Mr. Breathmask got a reaction from Pieter Boelen in NEW Audio interview with Mike Matessino about The John Williams Jurassic Park Collection
It's a testament of Williams' timeless brilliance. Somehow, he manages to crank out a score that generates a whole new generation of film music lovers eery ten, fifteen years. That's amazing. It's as true a signew of the man's craft and talent as any and the reason a place like this is still going after almost twenty years. I doubt any composer could challenge such an achievement.
That might be the most fanboyish thing I've ever written, but... uh, well... there it is.

I didn't care that much for Superman II or III, but Superman IV: The Quest for Peace is the real gem of that collection. Great score and highly underrated!

I saw Jurassic Park long before I ever saw Star Wars. I first saw JP in 1994. I didn't see a Star Wars movie until 1999 and that was The Phantom Menace.

Nice interview. Thanks for sharing!
"Soundtrack buyers do have an expensive hobby. And I'm very, very grateful that they exist and that they support all these efforts. I will just advice John Williams fans to save some money. Particularly over the next year or so. There are a lot of things happening."
Oh my.

Mr. Breathmask got a reaction from crocodile in Jurassic Park and The Lost World Complete Release coming from LaLa-Land Records on 29th of November
It's here!
Unfortunately, despite the copious amount of bubble wrap, the case still got damaged and needs to be replaced (the lid holding disc four fell off after opening).
But so much awesome music is here, so who cares?!

I liked the bit about the convoluted right issues and how the Falling Car/T-Rex Chase combination could be done because T-Rex Chase was released in 2013. It's a behind the scenes detail none of us would likely consider when looking at the track lists.
To add to that: thank the film score gods Universal was willing to part with the rights for the unreleased parts from Rescuing Sarah so that track could be restored to full glory!

Mr. Breathmask reacted to JurassicParkPodcast in NEW Audio interview with Mike Matessino about The John Williams Jurassic Park Collection
Long time lurker and of course huge fan of JW. I absolutely love the new collection, as it's something I've been longing for since 1997. TLW score has been severely underrated and of course given a shortened 14 track OST originally... but now we can all rejoice. TLW extras have given renewed life to the score and I hope this gives it exposure to those who haven't gotten into it before. So far the "Corporate Helicopters" is my favorite addition. Amazing work by JW.
I don't want this to seem like a flat out plug, but I interviewed Mike Matessino this past weekend about this collection and figured I'd give you all a heads up. Take a look if you want to: http://www.jurassicparkpodcast.com/home/2016/12/12/interview-w-mike-matessino-produced-edited-mastered-the-la-la-land-records-jurassic-park-collection-episode-77
I'll try not to lurk anymore and actually be an active participant. I've always liked coming around here.

Could be good.
Now please cast Val Kilmer, George Clooney and Christian Bale as the next few Marvel villains.

Mr. Breathmask reacted to FC4L in Jurassic Park and The Lost World Complete Release coming from LaLa-Land Records on 29th of November
Mine finally shipped today! Thanks LaLaLaEmployee3!
Now it should arrive before the holidays and will instantly take me back to X-mas '94 when I got the original soundtrack CD. I even snuck it out from under the tree on X-mas eve, carefully unwrapped it and listened to it on my crappy bookshelf stereo in my room as a fell asleep. Then the next morning re-wrapping it and slyly slipping it back under the tree while others were concerned with stockings and coffee. Best. Christmas. Ever!

Mr. Breathmask got a reaction from crumbs in Beauty and the Beast (2017 Live Action)
The timeline in 1991's Beauty and the Beast is a bit wonky. The rose is supposed to bloom until Beast's 21st year and we see it drop its last petal, so we know Beast is 21 by the end of the film. But Lumière mentions they've been enchanted for ten years, which would mean Beast was 11 when he turned the beggar lady away.
It gets even more confusing when you realize Chip (Mrs. Potts' son) looks like he's about eight years old when the spell is broken.

Did Grace Kelly ever look better?
I watched Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone yesterday evening. I was in direct need of some comfort viewing, which this film luckily provided. And such a lovely score, too.

Mr. Breathmask got a reaction from Marian Schedenig in What Is The Last Film You Watched? (Older Films)
The Little Mermaid
I had the pleasure of seeing this on the big screen yesterday. There's something uniquely magical about seeing handdrawn animation on a 20-foot screen. Every brushstroke, every inkline, indeed every handdrawn frame stands out and the entire screen oozes with the animators' efforts. It's a sight to behold. The Little Mermaid is the last of Disney's animated films that was finished on traditional cells and at times you can actually see the shadow one cell casts on another. Some see it as a technical glitch, I loved seeing the medium's vulnerabilities laid bare on the big screen, all while the film still holds up thanks to its heart felt story and spectacular animation (Glen Keane is a god!).
There's three more Disney classics returning to the cinema this month (including two handdrawn features) and I'll likely be seeing them all as I thoroughly enjoyed this.
The Man from U.N.C.L.E.
Stylish and fun, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. is a great romp that takes us through a classy fantasy version of the 1960's. The three leads all give great performances and Guy Ritchie directs with style and flair. It's a fun movie for sure and it was great to hear an original score that made clear choices and was very prominent in the mix (unlike with some other contemporary action films). However, some of the action scenes leave something to be desired and while I was thoroughly entertained for two hours, I somehow don't expect to return to this film very soon. Still, if you've got two hours to spare, you could do far worse than this.
