  1. Well, to each his own. I think I'll listen to CD 2 a bit tonight. I usually start at CD 1, but strand halfway through because I go do something else and can't listen to music with it. I've also only seen the film once, and it didn't really make a strong impression. It has aged too much, I think. - Marc, leaving for Crete tomorrow. Daryl Arrives from The Witches Of Eastwick
  2. Finally. I was almost fearing I was one of the few who didn't really like Superman. And I too like to listen to scores as a whole. When I walk out of my room, I often leave the CD Player on, or put it on pause in the middle of a track, so I can pick it up where I left off. - Marc, who thinks the Main Title March is awesome though, and the Krypton and Smallville cues are great.
  3. Fat chance we'll see proper releases this year. We already got the concert compilation CD earlier, so don't expact more Indy music in one year, or next year, or probably even in two years. Nope, we're screwed. - Marc
  4. I have the Rhino release, and the first CD is my favourite. But after track 9, when Kent arrives in Metropolis, I find things get a little... I wouldn't say dull, or monotonous... It's just... It's loud. Perhaps its due to subject matter, but the music is sometimes just a bit over-the-top, and to me doesn't stand up to TESB, but then again, what does? Don't take this the wrong way; Superman is a great score, and IMHO, all scores bleaken in comparison to the allmighty TESB. It's worth getting, just to close the hole in your collection. - Marc, The Empire Strikes Back
  5. That's good. At least you tried. I haven't seen the movie, so I can't really judge it. - Marc
  6. Oh, man. There are just too many to name. Basically every time the Force theme swells, and the finales of E.T. and CE3K are the first things that come to mind. - Marc
  7. Haven't seen Hulk, but I think this is a typical case of mis-marketing. I think Ang Lee tried to make a good movie with a good theme, while the suits wanted a big blockbuster actionfilm. Sadly, those two didn't mix. - Marc, who is surprised Joe went to see the movie after constantly bashing it prior to release. :?
  8. Or start a poll I still think it's Lupin's transformation. The description in the book seemed to match very well to this picture. Note that Harry is looking up at what would be the towering shape of a werewolf, and pulling Hermione back, just like he did in the book. Of course, things change in book-to-film projects, so maybe I'm wrong. But I'm sticking with Lupin. - Marc
  9. Uhmm... oh, right... that's what I meant. - Marc, banghead
  10. I'm sorry. I misread it. Please forgive me. - Marc, feeling stupid. :? BTW, does this affect the R2 release as well? If that would be pushed up too, it would be sweet.
  11. Huh? What did they do that for? I hope they don't do the same thing as Fox tends to do with The Simpsons releases. - Marc, banghead
  12. Hehe. The opening pan upward is a hommage to the sci-fi classic 2001: The Space Oddysey, although in my opinion, if they wanted to pay a little hommage to 2001 like that, they could have done it with one of the other planets. - Marc, who has learned to look beyond the flaws and personal disappointments of AOTC and found quite an enjoyable movie. Betrayal At Bespin from The Empire Strikes Back
  13. Yup. Boy, I'd like one of those... - Marc, who copied the notes into Finale to find out.
  14. 24 Euros? Whoa. I'm hopping on the first train to Utrecht I can get. I've been thinking of buying it for the regular 40,--, with a 10% discount (CJP), but this is 12 Euros cheaper! Thanks for the heads up. - Marc,
  15. You're right, but a little debating never hurts. - Marc BTW, the Dutch covers don't ever show any of the main characters, at least not clear or so that you can see their faces. The French covers look like crap, though.
  16. Yes, what's stopping us from heading over there now? Is there a specific rule? Perhaps I've missed it. - Marc, heading over there now.
  17. Four hours to go, and once again I see little chance of being there. For one, it'll be 23:00 over here, fairly late for me, and second, there's a large chance my dad will kick me off his PC (the only one with an internet connection) for work. Poor me. - Marc, hoping he'll be there... somehow.
  18. Is that true? About the clothes I mean. I can't remember Rowling giving specifics, just in book 1 that "first year students will require: 1. Three sets of plain work robes (black) 2. One plain pointed hat (black) for day wear 3. One pair of protective gloves (dragon hides or similar) 4. One winter cloak (black, silver fastenings) Please note that all pupils' clothes should carry name tags." A couple of things strike me about this. 1) the pointed hats seem to be to Rowling what the size of a Hobbit is to Tolkien. It's mentioned, but often left out of sight until someone happens to take off his hat for some reason. Although one might think that with all the running Harry does he should lose it somewhere along the way. 2) all pupils wear name tags, yet a lot of things suggest the opposite. Not that it is clearly stated that they don't anywhere, but just by the way people interact and stuff, it doesn't seem they do have those tags (is this making sense?). Note that in the movie, when the kids arrive, they all Hogwarts badges and robes, yet once they are sorted, they have "magically" (no pun intended) acquired house batches and robes. Of course the movie strays from the books in a lot of places designwise. - Marc.
  19. I assume diskobulus ment Moony, Padfoot, Wormtail and Prongs. Remember the Marauder's Map? - Marc
  20. No. Actually, he is trusted for most of the story, until he shows up in the Shrieking Shack and joins up with Black. Then there is doubt because it turns out he is a werewolf. After Black tells his story it's clear he is a good guy again. - Marc, who wants to hear the action music for the First Task of book 4.
  21. It is a bit concerning. All the scenes in Newsweek seem to be from the June 6th scene. The pumpkins in Hagrid's garden, the Shrieking Shack, and I'm guessing that pic of Harry and Hermione is Lupin turning into a werewolf off screen. But the article from the Sun has Hermione threatening Malfoy in the same outfit, and that took place right after a Care of Magical Creatures Class. Hmm... - Marc
  22. Indeed. There's a lot of emotion in the film. There's far more to TTT the movie than you'd think. A lot of stuff seems to be put in there by PJ and crew, like little character changes and stuff, and might be overlooked because everyone expects it to be the book translated directly to the screen, like most of FotR was. But there's a lot of layers in it, like Aragorn deciding to do a kamikaze at Helm's Deep, just before he thinks of Gandalf, and Sméagol actually turning back to the good side in Osgiliath during Sam's monologue, or Elrond making the decision to help Mankind. It's little moments, and things in the actors' looks that make up those things, but it works great if you really know where to look. I think the EDE will shed more light on some of those subjects. - Marc, who can't wait for more LotR.
  23. That's the kind of music I mean. I didn't want to name Fawkes' theme specifically, more the kind of feeling it would wake, like when we first saw the Brachiosaur with that wonderfull Theme From Jurassic Park. It's a feeling, more than a melody I'm thinking of. - Marc, who read the climax of PoA last night, and has about 10 pages left to finish it.
  24. Whoa. I want all of them. First, I thought of the Dementors, but I'm sure they will get one anyway, so I thought of voting for Sirius. But the option of a Patronus theme is something I haven't thought of yet before, and is something that could be one of those magical John Williams moments, that fills us with joy and astonishment at the sheer beauty of it. - Marc, getting psyched up about this film.
  25. It's a little soon for me to start thinking about my children's names, but if I ever have a son, I want to call him Chris(tiaan). My grandfather was named Chris, and I was middle-named after him (my full name is Marco Christiaan Raps). - Marc, who had a dream about his grandfather last night, and totally believed he was there, even though he died last year.
