Sorry. But I am getting a little tired of these 90% always same concert programs on Deutsche Grammophon CDs. No matter how good the orchestras are.
That reminds me a little of the time when Pearl Jam were publishing tons of bootlegs of almost all their concerts.
Something like that is a great souvenir for those who were there. Or for people who don’t already own other concert recordings. But I already have enough. I am out for this.

How wonderful would it be to get an album of JW's Star Wars music written or adapted for the parks? You could include:
Star Tours 2.0 queue (Ross) Star Tours 2.0 queue (Giacchino) Original Star Tours ride music (Bellis) Original Star Tours exit music (Bellis) Hyperspace Mountain (Ross) Galaxy's Edge (JW's suite) Galaxy's Edge lightsaber building music (Ross) Galaxy's Edge entrance music (Kerber) Any other Galaxy's Edge recordings by Ross (e.g. for the rides and show moments) Disneyland Band SW medley There's got to be more. Maybe the main theme excerpt as recorded for Remember...Dreams Come True?

    Anyway, I'd buy it!

JOHN BRUCE YEH PERFORMS MIDWEST PREMIERE OF JOHN WILLIAMS' CONCERTO FOR CLARINET   On Monday February 5 at 7.30pm Central Time, at the Auditorium Theatre in Chicago, IL, clarinetist John Bruce Yeh will perform the Midwest premiere of John Williams' Clarinet Concerto with the Chicago College of Performing Arts Symphony Orchestra conducted by Emanuele Andrizzi. The program also features music by Timothy Corpus and Howard Hanson. More info at roosevelt.edu/events/ccpa-symphony-orchestra-concert-2   Free performance––no reservations required. The event will also be livestreamed on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/live/Z2NaXuPU2Zk   In addition to be on Artist Faculty at the Chicago College of Performing Arts, John Yeh is Assistant Principal Clarinet and Solo Eb Clarinet of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and performed in several live concerts conducted by John Williams in the city.   Williams' Clarinet Concerto premiered in 1991 and was composed for the LA Phil's then-Principal Clarinet Michele Zukovsky and has been rarely performed since then. Don't miss the chance to listen to a wonderfully buoyant concert work from Maestro Williams performed by a great virtuoso of the instrument.   https://www.facebook.com/thelegacyofjohnwilliams/posts/pfbid0337cd7BCWDT1vX8xevotc339dp8rpuGrKdzyxcTjERLnpo2DnHiU46pyJvXHyaM8il

I just saw the "25 years" story posted on JWFan's Twitter and thought I would drop in to say hi. I used to be active on the forum about 12 years ago. I just checked my profile and my last post was just a few days before my first child was born.   Needless to say I was busy for a little while and never made it back here, other than to do research once or twice.

Anyway, congrats on 25 years and maybe I'll dip my toe back into the forum a bit ...

The forum software changed a few times until the IPBoard version launched in May 2002.  The old posts and accounts couldn't be imported into it, so everyone started anew that day.

JWFan was born 25 years ago today!

Hard to imagine back then that the site would still be up and running two and a half decades later, let alone that the Maestro would still be active after having composed nearly thirty more film scores and a similar number of concert works, as well as conducting over 200 concerts including Vienna, Berlin, Milan and Japan!

Dozens of his film scores have received perfect releases during all this time, providing fans with the confidence that many more will come in the future, while maintaining and further enhancing the collective appreciation and admiration for the music we all love and which will remain with us for the rest of our lives.

The analysis and discussion of his work has reached such level of comprehensiveness and detail, that our forums have become an essential reference for fans and scholars, while fomenting the creation of fascinating projects that expand and deepen the study of the Maestro’s oeuvre and contribute to increasing its appreciation by future generations who, without doubt, will continue to ensure that his name is in the place it deserves in the history of music and cinema.

Thank you, Mr. Williams, and thanks to all those who have contributed during this time to make the site such a wonderful place. Here’s to 25 more!

It is quite easy to compare and to hear what is better.

But I am sure Göransson's music sheets are worthy burning in John Williams' chimney and warming his feet on a long witer evening.

Given the state of CD releases I'd guess most instrumental composition winners aren't easily (or at all) available on CD.

IMHO I think Robertson has a bigger chance to get the Oscar than Goransson because:

    (a) Goransson already has one, and
    (b) Robertson's death (who has no wins) may trigger the sympathy vote.

    But I digress...

Woohoo!  I love this category, and I love that they so frequently honor film pieces in it.  That's an even dozen for Johnny, although I have to say, giving it to "Angela's Ashes" over "The Egg Travels" from Dinosaur was a cryin' shame.  But then again, skunking Hedwig was an equally cryin' shame, so I guess it's a dozen either way.

P.S. Your humble correspondent had the dubious honor of adding Johnny's name to the chart on this category's Wikipedia page!

It's really great, isn't it? I know enough about Williams's style of interviewing that a) his responses are often a little rehearsed and massaged and b) this one really does capture his incredible autobiographical memory and poetic sensibility towards his life and art.

Also, I didn't know he remembered that the SW opening title initially began with that tiny run up! Who else remembers first listening to the "secret" track on the ANH Special Edition in 97 and just being blown away?!
