Docteur Qui got a reaction from Brando in Williams debuts "Helena's Theme" from Indiana Jones 5 at the Hollywood Bowl
When I was a young teenager and obsessed with the first Potter score I would sometimes daydream that I was cast in one of the films as a major character. In my little fantasy I insisted on attending the recording sessions and meeting with Williams, and he was always so pleased that I showed interest in his music.

When I saw all the footage of Daisy at the recording sessions for TFA, seeing how chuffed she was about the whole thing, it gave my inner child such vindication! Glad to hear Phoebe Waller-Bridge is in the same boat, it would be such an honour!

Relatively few actors have had the experience of John Williams writing a theme for their character.

It must be incredible, like Daisy R. and Rey's Theme or Ford and Indy's theme.
The actress who plays Helena was asked about this in an interview:

Welp, the game leaked, and now there's random clips of it all over youtube, etc

Best to avoid everything you see online about this game between now and the 12th if you truly don't want to know anything

I won't be posting any spoilers here, but if people want to discuss stuff ahead of actually playing the game yourself, feel free to do so inside a spoiler block

Once the game comes out on the 12th and people posting in the thread are actually playing it themelves, I don't think we should use spoiler blocks unless we're talking late-game stuff and clearly many other posters are still in early game.  That's just my opinion, I'm open to other ideas

Ah ... where would Doctor Who promo pics, soundtrack covers etc. be without the 'Doctor and companion run away from explosion or energy surge/the Doctor reaches out in some mystically meaningful way' poses?

I'd say series 5 is his best work. Stylistically speaking it's more cohesive, with a definite fairytale approach reflecting the narrative writing, and the album selection is pretty great and not overly padded out like later ones. It's obvious he was very inspired by the new direction of the show. I'm also a big fan of the Raiders-inspired material for the two-part finale. Personally I'm neither here nor there about his theme for Eleven (I Am the Doctor), but the other theme for the Doctor he introduced in that series is absolutely exquisite, and one of my all time favourites:

Thanks for sharing that DWM article, @Oswin Pond! What an absolute treat to read. It's clear that just about everyone is stoked about his return. I don't know what I'm more excited for - the return of some of his great themes or the new material and style he's bringing to Ncuti.

I’d probably go with seasons 4 and 5. The former is arguably the best of the RTD regular series and the latter is some of best of the more fairytale Moffat era including the insanely catchy I am the Doctor. Of the Christmas specials I would recommend A Christmas Carol but they are all pretty great. I’d lay money on you getting enough recommendations that you get someone suggesting every release to be honest…

Gold returning is such good news. He was the soul of New Who for me, it wasn't the same when he left. I think he's one of the best composer out there, his work is outstanding!

He just did in interview for the Doctor Who Magazine where he confirms that "The Doctor's theme" and "Donna's theme" will come back as well as Series 10 being released! Although no date on that yet.

Here is the interview (You can open image in new tab to be able to zoom in, I don't have another format)

    Fucking YES

I’ve been anxiously awaiting the news of a new composer trying to steel myself for disappointment but this is everything I have always been wanting

Biggest difference to the feel of Chibnall’s era compared to the rest of Doctor Who is the lack of pathos of which the music is a HUGE part of. It’s what I always notice immediately going from one episode in the Chibnall era to anything before that

I would’ve been happy just having him back for the 60th and to hear those glorious rich tapestry of themes for the Tennant era, but to hear he’s going on to Series 14 as well makes me ecstatic and I can’t wait to hear what new things he comes up with

I always thought his strongest music was in the RTD1 era and I do think he ran out of steam by the end, but with so much distance from the project and working with a longtime collaborator with, what I’m surprised to see as no hesitation, we could be on the brink of another Golden (heh) Era

Last thing I expected to wake up and hear, my god I can’t wait for the sheer comfort of hearing Murray’s music with the return of Doctor Who in that first 60th episode. It’s going to be a surreal but beautiful experience, I’m especially going to feel it when I hear Donna’s theme again

He seems to have a weird axe to grind about this film. I haven't seen it yet but the majority of critics I follow thought it was fine. Not great, and maybe not even good, but a not unpleasant way to spend 90 minutes. That's all the film really needed to be to be honest.

Murray Gold's work on s1-10 of Doctor Who might be some of my favorite music ever outside of Star Wars. I've always wanted to do a proper thematic analysis of it, I wish more was officially released.

@Giftheck I feel the same about Star Wars these days. The utter mediocrity of recent SW productions (both on the big and the small screen) combined with the near omnipresence of the brand made me apathetic at best and hostile at worst towards the franchise. I know Andor and Mandalorian S3 seem good enough, but I'm so tired of Star Wars that it will take a while until I have enough energy to actually check them.

So yeah, I'm really "disenchanted" about SW.

