  3. If Williams had not been asked or if a good score by Doyle means no more JW Harry Potter scores, I would want this to be the worst score of all time. Otherwise, I hope it is brilliant!
  4. I would HIGHLY recommend Cantata for the 20th Anniversary of the October Revolution. If you like Alexander Nevsky you will love it. I think it is even more powerful. It requires the most mammoth assembly of performers that Prokofiev ever wrote for. (James Horner stole "The Philosophers" movement for the main title and end credits to RED HEAT [no credit given on album or on film]). The recording to get is the one conducted by Neeme Jarvi on the Chandos label.
  5. Doug Adams confirms the track titles here: http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/post...umID=1&pageID=2 He says almost all the alternate music is already out on the original 2001 album:

  11. Speaking of Zander...you can download his entire recording with the The New England Conservatory Youth Philharmonic Orchestra of Mahler's Symphony No. 5 at his website. http://www.benjaminzander.com/recordings/nec.asp Abbado's recording with the Berlin Philharmonic of Mahler's Symphony No. 8 is another outstanding performance and recording.
  12. For me, John Williams is the greatest living composer and my favorite film composer of all time.
  13. Hoosiers was called The Best Shot in the UK. I know this because I bought the import CD .
  14. I've heard some people say if Shakespeare were alive today, he would be writing for Hollywood. I think the same can be said of composers like Beethoven and especially Mozart. If they were alive today, they would be composing film scores. I think it is safe to consider John Williams one of the greatest composers of film scores of the last 30 years, if not THE GREATEST (which is what I think). Over time, I can see suites from some of John Williams scores becoming part of the concert repertoire of symphony orchestras around the world like Lt. Kije and Alexander Nevsky by Prokofiev and Henry V by Walton. Orchestral music is currently not mainstream especially in American culture and I do not expect it to be in 95 years. However, I do feel that the music of John Williams will be "mainstream" in symphony concerts in 95 years. His music is just too good to ignore.
  15. Definitely he will be remembered. Previously, the world had the three B's: Bach, Beethoven and Brahms. Now it has the three W's too: Wagner, Walton and Williams .

  17. Sorry if "downloadable" was not the right term to use and if this web page was posted before. I hadn't seen it yet and thought there might be others who might be interested. I was also just wondering what other videos of John Williams there were on the web.
  18. Here's a link to reahersal and performance video from John Williams' concert with Gil Shaham and the National Symphony Orchestra back in April. There's over 11 minutes of video. http://www.kennedy-center.org/calendar/ind...nt&event=NFCSP# Does anyone know of other links to sites where John Williams video can be found?
