  1. I would've liked to see Harris stick around for the Dumbledore in PoA, to see how he delivered the performance. His character was different in the new script; I would've liked to see how he handled it compared to Gambon. Oh well, I was very impressed with Gambon. And I know the reason I didn't like Harris as Dumbledore was his material (or lackthereof).
  2. For a second there I thought it was the name for Episode III...
  3. See hear the typical mentality of a Lucas butt-kisser. You didn't forget to click your heals and do the Lucas salute, did you? It was a joke. I was waiting for someone to come along to say "There would be no-one left" No such intelligence, I'm afraid... I don't love Lucas. In fact, I'm not a fan of Star Wars in general. I've seen all the movies, and I have the SE scores, but I'm not obsessed, and certainly do not jump everytime someone praises the prequels. Harry Potter, on the other hand....
  4. As much as I'd like to see another clever time-turner scene (in both book and movie), I hope none of the huge revelations have to do with somebody with a time-turner. I've read some wacky theories; Grown-up Harry was in Godric's Hollow the day his parents were murdered/Voldemort was stripped of his powers; Godric Gryffindor is Animagi Fawkes; Voldemort is Salazar Slytherin-- his memory is modified and he is sent back in time 1000 years and all he can remember is the words "Salazar Slytherin" so people call him that. Then it's just a vicious cycle. I think Dumbledore needs to die so Harry can no longer rely on him to fix every problem wih a wave of his wand, so he has to rely on himself. Just as the death of (spoiler) Sirius Black was necessary for Harry to mature. But that was an unwanted death also. I still don't want Dumbledore to die though. It would just be easier if he locked himself in his office, temporarily deaf and twiddling his thumbs while the war happens... I can hope!
  5. I would use my influence, money and power to extract revenge on everyone who desn't like what I've done. A mass genocide of Lucas-haters.
  6. Hopefully. Dumbledore's my favourite character
  7. That's good, especially as I was arguing with a real fool who hated PoA, and one of his only arguments was that it's making less than the other two films, so it's a miserable failure. It was nobody here, by the way. I don't think anyone here is that dumb. The greatest part was when he claimed he was a teacher...
  8. I think the world of music has forgotten Australia.... Except for those lucky bastards who got to see Shore in Sydney!!
  9. I don't see why his robes and nails made Gambon a bad Dumbledore, HPFAN. Not me either, obviously. I've stated my views of Gambon/Harris earlier in this gigantic thread, and a couple of other related ones.
  10. Well, I'll go for Hook because I'm partial to Williams' fantasy scores. I would have said Schindler's List but I find it a bit too depressing for many repeat listens, as Hook has the honour of having.
  11. So, what did you vote then Alex? As a side note, I'm guessing the reason that these are Potter-boards is because Williams' score for Philosopher's Stone recruited fans, as Jurassic Park did a decade ago, and other of Williams' blockbuster scores.
  12. LOL! That was a gret one, pixie_twinkle. I go with Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, for one simple reason. It introduced me to the world of music, sparked my interest. It made me want to be a composer.
  13. The song that Professon Lupin is playing on his record during the Boggart lesson is NOT Benny Goodman's Sing, Sing, Sing (With a Swing) as popular belief would have it. It is actually Swing, Swing, Swing from 1941, composed by none other than John Williams.
  14. I never saw Star Wars. It was a decade before my time. But I have seen A New Hope and I did like it. And then I saw The Empire Strikes Bacl and I loved it. From then, I didn't become obsessed with the franchise as I have with Harry potter, but I have been interested. That interest, thankfully, has extended to the scores which had a big hand in my now obsession with film scores. So I can't answer your question, THX, because I have never seen the movie Star Wars.
  15. The funniest part about Ralph Fiennes being Voldemort is that there's a group of people who wanted Fiennes as Professor Lupin. They even created an online petition (as if that would have done much). I don't think it's a bad choice; I'm one of those people who reserve judgement of casting until I see them in the role. Hence why I was so annoyed when people called Fleur's actress ugly, adn completely wrong for the part. Ditto when people whinged about Thewlis and Oldman. The best part was when they turned out to be nothing short of excellent in their roles.
  16. I'm 5 years old now? I'm talking 16-17 year-olds. Besides, I wasn't attacking Zimmer, I was merely amused at the observation that these people who know very little about film music think that all of Zimmer's music sounds the same. When you listen to these scores, in depth, you begin to realise their differences. Hence, when people say that the Potter scores sound like Jurassic Park, I goggle at them. When I first heard Zimmer's works I thought they sounded the same, but now I know better. Still, Muppet Treasure Island remains my favourite of his, despite traces of Hook scattered about.
  17. I don't think anyone was blaming him... It was just a clever reference to the climax in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, nothing more.
  18. Hahah, reminds me of one time when my Zimmer-fan friend had Gladiator playing after the school production. A group of about five teens our age walked past and were saying "Isn't this the Lion King?"; "No, it's from The Rock" etc. I think one even mentioned The Planets. Nedless to say, when the uninvited dialogue made its appearence on the CD they were set straight. And no, Williams should not end the collaboration. As countless others are saying, they bring out the best in each other. Except Hook, while it was a brilliant score I have no idea what Spielberg was thinking. I tell you, it's a good thing Williams had written a lot of the themes for the score before he actually wrote the score (he would have had heaps of material from the musical he and Spielberg were planning), otherwise it would have been hard to score that tripe.
  19. Because he's completely CGI. He's a cyborg thingie whose only organic part of his body is his eyes. He's the new villain on the block in Ep.III. Or so I've gathered, I don't care much for Star Wars in general (apart from the scores) so I rarely look in the threads concerning the next instalment.
  20. Meh, all of Randy Newman's songs sound exactly the same. But then there's Thomas' Nemo which doesn't have a song, isn't it just music?
  21. I think that was just a rumour. Nothing solid, though I probably wouldn't mind Pike to play Skeeter.
  22. But maybe, just maybe Lucas will scrap the idea of CG Grievous, and Oldman will be his puppeteer! That would be... Good I suppose...
  23. Even if it was the same situation, I think John would make GoF a higher priority. Well, he should anyway.
