  1. Ehhh... Sure, why not? [/Lyle Lanley] And now, for some valuable non film-score fans on Patrick Doyle: Now...I don't know most of those movies this guy composed but they all seem to be chick flicks...that just doesn't inspire confidence in me. What the heck?!?!! NoOoOit wont be the same..well..they better have The famous Hedwig's Theme in it because without that piece it won' t be the same
  2. I leave for four hours and THIS happens. I'm very sad indeed. Like HPFAN, my life has changed forever because of the score from Philosopher's Stone. I would have no direction in my life now if it wasn't for that score (or at least it would be a very different direction). Still, I should be happy with that much, and I certainly am. I'm glad he left the series on such an excellent note (no pun intended). We should be celebrating Williams involvement, not lamenting this now! I look foward to Doyle's score. Magical Me - Who's putting on a brave face, but failing miserably...
  3. Uh, that project was canned a long time ago...
  4. As some observant people may know, MGM Studios has been bought out by Sony. (Stupid Warner! My chances for a Peter Jackson Hobbit movie in this lifetime wear thin) Brosnan's Back In Action Pierce Brosnan will be back as James Bond for a fifth time if negotiations complete successfully. After leaving the door open for a return last week, when he denied ever officially retiring from the role, Brosnan is back in talks to return to the tuxedo and has agreed in principal to star in Bond 21. As MI6 revealed last week, as soon as the Sony buyout of MGM had been announced, Brosnan was back at the negotiating table with Eon Productions to bash out a deal for the next film - officially slated for release on 18th November 2005. As well as the role of 007, MI6 regulars have been approached to return, although no casting decisions have been finalized yet. Should a deal with Brosnan fall through, James Purefoy is the top candidate to become James Bond #6. Some pre-production units which would have started initial work on the film touted for a January 2005 shoot are still to be formed according to production www.mi6.co.uk Fingers crossed.
  5. Who has? I know what happens anyway, that's what you get when you read the CD booklet!
  6. As much as I love the CSI shows, we don't need another one. The original is still the best, and Miami is great. Please, no more.
  7. It's my favourite of the Brosnans, great score to boot. GE is right behind, but the awful score took points away and put TWINE in front. As laughable as TND is, I still think it's great and Carver is the most entertaining, pathetic villain since Goldfinger himself. DAD is just... Wrong. That's why I'd like Brosnan to have just one more outing as Bond, so he'd have the chance to finish with something decent. Which one? I like them both! And if anyone read the similar thread in General Discussion, I posted a link that possibly denies Scott's involvement. I hope it's a false report, one more Brosnan-Bond is all I ask!
  8. Yeah, I vaguely remembered that after I watched the movie the other day, hoping that something's happened. Anyone got any more info?
  9. I'd say the Potter audience is greater than a 90-10% children-adult ratio. Maybe 80-20%, I know a lot of adults who adore the books, though some of them have become adults since reading them as children years ago! R.E. Harry's virginity: I doubt Rowling would do that, there'd be an outrage. Besides, she publicly stated her disgust at sex-themed fan-fiction using her characters, I doubt she'd go in and do it herself. Besides, Harry won't get any. He's the hero.
  10. Hooray for my last minute decision!! I'm now listening to "Hester's Theme", the CD arrived earlier today!! I'm so happy I got it. From what i've heard it's an excellent score. Now if only I'd bought two of them and sold one on e-Bay...
  11. Apparently on this board it's reqired to be inversed; to love the first two and hate the third. From my experiences, anyway. I also hate SW/Potter comparisons. Why don't we just go to town and compare it to the Bible. You can find vague symbolism anywhere, and most of the time it's unintentional on the author's part. Any similarities are probably coincedences between Potter and Star Wars, I can't imagine Rowling needing to steal from Lucas to entertain people.
  12. I would suggest an original scene that most of us wouldn't have seen or heard. It's just that I would certainly be influenced by Williams in that scene, for instance if I wrote my own Imperial March it would appear in the same place as Williams' did. If I'd never seen or heard it before it's more open to interpretation, as the scene would be taken out of context. Just a suggestion, though!
  13. This has not been confirmed. Scott's mother has denied the rumours. I suggest referring to more reliable 007 sites as opposed to tabloids; www.mi6.co.uk Bond 21 16-09-04 Dougray Scott`s mother denies the `next Bond` tabloid trash talk Another crazy tabloid rumour can be put to rest today as Dougray Scott's mother has spoken to the press about the latest crazy claim from hacks that the "Mission: Impossible 2" star was set to become the next James Bond 007. Speaking the Daily Record (UK), Elma Scott said "There have been rumours going around for years that Stephen (Dougray's real name) is to play James Bond. But my other son, David, contacted him about the latest reports and he said it's not true. He has other commitments so there is certainly nothing to say at the moment". Scott was first mooted as a possible replacement for Brosnan five years ago. At the time, he insisted he could never live up to Connery's 007. He said: "I'm very flattered that people consider me good enough to play James Bond. But I couldn't play that part any better than Sean. To be honest, I am not convinced I am suave enough." The Daily Record is part of the same newspaper group as the Sunday Mirror - who published the rumour last week. Nothing quite beats making your own news. Thanks to `mathewww` for the alert.
  14. The fact that I complained RotK hadn't enough previous material is enough to warrant a big NO to it being rehash. It would have been perfect if some more previous themes had returned, such as the Black Rider theme, even if it was way overused in Fellowship. Another one was Aniron. I know it was composed by Enya and all sorts of copyright issues would come into it, but she did label it "Love theme for Aragorn and Arwen", so I would expect it in more than one scene in the entire trilogy. Gollum's oboe motif mysteriously disappears, to be replaced with that shaky instrument (don't have liner notes with me - I can't remember what it's called) theme.
  15. I don't understand it, the conflict is between RotS and WotW, GoF comes months later. What's could be stopping him (if it is a schedule conflict, that is).
  16. I hate the reaction among fans the most. It has divided people even at these boards, deny it if you will but it's true. However, the fans' reaction is a result of one or more of these things so all of them. But personally I'd go for rotting tapes, if only becasue I want a full release of ToD.
  17. Star Wars is in the past. At least half the population here agree that it should have ended with RotJ and couldn't care elss about the prequels. Personally I don't care much for Star Wars at all, apart from the ESB score (the only score out of the five that I own). Potter is the new Williams franchise (providing he scores GoF). Keep up with the times, people!
  18. I'm really sick of the lack of confirmation and/or denying of the next Bond actor by EoN. It's getting quite irritating, leading us on with cryptic clues that Brosnan ISN'T leaving, then shattering all hopes weeks later by having a false statement that Eric Bana is taking the role up. Get with the program people!
  19. I hope it comes soon, it's only been a week but and I'm in Australia so it might take a while...
  20. *cough*LotR*cough* I'm not expecting John to win. I'd like it, but the Academy don't look at good scores. I couldn't possibly anticipate a winner as I haven't and probably will not hear many of the other scores any time soon. But being the Williams-biased guy I am, of course I'd hope that PoA won.
  21. Heh, it's not mine. It's my mother's. I love being young and not having a job... Oh wait, no I don't!
  22. YES!!! I'm ordering a copy right now! Thanks for informing me Neil.
  23. That's a tough one... I'm swinging towards Fawkes because I was simply overwhelmed by it the first time I heard it. But Window to the Past had sheer beauty and emotion. I'd go with Fawkes.