Indiana Jones, on the other hand, looks great! Competent director, cool trailers, Williams returning and the best part: not a single Disney+ series in sight.

Docteur Qui reacted to Holko in THE LAST OF US (HBO TV) - spoilers allowed for aired episodes (game spoilers masked)
I waited for the game to finally come out on PC first, played it and absolutely loved it! I love this green apocalypse where nature is completely fine and dandy without us, and the remaining humans are struggling with keeping their humanity in different ways. Then I finally watched this and loved it! Obviously because of doing it so quickly after the game, some parts, the pilot's present scenes especially kinda lost me - I was thinking "what's the point" but even I wasn't sure if I meant "what's the point of them doing the same thing again" or "what's the point of me watching the same thing again".

I loved the changes that expand the world and characters, the different POV scenes, the expanded exploration of what people do in this world because of different kinds of love. The Bill/Frank episode was especially fantastic!

It was interesting to see more subtle changes too like how Joel is overall mostly less of an ass. He's nice to Henry, says thank you, trusts Ellie with a weapon earlier, he doesn't want to shoot the sniper, though with some of these the series also changes the situations to give him less of a reason to be an ass, the sniper's an old man instead of a guy who attacks him, Henry doesn't leave him behind at the bridge etc. I guess the game can get away with more, since you're controlling him, you're making him do everything, you automatically identify with him easier than if you'd just be simply watching an untrusting grumpy ahole for 5 hours before he starts being nice. I also liked that Ellie knows Sam is infected and tries to help him - it can go both ways, further increase her survivorship guilt because she tried and failed to save him, or make her doubt her usefulness in creating a vaccine.

Some changes I was just a bit perplexed by, like the switch from Pittsburgh to Kansas City. It doesn't make any lick of difference tbh, but why change it if it doesn't matter at all I'm not a big US city afficionado, maybe KC was easier to CG and find similar locations for in Canada?

Some changes I didn't like, like the hive mind aspect, which they kinda introduced for tension then abandoned, or downplaying the police state's cruelty (they're nice to the poor little infected kid, they're not the ones who kill Tess, there's much less running and hiding from them) - wonder how much of this latter one is because of US media being constantly soft-forced or at least heavily encouraged to suck the military's dick. Though there are more indirect things like the pit where they killed and burned innocent people.

I haven't read or heard from the creators about this, but for me the "kiss" with Tess worked on a few levels. Firstly as others have pointed out, Tess was already bitten and it's likely that the infected that came up to her was aware of this. So what next? Speed up the infection of course, via tendrils. The whole episode is littered with moments highlighting the nature of cordyceps as being a vast network with a hive mind and a singular goal. So not only is the infected trying to speed up Tess' infection, it's also literally reaching out to connect with the tendrils already growing inside her. The fact that it did so with a "kiss" was to emphasise both the horror and beauty in that idea. It's even more messed up when you think about the fact that there's possibly some kind of human instinct still operating inside the infected's mind, implying that the kiss was a twisted take on a very human way of connecting.

On top of all that was Tess' longing for a real connection to Joel, which she alludes to before dying. In a bit of dramatic irony Tess is offered a form of connection that she's so desperate to feel, but it's so alien and horrifying to her and us at the same time. It's also why she is frozen in that moment - the show is asking: does part of her actually want to submit and connect?

I really, really appreciate what the creators are doing with this show. They're emphasising how beautiful this fungus is in addition to the sheer horror of it, which is being used to explore and contrast with what it means to be human; what it means to be connected; and who the "us" is in the show's title (hint, it's got multiple meanings). This is the kind of thing I was hoping they'd do to differentiate from the game and I couldn't be more impressed.

Not only that but it's becoming clear that each episode has a thematic statement to explore (in this episode it's "connection"), which gives structure to the series so it doesn't feel like a 10-hour movie split into chunks like so many contemporary shows do. At its best Game of Thrones did this incredibly well, see also House of the Dragon. That's how you tell a serialised story in the age of streaming.

One last thing (MAJOR game spoilers here)

I've just finished it a couple of weeks ago and I also thought it was absolutely terrific. Not quite as innovative or engrossing as Obra Dinn. but still quite unique. I too hope more games are done in this vein. And even when you do get stuck, they never get frustrating and make force brute into solving the scenarios

That was absolutely amazing. This score will work wonderfully with a proper curated presentation. Let's hope the upcoming Limited Run edition tackles this properly

That looks cringy as hell. A whole game riffing on "millennials, am I right?", I'll pass. A shame, because I quite like the art style.

This game, on the other hand, is phenomenal. I can't recommend it more. I knocked it over in a night (I ended up going to bed late because I was so hooked, I didn't care). It's similar to Obra Dinn (which I loved), but a very different experience. I'm salivating for more games like these two. It's a genre I never even knew I wanted - old-school adventure game but with a focus on logical deduction. I'm surprised there aren't more out there.
