  1. Anyone know what the chronological order is of the tracks on the Munich soundtrack? I can;t seem to place them, and I do plan on seeing the film this week but would like to watch it and not try and pick out the cues. Thanks
  2. I haven't yet seen the movie, but I have the soundtrack, and I can tell right away that they are not in order. Does anyone know waht the correct order is of the tracks to the best of there knowledge? Thanks
  3. Larger trailer is up now, including ones in HD: http://www.apple.com/trailers/universal/munich/
  4. The poster for the film looks pretty good as well: I like the tagline. Pretty chilling...
  5. Mark Hamill as The Joker? Wow, some people need to get off there Star Wars fix. It will be at least 2 years minimum before the next Batman hits theaters, and Hamill will be pretty old by then. I'm sure they would want a more familiar and marketable actor than him. He has only the Star Wars films to his credit really, and though he may do a good job, he deonst fit the persona of a psycho villain at all. It wiould be a very awkward and miscasted part, and I'm sure the majority of the movie going public would agree. (the public outside of this forum that is)
  6. Uh, yea, it "only" made $15 million on opening day when compared to the other films, but lets look at the figures: Heres how the past 4 films performed, in millions: Batman: Opening ($40) Overall ($251) Batman Returns: Opening ($45) Overall ($160) Batman Forever: Opening ($52) Overall ($185) Batman & Robin: Opening ($42) Overall ($107) Of course, this is just stateside alone. How does WB feel about it: http://www.variety.com/article/VR111792459...13&cs=1&s=h&p=0 Now look at past Wednesday openings, from boxofficemojo.com: Rank Title / Studio / Opening Day / % of Total Theaters / Average Date Total Gross 1 Spider-Man 2 Sony $40,442,604 10.8% 4,152 $9,741 6/30/04 $373,585,825 2 The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King NL $34,450,834 9.1% 3,703 $9,303 12/17/03 $377,027,325 3 Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace Fox $28,542,349 6.6% 2,970 $9,610 5/19/99 $431,088,301 4 The Passion of the Christ NM $26,556,573 7.2% 3,006 $8,835 2/25/04 $370,274,604 5 The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers NL $26,159,972 7.7% 3,622 $7,223 12/18/02 $339,789,881 6 The Matrix Revolutions WB $24,311,365 17.5% 3,502 $6,942 11/05/03 $139,313,948 7 Jurassic Park III Uni. $19,024,360 10.5% 3,434 $5,540 7/18/01 $181,171,875 8 Men in Black II Sony $18,599,621 9.8% 3,557 $5,229 7/03/02 $190,418,803 9 The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring NL $18,214,211 5.8% 3,359 $5,423 12/19/01 $313,364,114 10 Independence Day Fox $17,406,144 5.7% 2,880 $6,044 7/03/96 $306,169,268 11 Batman Begins WB $15,068,368 100.0% 3,718 $4,053 6/15/05 $15,068,368 And this is a wednesday opening. Word of mouth has been amazing for this film, and this film will likely top $100 million by weekends end, and maybe wash away the stains from Batmans 1-4. The 10 other films in the list averaged ~$200 million I'm guessing for the domestic total. Neither of the past 3 Batman film mananged over $200 million, but based the past wednesday openings, and how this film has been doing, not only will it pass the past 4 films, but also be one of the year's biggest hits. And this film underperformed Wed.? Man, some people just don't know jack................. :?
  7. Why not nominate ROTS while were at it? Its halfway through the year, no one has even seen it yet. I have a poll...... Are there too many needless polls around?
  8. A very good job in my opinion. The film version of Battle of the Heroes is well done in editing. Although some of the sfx do take over a bit in the opening the majority of the middle is free of dialogue and sfx, whihc includes some of the best music.
