I choose the violin concerto on Varese Sarabande. It's my only favourit. Don't have trumpet concerto, tuba concerto, essay for strings. So i'm far from a completist. Should I own these? They are a bit hard to get in stores.
  14. Morlock wrote: Also- I don' think Aliem should be on the list of cult classics. It was, but had died out over the past decade. I still hear tons about 2001 and Star Wars, many people name them among the best movies of all times, but I havn't heard about alien in years. Also, how could an alien compare with villains like The Emperor, Darth Vader, or HAL-9000? End quote. Look at movies made before Alien(1978). This was the first SF-film that had a real to life, dark feel and a cinematographic vision and style that was innovative in those days and therefore acted as a model for many other movies to come. Also its theme, although not new, has been copied alot since then. A cult movie is a movie that has a strong following and caring by cinema audiences ans critics. I don't think Alien has lost its cult status just because it doesn't seem to appeal a large public the way Star Wars does. And if it has lost some then it is still a classic. You can't judge a movie by its villain alone.
  15. The Matrix has very much become a cult film...... You're right, Morn. I enjoyed that. But will it still be one after 10 or more years. We will have to wait and see. But I guess you're right.
  16. Once again I was... a guest. Why don't I LOG IN!!! Alex - Who was just checking if he can make his name appear after logging in again.
  17. I think it's all gossip. I know Peter Jackson is smarter then this. BTW, if its true and he is planning a remake then not to worry, it's just only a idea, a plan. And we all know what that means in Motion Picture land. I would rather like Williams to do something really...totally different. Perhaps "Music for chamber orchestra "or "Pieces for a string quartet". (Remember or listen to Jane Eyre: Festivity at Thornfield)
  18. Oops, I forgot to log in.The above guest is me. Yes, I am the GUEST and always have been.
  19. Now you are talking. One of the most intimate scores Williams ever composed and this during his golden years!!! THE ACCIDENTAL TOURIST also has that quality. I have always hoped that John would write more music like this but unfortunately....
