Muad'Dib reacted to Sharkissimo in The Official Bernard Herrmann Thread
This cantata is my favourite among all of Herrmann's scores and concert works. Astonishing.
Another perennial favourite is the Concerto Macabre from HANGOVER SQUARE.

Yeah, they're flying in. I just got an exclusive pic of the recording actually.
Keep it on JWFan, please.

Muad'Dib got a reaction from Cerebral Cortex in A John Williams Celebration - LA Phil on DVD & Blu-ray June 30 (Soundings premiere release)
Finally! It's also great to see how quick Williams is expressing himself with words, I think I haven't seen him like that ever really. I don't know if it's the confidence of talking to someone on his same level musically or that he respects Gustavo, but it's still great.

Muad'Dib got a reaction from Sharkissimo in Michael Giacchino's Jurassic World (2015)
It's hard to believe that Operation Genesis sounds like it's got the bigger orchestra.

Muad'Dib reacted to Sharkissimo in Michael Giacchino's Jurassic World (2015)
I think I still prefer Stephen Schutze's score for OPERATION GENESIS.
It never tries to be atonal, and that's probably a good thing.

Muad'Dib got a reaction from Dixon Hill in Michael Giacchino's Inside Out (2015)
They got cold feet when they saw Pilgrim's reaction.

Muad'Dib got a reaction from Bespin in Boston Film Night 2015 (without JW)
Morricone conducts his own music and he's not good at in my opinion, apart from the fact that more often than not he has had to dealt with some pretty bad orchestras, something that Williams has been lucky enough to avoid through most of his carreer.

Muad'Dib reacted to Dixon Hill in Dunno what to title this
I hate to add another semi-heavy thread to the forum, what with Steef's current situation, but I think I need to.
There are some things happening involving my father, and my mother-in-law, and there's a possibility that I'm going to be away from here for a while. And I'm not certain exactly when or if I'll be back.
I haven't even been a member here for two years yet. My postcount is shamefully not reflective of that, but I'm grateful for what it does show: that I was able to become part of this community. I never had much faith in this sort of thing, but my wife encouraged me to try it out as a way to connect with people who had the same passions. I guess it worked. It reminded me, in a way I never expected, of what I wanted to do with my life and why. It renewed a bit of the fire that had dimmed. And over the last six months or so, when I rightfully should have reigned in my omnipresence here in favor of giving full attention to the fact that I'm finally able to do that thing, I've stuck around. Maybe even dug myself in deeper than before. So maybe this'll be a comically unnecessary post and I'll continue to haunt the forum. Maybe.
I'm grateful for all of this, and all of you. It's been an interesting ride so far. Like I said I didn't really believe I could or would get into the swing of the forum life and cultivating the strange sort of relationships that result. I'm glad I was wrong.
I won't be apologizing for having occasionally unpopular and strong opinions. Isn't that the point of this place? And if I've said it once I've said it a thousand times: if you're not sure if I'm being serious, I'm not. So bear that in mind, and you'll know that I've got nothing but affection (even grudgingly) for you.
Look at how long this bullshit is. No chance I stay away.

Muad'Dib got a reaction from MrHeelFace in What Is The Last Film You Watched? (Older Films)
You gotta see White Buffallo if you like Ghost and the Darkness. Although the former is better in my opinion, I don't like how they make all triumphant in Ghost and Darkness when they finally kill both lions, despite what they to those innocent workers. I wish it would have been more reflective instead of "Fuck yeah we did it!"