  9. Far and Away Born on the Fourth of July JFK
  10. "I Could Have Done More" - Schindler's List "Reunion" - A.I. How bout a few non-williams scores? Maybe a change of pace, but there are quite a few that come to mind for me...... "End Credits" - Glory and Braveheart "Crucifixion" - Passion of the Christ "The Grey Havens" - LOTR: ROTK
  11. I would say, and I am being generous: Visual Effects Sound Effects Sound Effects Editing No performance from this film could possibly get a nomination by a long shot, unless they killed off all other competition in Hollywood, and even then it would only be for the sake of holding an awards show. McDiarmids role was good, but far from Oscar worthy. I think fans are really over rating his performance and all to eager to heap praise on it. Villains typically don't get nominations simply because there acting is often too hammy or so over the top that it borders on just plain silly. Based on the kind of dialogue this film has, we're talking Razzies, not Oscars. It's pretty difficult to judge good acting when you're stnad out "actor" is a 3 foot tall green digital image. The acting and dialogue are too wooden and weak to support a stand out performance. Look at the past few years when Oscar nominations are even announced. Most of hte films are released in the 4th quarter of the year, as far as films that vie for Picture, actor, screenplay, actress and the majopr awards. Technical awards typically are nominated to bigger budgeted films with technical credits. To say that a Star Wars film is worthy of any kind of Best Acting award (Alec Guinees aside, and even then) is someone who has not yet gotten a full grasp of the wide range of what a great performance truly is. How can you act when all of your sets and cast is mostly CGI? There is no craft involved, and it makes delivery that much more distracting when FX steal the show. I doubt very, very much this will even see the possiblity of an Oscar nomination. I love William's work to death and all, but there is not enough original material here to work with, with too many recycled themes and previously used tracks. The last two films didn't get nominations and they were not bad, and this film barely makes the mark above TPM. Plus, it is "Best Original Score", not "Best Original Score based on mostly previosuly used material." I have doubts this would even be eligible for consideration based on what I have heard in the film. Look at the end credits alone. They used more than half recycled material from the previous films. If some of Williams past works did not get wins, let alone nominations, then how could this one possibly do one better, even when you have true Star Wars fans saying that this effort is pretty weak? Sure, some will defend to the death the score and love it in all its glory, and thats fine. But it all sounds different to everyone and depends on how you see it in the film itself. I for one thought it was fine and fit the film well, but did not walk away with any memorable themes anything that struck me as significant. Besides that, nothing else in the film seems worthy of Oscar consideration. How can you even think to nominate costume design when half the visible cast is CGI? That makes no sense at all. Production design too, when all the sets are CGI. Same with Cinematography and editing. It is a technical stand out, but so were the other films for there time. Sure the music sounds good, but when you put $150 million into a film, what do you expect? Especially when you have a great composer and orchestra This is an effects driven film you must remember. I can not remember a sci fi or effects heavy film receiving an Oscar nomination for acting honors that deserved it. I mean, the last two Star Wars films received Razzy nominations across the board. This one may be spared that fate, but it seems the only thing that improves with time is the level of FX they can come up with, not the acting. A rather long post, but I just think that this thread was created after having seen the film and someone was all to eager to give the film more credit and accolade than it should have. We all know where the merit and awards truly lie, which is where they have been in the previous 5 films. Music aside, these are effects driven fantasy films, and are techincal stand outs, nothing else. I honestly cannot possibly say: How can you possibly judge a film based on a "trailer" and "music video" that it can even get those nominations, even though you have not seen the film? And you confidently proclaim too. I hope you would not stand by those thoughts the rest of the year, but also take th time to look at other films that will clearly demonstrate where creative talent in those areas truly lies. Granted these are your "predictions", but you must know little or nothing about how marketing and film awards work, because that is how they want you to think, that a trailer that shows 2 minuts of footage will determine the entire film. Remember Pearl Harbor? Alexander? Troy? Kingdom of Heaven? Even the last two Star Wars films? Didn't they all look good in trailer form, and people thought they would be huge blockbusters? I rest my point. Don't be so easy to hand out judgment on a film just because it is Star Wars. The traile hardly seels the film for me, it never has. I have seen all kinds of trailer,s each more over the top than the last and each trying to hit you hard with effects, music, and sound. And guess what? The finished product typically can never deliver. Once the hype dies down and people settle down after having seen it, they will realize that they were a little overzealous in there initial opinions and realize that it is after all just a movie, not matter how great it seems at first.......
