  1. Personally, I don't have a problem with that... It's just they could have tracked the almost unlistable underscore instead and let Williams compose new music for new scenes, like the controversial March to the Jedi Temple.
  2. The Deathly Hallows Part I score is completed, acording to Conrad Pope: Back in L.A. after working on HP7 for Alexandre Desplat. The score adds a new dimension to Potter. Wish I could be more specific and share all my thoughts and news but I've promised the producers my silence until the picture is released. So, everyone with questions: please know they'll be all answered soon enough. For me, it's on to the next panic.... I mean project! (Actually HP was a delight, as these things go). Sounds nice!
  3. I believe Jurassic Park only has unreleased a couple of minutes. Now The Lost World, that's another thing.
  4. So that's why POA sounds a little "off"? For example, there is something "off" about Aunt Marge's Waltz. The music is perfect, the orchestration is perfect... But the sound quality doesn't seem absolutely right, at least for me. It should sound (specially in the ending part) in all its glory. Instead, it sounds... off. Anyone know what I mean?
  5. Wow, the "Three Note Loop" is breath-taking. It's a lot better than the Skull theme. I love how the way it reaches a sort of climax and starts again. I can totally see it being used it Part II.
  6. It would be interesting if this guy uploaded the Voldemort's theme from the Children's Suite. Or the Sorcerer's Stone concert version! Any of them would be awesome.
  7. Finally Johnny got himself a YouTube account! Seriously though, the three of them are great! The music box music sounds kinda like the Christmas song from POA and what Double Trouble would become. And I love the small fanfare at the end of "Lonely Night". It starts kinda somber, but then it gets beautiful. A lot better than "Hogwarts Forever". Maybe the guy who posted the video will post the first recordings of POA which included more of the other themes! (Of course, kidding, I believe there is no such thing) PS: Someone make sure to record them, I have a feeling they won't be out there for long!
  8. The SS poster is better than the film itself.
  9. That was an excellent interview! Quint should really interview Johnny in the future. When he's asked stuff from someone who knows about music and doesn't ask the generic questions, Williams is a pleasure to listen to.
  10. I always thought that the best moments in the prequels (specially in ROTS) was when Lucas let the music do the talking. Take for example "Duel of the Fates", "Battle of the Heroes" or the best one... "Lament". There are some more, like the tracked Arena March on the Jedi Temple, which altough is inappropiate, works wonderfully. Also, "It Can't Be", which is so melodramatic it's awesome. That's probably why the last half hour of ROTS works so well.
  11. Tartakovky's Clone Wars had some amazing moments. For example, two moments that stood out for me in Akanin's transition to the Dark Side. The one where he "kills" Ventress and the one where he sees his future in a mystical cave. Both moments were excellent and barely had any words. Genndy's series is much better, and more emotional, though the Force powers are a little over the top. And it had a lot more respect for the prequel trilogy themes than Lucas and Brutt had! I think it used the Arena March as sort of the "main theme" of the series. It would have interesting to see what Tartakovsky could have done with the movies. But I have no doubt J. J. Abrams will remake the prequels some day... (I would like to make clear that while I find TPM and AOTC a bore-fest, the last half hour of ROTS is brilliant)
  12. Yeah, I think I remember that. I think he said something like Williams music was "too childish" or something like that...
  13. Try David Koepp's Secret Window, from 2004. It isn't a very good film, and it's not exactly scary... It's more a suspense film. But it will get you nervous as hell.
  14. I remember reading somewhere on FSM that Giacchino is going to score Captain America. Anybody know if this is true?
  15. Very interesting! Any more movies he was offered but rejected?
  16. I think the problem most people have with Zimmer having additional composers is that he can actually compose an entire soundtrack by himself. The early 90`s, for example, brought us a lot scores that (if I'm not mistaken) were all written by himself. The Lion King and Backdraft are examples of this. I repeat: I'm not entirely sure about this, but as far as I remember these scores were pure Zimmer. Personally, it doesn't bother me that Zimmer uses help. But what really bothers and annoyes me is that people will say "Zimmer is a freakin genius" of a cue that wasn't even written by him! That really pisses me off. At least give the proper credit on the CD, so that way people will know and don't misfire they compliments.
  17. I've been comparing it with complete score analysis from the main page and it seems the "Lupin's Transformation" version I have is also called "Lupin's Transformation/The Werewolf Scene" (5:08). The description says: This extended cue starts out tenderly with Harry talking to Black (there is an unreleased quote of the memory theme), then turns ugly for Lupin?s Transformation and the werewolf fight. The cue continues right up to? Anyone can compare?
  18. It's the one from the complete score. Of course, it's a bootleg version. Do you want me to send you the track so you can listen to it and compare?
  19. I just discovered something extremly interesting. I was listening to POA (awesome by the way), and I discovered what I think could be a quote to one of Voldemort's themes. More exactly, the one they call the Slytherin theme. Listen to "Lupin's Transformation" (I have the version that lasts for 6:11 minutes approx) and pay attention at 4:10. Is it right what I'm hearing? It doesn't seem to be a direct quote, but the first notes are very similar, if not the same. What do you think?
  20. Interesting that Desplat is going for a low-key score. Younger ones will probably love it and older ones will probably hate it, and viceversa if he did a "in your face" score. I'm really intrigued to see how he'll score action scenes. Maybe most of them won't have music at all? Like the Voldemort Vs. Dumbledore duel from OOTP, which worked real nicely without music. Ben Brutt would have been happy as hell if Williams had scored something original for that scene and got unused.
  21. You know what would be great? If Voldemort's theme(s) was re-arranged in a full The Fury Main Title mode. Just listen to this and tell me if wouldn't fit like a glove for You Know Who: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HNPidX0NKdk
