Ray Barnsbury got a reaction from heidl in williams getting old
Hah! I can just see him thinking one day, "Why don't I use my grandson's computer so see about this lovely JWFan.net I was made aware of in that card from Boston" and then stumbling upon this thread or a "How Will JW Die?" poll.

Ray Barnsbury got a reaction from Garrett in The Patriot: William's best in last 5 years?
I love the Patriot. I don't think it's his best in the past 5 years, but definitely up there (for me).

Maybe they thought it would be easier to copy your work then start from scratch 😂.
Â
Was that the only source cue? Was there not one or two at Saw's hideout?
That's true, Mike hasn't said that Williams himself is against it, if everyone knows and wants it to happen, something is preventing it though. Was being more hyperbolic saying it was Williams himself though standing in the way.

Ray Barnsbury reacted to Tom Guernsey in What Is The Last Score You Listened To? (older scores)
I know... I stand by my comments, however. :-P
The Three Musketeers (Bruce Broughton) - Broughton's score is fun, but the songs based on famous classical works are pretty cheesy (don't get me wrong, I love both classical music and cheese) although the interjections from (I think) classic Korngold and Steiner scores are quite fun. One of those cases where the composer did what he was asked, but a proper swashbuckling Three Musketeers would be pretty great. Alas this is probably about as close as we're likely to get.

Thanks to Jason, Quintus and all the other hard worker bees...organizing more than 3 people is always a chore. And all the best to the rest of the gang. From what I’ve heard the Maestro is still eager to come to Vienna next year, so that’s a class reunion then, maybe!

Any concerns that it would be a cancellation fest were immediately put to bed upon arrival. It was absolutely packed.

Thanks, Lee & Steef for organising this! We need more events like this, there were too many people and too little time. I also had no idea that Inky was there - and who knows who else I missed?

Here's the full thing, including my own, horribly inarticulate, bit. Would anyone have a problem with me putting that up on the net (e.g. Facebook, Twitter)?

Ray Barnsbury reacted to Nick1Ø66 in The Wishing John Williams a Speedy Recovery thread...
Dear Johnny,
Â
I was so sorry to hear about your health problems.
Stay in London and away from work as long as you need to. A "speedy recovery" is overrated. You must have rest.Â
And by all means, please let me know if you need anything.
Â
Sincerely,
Â
John Powell

Ray Barnsbury got a reaction from DarthDementous in The 2nd OFFICIAL Indy IV Score Thread
If you believe that Han and Leia were just friends, that Buckbeak is a bird Harry flew on in the fourth movie, and that a lion is a tiger, then sure, take Williams' word for it.

Ray Barnsbury got a reaction from DarthDementous in The 2nd OFFICIAL Indy IV Score Thread
Well, I just finished listening and overall I think it's pretty great. There are some slower moments, but there are a lot of amazing, "Williams magic" parts that I wasn't expecting. The newly arranged end of the credits had me giddy, it's just what I was hoping for with the march and shows great inspiration on Williams' part (as opposed to all the rehash in RotS, for example). More thoughts to come later, though I will say that I think it's way too early to be ranking this as definitively better or worse the other scores. It takes time for something like this to sink into its place in the series, and no real judgments should be made anyhow until we hear it in the film.

Ray Barnsbury got a reaction from TownerFan in James Horner 1953-2015
Heartbreaking news, and more deeply affecting than I might have thought. You kind of prepare yourself for this with someone of Williams' age, but I never considered what it would be like to mourn the loss of James Horner. He had become one of my top two or three absolute favorites, particularly over the last five years or so. Even in his most routine scores, there was always something to enjoy. And at best, he soared to heights few could match. I'm just grateful there are still a good number of his works I have yet to discover.
Listening to some of his many great pieces today has been a comfort, as has reading the words in this thread.
Rest in peace, Mr. Horner, and thank you.