  12. Kingdom of Heaven.......... Just saw the film and have been listening to the soundtrack, and the film doesn't coincide with the current track listing. Anyone have any thoughts?
  13. A superb soundtrack, much better than Zimmer's work in Gladiator by a long shot. It doesnt have the bombast or recurrent themes that brought the music down, but instead uses much more variety in terms of themes and is more restrained than most epic soundtracks, something I rather enjoy after seeing Troy and Alexander. I also didn't mind the use of the Vide Cor Meum track during the death of King Baldwin in the film. It was well used and a rather emotional scene too. It was an opera, "Dante's La vita nuova" written by Patrick Cassidy so it isn't just exclusive just to that film. I have heard a few people complaining on other sites about it use in this film, but liked the addition. As for the use of other material from the 13th Warrior, I couldn't say for certain which scene it was used it, but it sounded liked it was used during the Seige of Jerusalem. I myself couldn't pick up on it, and doubt 99% of the people who go to see the film will either, so we should drop the sticks and quit beating the horse. Also the best soundtrack to be out this year so far. I found it to be very emotional and compelling, and a much better listen than ROTS, which seemed pretty disjointed and lacking is substance. It will likely sound better in the film, but on album it just doesn't cut it.
  14. I found these sites here that offer quite a bit of threads and posts on differing topics of track sequences and chronological order. Maybe a few are there that some people have been looking for..... http://www.moviemusic.com/cgi-bin/mb/Ultim...passCookie=true http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/home.asp
  15. Any idea on Children of Dune?? A great score that is clearly out of sequence.
  16. Anyone have any thoughts on the ones mentioned above???

  18. I also recently found a link with pics from the movie also, some of them not available in the trailer or anywhere else that I have seen: BEWARE: SPOILERS!!! Sorry, I decided to get rid of this one as well..........
  19. Here are a number of links to the trailer: Sorry, someone advised me that I remove these links.
  20. I'm still looking for a few of the following scores' chronological order: Seabiscuit The English Patient Training Day (42 track complete Score Academy Promo) The Aviator Empire of the Sun The Green Mile The Last Samurai The Mask of Zorro The Passion of the Christ Road to Perdition
  21. Still trying to find the order for some of the scores I mentioned above. Anyone have any ideas yet?
  22. I was wondering about Gettysburg as well, and haven't a clue what order the tracks go in. :? Does anyone have any idea on any of the others I mentioned above?
  23. Here are a few I was wondering about if anyone has any idea, please let me know. I recently found a site that had the chrono order of U-571 and The Village listed. Here it is: U-571 Opening/U-571 Attacks Pier Intro Material Office S-33 Leaves Port Enigma Photo/Swastika Lock and Load Taking the U-571 Searching Below S-33 Sinks Sub Battle Picking Up Survivors Restarting the U-571 Destroyer Battle Tyler's Torpedo Plan Going to 200 Meters Big Leaks Tyler Picks Trigger U-571 Rises/Trigger Struggles U-571 Surfaces Chase Finale and Dedication End Credits #1 Quiet Theme (End Credits #2) The Village Rituals Race to Resting Rock The Bad Color The Forbidden Line Those We Don't Speak Of Noah Visits I Cannot See His Color What Are You Asking Me? The Shed Not to Be Used It is Not Real The Gravel Road Will You Help Me? The Vote Heres a link that has several posts on chronological order of tracks. If more people contribute, we could get alot of these scores knocked out! http://www.soundtrackcollector.com/forum/d...hp?topicid=3230 Here are a few soundtrack I have been curious about as far as track listing. Does anyone have any ideas?? I think we should get a post going on whihc soundtracks are in the incorrect order on there CDs and see if anyone knows them. I know I for one enjoy listening to soundtracks in the order of the film they were in, not in the order the company believes they should be in. In my mind, that ruins the listening expereince to have them out of order. Seabiscuit The English Patient Training Day (42 track complete Score Academy Promo) The Aviator Empire of the Sun The Green Mile Shawshank Redemption The Last Samurai The Mask of Zorro The Passion of the Christ Road to Perdition
