Erik Woods reacted to Tydirium in John Williams receives 54th Oscar nomination for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny!
Huh? Genuinely puzzled by this. The award isn’t for the composer who reaches/tops their previous work; it’s for the best score of a given year… It’s entirely possible for JW to write a score that “doesn’t reach the heights of his most classic works,” and for that score to still happen to be better than the other contenders...

    1.  Kathleen Kennedy, the executive producers, writers, and directors of the canon works (films, shows, novels, games, comics), all members of the Lucasfilm Story Group, Dave Filoni, Jon Faverau

    2.  My interpretation is that the story and grander intent of Star Wars has remained consistent, even with the newest installments. There was always a grand plan, and Kathleen Kennedy is seeing it through. Any who believe otherwise have an objectively incorrect interpretation of the story... and might be putting too much stock in the Lucasfilm-designed artifice meant to keep the masses distracted from their real  plans.

    3.  Considerable thoughtfulness was required to escape the doldrums of disenchantment and ignorance. I managed to expand my interpretation beyond a relative surface-level. I believe in this 'space soap opera children's story' because I think it was intended to teach its audience valuable life lessons and universal truths... not only to 12-year-olds.

Why do you think Star Wars doesn't have a message based in grander areas of thought or belief? George Lucas has been abundantly clear that he designed his story from these-type works of the past. Perhaps you can let me know what so many have trouble with:

What do you think is the story of Star Wars?

@Mattris, serious question for you and the other Star War experts here.

What's the deal with Vader sitting at a fully set out dinner table on Cloud City and saying that he and Boba Fett would be honoured if Solo, Leia and Chewy joined him?

Was the dinner table set up specifically for this occasion? Did Vader set it himself?
Did they actually have dinner? What was served? Was there dessert? Did they consider Chewy's dietary needs? Was Endorian tusked-rodent served?
If it was just a ruse, why bother with the dinner table at all?

    Discuss.

@Chen G. & @Schilkeman, feel free to weigh in also.

That's not a cue, its a track, comprised of three cues
    0:00-1:58 = 12M6/13M1    Space Battle 1:58-4:28 = 13M2    Vader's Death 4:28-end = 13M3    Through the Flames

Gee, I wonder who helped get The Monkey King released.  That's right... film music critics who gave the score much-needed promotion on their web sites/podcasts. Only after seeing/hearing those positive reviews and interest  in the score was it deemed important enough to release to the public... BOTH original score AND the sequel.

All positive and negative opinions on music and media are welcome!  Just don't make being negative your entire persona.  That seems fair to me!

And yeah, doing it in an Appreciation Thread was a big no-no!  Violations in those specific threads have always been treated significantly more swiftly and severely!

I was super happy to get the 2 Disc edition of this score for Christmas this year and wow am I happy with it.

These scores always seemed like the more sophisticated bigger sibling to Bear's Masters of the Universe work which I seem to keep spinning over and over again so I'm down for as much of both properties he wants to give us... and that Gladrials theme, I swear won't get out of my head since this score dropped in 2022. So every time I want to get some Gladrial Theme hit in my system that Sheet @Jay did with all the theme placements has been my guide!

Yeah, he personally attacked Erik Woods, and it's far from the first personal attack he's posted on these forums.  And yeah, it was just 48 hours.  He's completely free to post again now - following the rules, just like the rest of us!

As the rules state, there's nothing wrong with posting negative opinions, but when 95% of a person's posts are negative, that IS against the rules.  That's the way it is!  Find positive things to say in this hobby we're all here to celebrate together, instead of only negative things!  And don't attack other members who feel differently about some music than you do!

Pretty sure he was mainly banned (actually a two day suspension, right?) for suggesting that another prominent user here was some kind of insincere shill. That's a personal attack, not just negativity.
