  1. Hi everyone. I'm a long time reader, very occasional poster. Thought i'd reply to this. Confluence - Memoirs of a Geisha (I really think this is some of the most beautiful music i've ever heard) The Search For The Blue Fairy - A.I. (As an aspiring young writer, for some reason this peice inspires me more than any other) Auschwitz-Birkenau - Schindler's List ( Terrifying scene, with brilliant music to match, just so haunting) The Asteroid Field - The Empire Strikes Back (I truly believe this to be the most brilliant action cue in film history) Remembering Childhood - Hook (Pure magic) The was difficult, but i'm happy with my choices. Bye all
  2. So, what's the verdict ChrisAfonso? Is it the best script of the prequels? Hell, does it have the possibilites to match up to any of the OT movies?
  3. pretty sure, look at it for yourself. It's the illistrated version, and I'm almost 100% sure it's genuine.
  4. http://www.millenniumfalcon.com/phpbb/view...4695ec06e9e54d8 You can get it there. I've already downloaded it, but haven't read it...yet. It's so tempting. BTW, you have to scroll down and download it from the latest posting of the link to the "shareit" (or watever it is) website. Joel - testing his self control
  5. Its absolutely stunning. It's original, its different, its very fresh. I think it could easily become widely known as John Williams' best score for a whole decade, i honestly can't think of any score that conjured such magic, emotion and wonder on a whole with a first listen. The dry-spell is over. Buckbeak's Flight brought tears to my eyes and so many moments made me tingle all over. Joel-who is obviously head over heels with this score. And just like K.M., only POA threads mattered for me today, i even went to loads of other boards to discuss and to see what others thought of the score. The response seems to be that many people are very surprised by it, in a good way. SO HAPPY
  6. This is a beautiful score. Its so amazing and really very original and different from the previous HP scores. I am absolutely loving it. Its emotional, i reckon its by far the best score so far this year(almost definately). Well done Mr. Williams on creating a very original and magical score! Joel-very happy
  7. damn, i wanted to see it for the nudity of women, but if its got male nudity, not only is that daring, but it tourns me off wanting to see the film. I'll still see it regardless, i want battles, YAY! And it can't be as bad as Van Helsing, which i saw last night and walked out of the theatre feeling as though my IQ had dropped several points.
  8. Hey magical_me, are you in BLOC's "Jesus Christ Superstar" or in Lyric's "Chicago" because i live in ballarat too and i'm in JC this year. and i agree with magical_me that being an actor and working with all the cast, crew, sets, costumes ect. should be enough.
  9. Terrific trailer. I wasn't really very excited about this movie, but the trailer has changed that. I can't wait to see what Williams does, the film looks like it could produce a small, but charming score from him. That was my favourite part of the trailer, when the credits briefly rolled past at the end and they said "Music by JOHN WILLIAMS". Its great to see those words after a year and a half of dry spell. I can't wait to hear PoA and, now, The Terminal.
  10. I'm a little upset about the dursleys being cut, but its a thing which i will probably get used too. As for the remurs of where the film actually begins, i read that it will start at either the burrow or the quidditch world cup. Which could work quite well, all it really needs is that "it was good that we convinced your aunt and uncle to let you come with us" line. Still, i am a little dissapointed. BTW, HPFAN, weren't you saying that you were looking forward to GOF because Newell looked like he knew what he was doing. But i bet if cauron cut out the Dursleys, you would be going mental about it. Just commenting because i am dying to see that changes cauron makes with POA and i am more worried about GOF because i don't think Newell is a very capable director.
  11. HPFAN, why are you being so difficult? I don't understand. I cannot help but question your taste in directors and movies. All you do is complain and complain, you always say things which are EXTREMELY poorly backed-up and you are so pesamistic about the film that you don't even give it a chance. Every single peice of footage and every pic that comes out, you just HAVE say nothing but negative things. I'm sick of it to be honest. I find it incredibly annoying. Here is a quote from HPFAN on another topic: GIVE US A BREAK! We want to see this movie, you directly attacked our opinion when you said this! Well, now i'm attacking yours! I think what you have been saying is pointless and pessimistic! Too be honest, i feel so sorry for you, that you can't enjoy the hype with the rest of us. To be frank, if you aren't willing to give the film a chance, You don't deserve to enjoy it. All i can say is that it sucks to be you, because i can't wait to see what Cauron does with POA and i can't wait till the film is released. Joel-who (i'm truly sorry) had to get that off his chest
  12. I think that whole rumor about Naomi Watts being approuched for umbridge is so crap, i have no idea where these rumors come from or who makes them up. I read it on mugglenet, its just as bad as the rowen atkinson for voldemort. There isn't even a director for the 5th one yet. I reckon the 5th movie could be great, its my fav in the series at the moment, but it all depends on the script. I hope Kloves does a good job with it (presuming he stays with the project). I hope Cauron comes back to direct it, but are you guys serious when say the 5th one will suck? because if you are, i dont see which angle you are coming from. Joel-Dying for the third film and the soundtrack
  13. Crap. Sorry bout that delete the topic niel. (i dunno if i can)
  14. From CountingDown.com AHHHHHHHHHHHH! Re-work it HIMSELF!?!?!?!?! Please no! And Spielberg is letting him even though he loved it, may god help us. :micro: censored censored censored
