Hello...Kitty...kitty...kitty????
Mr. Breathmask replied to #SnowyVernalSpringsEternal's topic in General Discussion
I've missed her too the past few days. Hope she returns soon. - Marc, gazing at a wonderful red sky outside while listening to CE3K. The Visitors/"Bye"/End Titles: The Special Edition from Close Encounters of the Third Kind -
They need to remake the Star Wars Special Editions. How? By getting rid of all that crap they inserted in '97 and make the original films look good again. Cleaning up the films in '97 wasn't a bad thing, just the adding of stuff was annoying. As a result, I have never seen the films in their original form, because I didn't start watching Star Wars until Ep. 1. - Marc The Planet Krypton from Superman: The Movie

Well, Neil, I haven't really made an effor yet. I know my local library has a copy of the original Star Wars on VHS, but I'm not sure wether I want to spend ?2,30 on it, because it looks pretty worn out. I know a friend of mine has the orignal version of The Empire Strikes Back, but I want to wait with watching that until I have seen the original Star Wars. As for Return of the Jedi, right now, I have no idea where to get it. I'll try to go around several rental places to find original versions, because the one I go to usually only has the Special Editions - Marc Prelude And Main Title March from Superman: The Movie

I must honestly admit... I have never heard it. Ever. - Marc, who has never seen the original original Star Wars movies. Treebeard from The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers

WARNING -- Spoilers ahead! Do not read this until you have seen the movie!!! I found The Matrix Reloaded to be quite an extraordinary film. But it did leave me puzzled at the end. So now, Zion is part of the Matrix as well? It's a safety net for those who cannot except the program? The Oracle is a baddie? What? I'm wondering wether that last thing was intended, or wether it was just because Gloria Foster passed away before she could finish her shooting on Revolutions. As for the freeway sequence... manoman! This gave quite the rush. And Neo kicks Superman's butt! But then at the end, when they intercut Trinity fighting with the Creator explaining all those stuff to Neo, it felt like things were intruding on eachother. It's hard for me to put this in words, but that's how I felt. Great work by Davis, especially on the Trinity/Agent shootout at the end. But I was kinda annoyed by those secondary Zion characters like Bane and that kid? Who the F where they? Were they from the Animatrix or something? That Bane guy seemed to be a bad guy for no obvious reason at all. Weird. And the Keanu vs. Collin Chou fight seemed to scream "Look, we're fighting! Isn't this cool?" There was no reason for that sequence. The Burly Brawl was great to see though, even though it did go on for quite a while and became dizzying at the end. And finally, after sitting through that head-splitting crap they call music at the end credits, we got a brief glimpse at Revolutions. This looks great. November is gonna be another great month. I laugh in the face of all those fools who left at the start of the credits. BUAHAHAHAHAHAA... - Marc, who is glad they didn't shut off the projector too early this time... Anybody watch 'Six Feet Under'?
Mr. Breathmask replied to jasonblueeyes's topic in General Discussion
I've watched the first season. It was on a couple of weeks ago here in Holland, but has now stopped to make way for the second season of The Soprano's which I also watch. I think Six Feet is great. It combines comedy with drama, and every character is a real person. Great acting and directing. - Marc, who didn't notice until the final episode or so that all scenes with Billy are shot with handheld cameras. -
Er... - Marc, who wonders wether this is a parody on the "Am I the only one who likes The Asteroid Field?" thread. Entry into the Great Hall and The Banquet from Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

Odd use of ANH imperialtheme in ep III? (from CNN interview)

Let's hope that never happens. - Marc, who thinks Lucas would sooner remake the original films than make episodes VII - IX. -
You should, Ren. - Marc

Analysing other people's post can come off badly as well. Sorry to say this. - Marc, who will try to stay on the sidelines of this as much as he can.

I can't really answer the question for you, I think it has something to do with the Pinnochio references (although the scene where Neary wants his kids to go see the film was not in the original cut - only the music box remained). But incidentally, I bought the score last Saturday, along with Jaws and Superman: The Movie, and it was kind of overshadowed by those two at first. But I just finished listening to it again, and manoman! I thought the Finale from E.T. was musical perfection... I was wrong: this is! That last track literally takes my breath away! I freakin' love this score! - Marc, very enthousiastic. Cluster One from The Division Bell (Pink Floyd) ... for some reason.

It's a new rule that will officially be instated next year (Shore's LotR: TTT was going to be ruled inelligable, but stayed in the running after protests from New Line and Shore). So no nomination for RotK, and no nominations the following years for Indy, Harry Potter or Star Wars. http://www.jwfan.net/modules.php?op=modloa...article&sid=227 - Marc The Returnees from Close Encounters of the Third Kind -
Why is Williams not on the CETK Opening Credits?
Mr. Breathmask replied to Hitch's topic in General Discussion
Maybe it IS because the music was such an integral part of the movie, and Spielberg didn't want to mention it. The cast wasn't either, I think. - Marc, guessing randomly. Trucking from Close Encounters of the Third Kind -
I'm wondering, I'm not familiar with the comics, but are the stories for the films taken directly from the comics, or are they adapted, or is it mostly original work? - Marc

Yeah, those blue smoke effects were great. I gripped my seat with that revolving slow-motion shot in the oval office where all the agents are firing at Nightcrawler and he keeps teleporting to the next agent. The music and the visuals for that opening scene were great! - Marc Cantina Band #2 from Star Wars
-
I don't know. I guess it depends on what kind of movie I were making. But if I ended up with an orchestral score, I would tell my sound people to treat the mix like a song. The dialogue and the effects are the lyrics, while the music provides feeling and atmosphere. - Marc

Don't worry Justin. I have the 1999 VHS boxset, and on there the film is listed as Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark as well, but the title Raiders of the Lost Ark still remains. I'm positive this will be the case here too. -

Looks great! Don't see the need for a foolscreen set, though. Who's going to buy that anyway? Maybe it's just a mistake. But it can't stop me from being excited about it. - Marc, who thinks Pan & Scam sucks. -
All right, so I said that I stayed for the music, but that's not the only reason. It IS the reason I STARTED watching end credits, back on VHS, when my interest in film scores was just a tiny seed in my brain. But I also stay for the cast listing, or see if I see any familiar names among the crew. It's also a great way to look back on the picture and evaluate it, just sitting there still in the dark. And of course, as has been said, I paid for the entire film, and I want to see all of it. Plus I think it is quite respectless to walk out the minute the first line of credits comes on screen, but that's just my point of view. And I don't see how one person sitting in the back of the theatre can stop the personnel from cleaning. - Marc
