  1. This is the crux of the matter: We can wait for the DVD if we want to listen to it with the narration included.
  2. No that was probably another Sony screw up.They probably planned to put narration. We just got lucky. K.M. LOL
  3. THE AMERICAN JOURNEY was composed with narration intended wasn't it? We are so fortunate that the recording released by Sony was narration free!!! 8O At least Sony got something right .

  5. I just found this site where you can listen to music from the major American news networks. It includes a lot of the music John Williams wrote for NBC like "Fugue For Changing Times", "Scherzo For Today", and "Pulse of Events". Also, there is a techno version of JWs "Mission" theme used for Australian TV: http://www.geocities.com/netnewsmusic/nbc.html Make sure you check out the music for CBS too: http://www.geocities.com/netnewsmusic/cbs.html "CBS EVENING NEWS" 1987-1991 Close and "CBS EVENING NEWS" CURRENT Close sound very Williamsesque. Good stuff!!!
  6. You can get it here: http://www.musicfromthemovies.com/article.asp?ID=510 It ain't cheap though .
  7. I think The Mission from AMAZING STORIES is an overlooked gem of a score and written in a most heroic vein.
  8. Isn't the music that accompanies the duel between Dooku and Anakin unreleased?
  9. For me it would be: 1. Buckbeak's Flight 2. A Window to the Past 3. The Whomping Willow and the Snowball Fight 4. Secrets of the Castle 5. Hagrid the Professor 6. Finale 7. Mischief Managed!
  10. FSM has available a documentary of Basil Poledouris: http://www.screenarchives.com/fsm/videos.cfm
  11. Bravo!!! ...Looking forward to Episode II - Revenge of the Hairball .
  12. Have you ever been so moved by a piece of music that it actually brought tears to your eyes? John Williams music frequently has had this affect on me. One piece that stands out in my memory is "E.T. and Me" from the original 1982 album. I remember welling up with that one on a few occations. Yes, I'm a sentimental fool.
  13. The first minute of "Fawkes the Phoenix" is absolute perfection. John Williams is the GREATEST writer of memorable themes in the history of film music and has definitely not lost his touch. IMHO
  14. The way they've set it up, it sounds like there will definitely be sequels. There are 7 books in the series I believe. The trailer does looks very promising. I'm glad to hear that the guys who did the special effects for The Lord of the Rings films, WETA Digital, will be doing the special effects for this film.
  15. If anyone else has to score a Harry Potter film besides Williams, Doyle is a good choice especially with the history he has with the director. I only hope they don't ignore the musical themes from the first three films. A Harry Potter film just wouldn't be the same without "Hedwig's Theme".
  16. Lukas Kendall at Film Score Monthly has just announced that a box of Towering Inferno CDs were found and is thinking of ways to get them to "loving homes". He wants some feedback: http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/post...26671&forumID=1
  17. I would give the score overall an 8 but I would give the overture (especially the expanded concert version) a 10.
  18. Yeah, it should be in the centre, like it is in the ESB poster. Looking at the three Prequel posters together, the off-center mask works well as a "bookend" and in that sense gives balance when placed side-by-side.
  19. I'm surprised no one has mentioned: Oliver Stone / John Williams Chris Columbus / John Williams George Lucas / John Williams
  20. Here is another link to where you can view the trailer and also some behind the scenes documentaries: http://movies.channel.aol.com/feature/star...arwars/main.adp
  21. This is what Bill Wrobel says: "When I looked at the sketches, I discovered that Williams did indeed write all of the music. So what Ross did besides some conducting work, I am not sure. It is possible he adapted some of the cues to the final edit of the film (??) but I do not know." Here is the link: http://www.filmscorerundowns.net/williams/...harrypotter.pdf
  22. But that Hip-O Records link says that "John Williams conducts four tracks including a pair from his famed themes for the film ?Star Wars.? The remaining tracks are lead by Arthur Fiedler."
