Customizing the Phantom Menace Soundtrack
Goldsmithfan replied to MrScratch's topic in JOHN WILLIAMS
As we're nearly four years from when this was posted, I'm far less optimistic. Anybody care to PM me in the direction of one of those listenable edits? -
I'm surprised more people aren't working with this poster. I like it quite a bit.

The scene from Fantasia was censored in 1969. This is nothing new. Now, they're putting disclaimers at the beginning of movies and in their description. Your bizarre movie-based history program is still relatively intact.
-
So there's a guarantee that we'd all have felt exactly as the filmmakers did? That's a new one. For my money, the piece from Man on Fire was always way too saccharine for the scene where it was used. And don't even get me started on the use of music from Aliens. Hey! I don't feel the same way as the filmmakers! What is happening???
-
Exactly. It's not easy and it's not cheap. But let's also not forget him joking with Craig Huxley when he killed his "solo" during the Star Trek: The Motion Picture sessions.

What Is The Last Film You Watched? (Older Films)
Goldsmithfan replied to Mr. Breathmask's topic in General Discussion
The Hunger Games: 9/10 I thought it was a damn fine film with some serious emotional content. On top of that, it was a strong condemnation of violence and the absolute garbage that we watch as entertainment. -
3 truths about John Williams not covered in the media
Goldsmithfan replied to Augie's topic in JOHN WILLIAMS
Another truth: John Williams has one uterus and two penises. Figure that one out! (Jerry Goldsmith sported an invisible handlebar mustache for the last fifteen years of his life.) P.S: I too am a mook. -

"Plato's Stepchildren" by Alexander Courage. Quite an interesting psychological score, especially by Original Series standards. I really enjoyed the theme for the Platonians. -
What Is The Last Score You Listened To? (older scores)

Last thing I listened to was Williams' Jane Eyre. In a word: gorgeous. -
Why do people have to argue about everything on the Internet?!? The film doesn't require you to read anything to understand it. It's OBVIOUSLY got a religious bent to it. Now, unless those explanations were written by anyone who actually worked on the film, they amount to nothing more that what's happening here. And who wants to have a work of art explained to them anyway? You like it or you don't. I loved it. It's a great film that's full of ideas regarding that age-old concept that we call "belief".

Ever hear the women singing on SWANH: Princess Leia?
Goldsmithfan replied to InTheCity's topic in JOHN WILLIAMS
Are we talking about a point before or after the Blaster Beam counterpoint ends? -
Based on that track list, it looks like you could literally assemble a whole other version of the score with the alternates. I might have to do that as this is one of the few scores whose alternates interest me.

Yet another John Williams plagiarism video
Goldsmithfan replied to mrbellamy's topic in JOHN WILLIAMS
Whoever made that video is extremely ignorant. Elfman didn't "rip off" the Riddick theme. He created a new version/interpretation of Fiedel's theme. Oh and the "beat" he refers to regarding The Ghost and the Darkness/Dinosaur is actually a rhythm. People always get those two mixed up. As far as the Horner "rip-offs" go... In these instances he was referencing himself! He's got every right to! -
Not quite the same as the local used CD place by me. They had a copy of the anthology box for sale (sans box and booklet; atrocious) and eventually began selling the discs separately! The last time I was there, all they had was disc 3. I can't help but wonder if some ignorant schmuck accidentally bought disc 4 by itself...

Jurassic Park 3D re-release in theaters April 5 2013
Goldsmithfan replied to Matt C's topic in General Discussion
If they show it in 2D at my theater, I'll see it. 3D doesn't interest me. Same with Titanic.- 503 replies

Track titles for Fan Edits
Goldsmithfan replied to #SnowyVernalSpringsEternal's topic in General Discussion
I try to name mine after lines of dialogue. Since Raiders has been mentioned so many times, I'll use it as an example: 1. The Poison is Fresh 2. Stay out of the Light 3. Adios Señor 4. Show a Little Backbone 5. The Army That Has the Ark... is Invincible 6. You Know What a Cautious Fellow I Am 7. Your Fire is Dying 8. I'm Your Goddamn Partner! 9. You Can't Do This to Me! I'm an American! 10. I am the Monarch of the Sea! 11. [Here Comes the Sun] 12. Indy, Are You Crazy?!? 13. You Go First 14. It's My Family Label 15. Indy, the Torch is Going Out! 16. Come here! 17. I'm Making This Up as I Go 18. Where Doesn't It Hurt? 19. Don't You Touch Me 20. I've Found Him 21. The One, True Ark 22. It's Beautiful! 23. I Know What I've Got *This may or may not be facetious -
Intrada re-releases Alan Silvestri's Predator (Unlimited this time)
Goldsmithfan replied to Jay's topic in General Discussion
I like that idea, but I prefer the idea of two versions of the ending, which is what I was hoping to see: a.) Original intended version: The Aftermath/End Credits b.) Film version: He's My Friend/End Credits But we can't all have what we want. It's always irritated me when labels keep in-film edits intact on the album. I guess the Star Trek: Nemesis album isn't correct because it didn't splice "Final Flight" into the end credits as in the 'film version'. Gimme a break. -

Goldenthal's Batman Forever. What a terrific score. I love the La-La-Land presentation, though I can't help but wonder why 'Chase Blanc' wasn't included in the complete score section...
