  1. This thread is absolutely ridiculous. And the fact that you people are acting being such jerks to whomever thinks that this thread is wrong makes me sick, seriously. I'm all for having threads every once and a while that have no purpose and are just for talking, but the fact that this one started off the way it did is insane.

-Jason, who's getting turned off to some people's behavior

Sadly, Jason, I feel that this is futile. No one's really listening to us, so I guess we should leave them to their own devices. And by posting on this thread continually, we're giving satisfaction to the insecure attention-craving people who started it. I'm done on here, much to the delight of everyone else, and I would encourage you to do the same. That is, if you want to of course.

  2. Dear God, you think I don't understand what dfferent words mean? The fact that off topics are discouraged would imply to me that people shouldn't post them. And don't bitch about being offended and preach that sexuality should be discussed openly. Fine. But it has no place on a John Williams message board. That's like getting mad because someone doesn't want sex talked about at a family birthday party. There's nothing wrong with it in general, it just doesn't belong here. The hypocrisy on this board is incredible. "Your posts MUST be on topic and contribute SIGNIFICANTLY to the discussion, unless they're posted by an "elder" and about sexual habits. " VERY sad indeed.

  3. I agree with everything that's been said here (if it's Williams, it's must-have), but I would like to add Home Alone. It is a wonderful, wonderful score, ecpecially for the Christmas season. Somewhere in my Memory and Star of Bethlehem are priceless holiday themes, and the rest of the score is just as good. Also, no one has mentioned The Patriot. I would consider this a must-have, but many would disagree. It all comes down to personal opinion of course. Another very nice compilation album is Williams on Williams: The Classic Spielberg scores.

  4. I would go in shake his hand and thank him for letting me see him. Sign a few things (my trumpet wouldn't be a bad idea) and get a picture of us two signed. Talk a little music with him and tell him my friend Ray is responsible for me really liking his music (just to give Ray some notice). Then I'd thank him again and leave.

Thanks buddy! I forgot to mention that I would also tell him he should check us out sometime here at JWFAN.net. I bet he would be quite interested, especially in some of the more, er, "unique" topics.

  5. Quote:

I don't think masturbation is an appropriate topic

Why not? It's sex with somebody I love.  (thank you Woody Allen for that one)

    Not that anyone cares, but:

03 - STAY ON TOPIC as much as possible. Discussions concerning music, movies, technology, the internet and other related topics are allowed within reason. Topics completely unrelated to the aforementioned are discouraged

  6. Seriously, I agree. I mean, I don't have a problem with topics like these in general, but there are young people here, and I don't think masturbation is an appropriate topic, especially for a John Williams mesage board.

  7. Some of my favorite cues:

    Flight to Neverland/Prologue, Hook

The very beginning of these two pieces are fantastic, whether played by strings or winds, they really have a mystical feel.

    March from 1941

The peppy trumpet part that is first heard at 0:40, and appears many more times throughout the piece.

    Summon the Heroes

The driving part heard at 4:35. Gives me goosebumps!

    E.T.

Any time the Flying Theme bursts into full glory.

    Harry Potter

3:36 into Harry's Wondrous World, when the Hogwarts theme is so majestically played.

    Attack of the Clones

When the trumpet picks up the main Arena theme.

  8. **Spoilers**

I don't see how Spider-Man's characters are more one-dimensional than AOTC's. For me, there was great chemistry between Peter and Mary Jane, as well as the other characters. I really felt that they acted suberbly, and that their characters were well developed. AOTC was really lacking in this sense. Anakin and Padme's dialogue was mostly forced sounding and dripping with melodrama. They had no chemistry that I could see. The only part about their love that is tolerable is the wedding, where there is no speech. About the Green Goblin, I agree, he was laughable, but that's at least partly the way it's supposed to be. I mean the guy's insane, he's gonna sound stupid. I'd rather have a corny comic book type villain than a laughable love story that's meant to be dead serious. Seriously though, I understand where you're coming from - like you said, that's just me. :music:

  9. That's cool! We played Olympic Fanfare and Theme last week at our band concert, and at graduation we'll be playing a John Williams arrangement including E.T., The Mission Theme, Imperial March, Star Wars Main Title, Cantina Band, Olympic Spirit, and Jaws. Good times!