  15. HPFAN, i think u should just relaaaaaaaax a little bit. Who cares if there's a shrunken head in the Kight Bus? Its in one scene and i doubt Kloves will turn it into a major plot point (he isn't that creative). Besides, i think its a good idea, it will add some humor to the scene, aparantly the head gives tips to people in the knight bus to avoid being hurt because of the bad driving. IMO, these things are welcome changes. J.K. Rowling, obviously has a great imagination. I believe, that to properly represent the feel and heart of the books, you need a director with a great imagination. Cauron looks like he has a good imagination. What with the addition of the choir, the shrunken head and i'm sure that there is a lot more, and i think it means that he can capture the magic of the books which columbus didn't. I hope he is artistic, most of being artistic is interpreting something, not COPYING IT! Columbus copied, Cauron is adding, changing and interpreting little things which he thinks will work in his movie. He is an artist. That's one reason i am VERY worried about Newman, he doesn't seem artistic at all, even columbus has a better track record than him. Look at LotR, there are so many differences to the book in the films. Characters have been changed (faramir), whole plotlines removed, characters deleted, HUGE conversations deleted and one of the things that so many LotR fans say about LotR is that it captures the heart and spirit of the books. The HP movies lack that spark that the books had, a spark which could have elevated these movies to the levels of "modern classics." The series still has that potential, i hope cauron fullfill's it. I love the first two movies, but after my first viewing of each one, i walked away feeling like something was missing, i think that something is the element of suprise. Was there one scene which had the element of surprise in it for being different from the books, something that perhaps wasn't in the books? No. I dont know about you, but i can't even name one. Not one scene which was truly inspired or suprising or just purely magical. POA has the potential to be a great peice of ART. Something you can either accept or reject. Thats the thing about art isn't it? the interpretaion may not be to taste of the one who is not willing to accept the artists opinion.
  16. Someone else on this board said in another topic, "there have been no masterpeices this year." I would have to agree to that statement, but i thought RotK was the closest thing to a masterpeice. The cinematography was amazing, the emotions were strong, it was exciting, sean astin gave a performance worthy of an oscar nod, the acting from the entire cast was good (not all great but none were bad) and everything was wrapped up very nicely. It is the best of the trilogy IMO and deserves best pic from the academy. I loved Mystic River, it was a very deep movie, but a movie with plot holes and bad ending does not deserve to win such awards apart from acting (Penn was exceptional). Master & Commander was great too, but it just didn't have that thing that made people say "WOW that was amazing!" Everyone i know says "yes, go see it, its a pretty good movie." Cold Mountain wasn't that good and did not deserve 8 Golden Globe nominations. Finding Nemo is one of my favourite movies of the year, i just dont think it will win anything apart from best animated feature, which is sad. LotR deserves best pic as well as a few other big oscars (best director ect.). Now as for Howard Shore winning the Golden Globe, i think he did deserve it. RotK is the best LotR score in the films (not on the CD) IMO. It sent shivers down my spine countless times and i thought it had the most feeling in it compared to the other LotR scores. I'm happy for Shore. Plus there was nothing that much better or any better than it this year, so it won fair and square.
  17. As much as I love all three films. I would have to say i think that the Last Crusade is my least favourite, merely because i find it the hardest to watch multiple times. I can sit through Raiders and TOD without any problems, but LC i find difficult to watch in one sitting.
  18. Damn. I was curious to see what Horner could do with such material. The trailer looks great IMO. This is a major blow, i was looking forward to a new epic Horner score.
  19. I havn't ever cried in a movie in my memory. Schindler's List came close, but i didn't drop a tear. I hope Return of the King can make me cry. I've heard people say that if you're a guy and you wanna keep your pride, you shouldn't go with your girlfriend because you might be embarrassed. I'm single at the moment so it doesn't matter for me, i wanna see if it can make me blubber into my popcorn. I am dying to see this movie. Diskobolus, do you reckon that you post a none spoiler review of the film? I am trying so desperately to stay away from spoilers, but i would love to hear you elaborate on your opinions.
  20. I'm not sure how reliable this is, but if it proves to be true, i reckon i'm gonna throw up. :micro:
  21. I think the trailer looks brilliant and i think the movie will rock. I was looking forward to it before, this trailer has raised the bar of my excitement. I think it will be much more artistic and creative then the other movies. Joel-who thinks the posibilities are high that Cauron could make a 'modern classic' movie with POA.
  22. I also thought the trailer felt very different from the first 2 movies, i think the fact that it has such a prominant Choral and Lyrical peice also shows difference. The first films had choral music, but not really lyrical and nothing really as focused on as this peice. Another thing which i think looks different is the cinematography, which is much better in my opinion. I thought cinematography was very much overlooked in the first two films. This one seems to have much more scenery and a more epic, grand feel. Even though i loved the previous HP movies, I think this one looks much better.
  23. This trailer is brilliant. I think the music sounds very Williams-ish as well. There are a few fans who are saying "i hate the choir, it wasn't even in the book." Personally, i think that its about time the movies became more original and have some differences from the books, even though i love the first 2 movies, this one is looking much more artistic. I am thanking Cauron for that. I dont know for sure where the choir scene would go, but i think it would go well with the Halloween night. Remeber on Halloween, thats the night sirius black attacks the fat lady, can you imagine how great it would be to have this choir singing and the attack on the fat lady intercutting with one another and the music being played as the soundtrack for the whole scene. It would be great and very dramatic. Thats what i want from this movie, some great dramatic and chilling moments and it looks like i'm going to them. Joel-Amazing Trailer!!!
