http://cgi.ebay.com/ALIEN-Jerry-Goldsmith-...1QQcmdZViewItem You'd think that with the legit release of the complete score these sales wouldn't fly anymore. Apparently not everyone knows such an even took place. Although anyone in the score community who doesn't yet know must be blind and deaf.

So being less intelligent makes it a better film. Um, excuse me while I vomit. I like Jaws a hell of a lot better than Star Wars because of the fact that it's not as "popcorn". Though it's certainly no Blade Runner. That was precisely what I had in mind.
-
I haven't dismissed Jaws. I plan on getting it very soon. But, right now, $10 is more within my price range.
-
I don't own the score to Jaws yet. But an opportunity has arisen which would allow me to get a sealed (and unwarped) copy of the score to Jaws 2 on LP. Ya think I should go for it? It's about $10. I can already predict the replies coming my way. Or can I?

I reccomend: Runaway Alien Nation The Lonely Guy S*P*Y*S and Tron. Wait a minute...

Which is the most superior secondary Indiana Jones theme?
Goldsmithfan replied to Quintus's topic in General Discussion
You're not the only one. I bought all of them on vinyl as well. Only I got the DCC 2-LP Raiders for... Dare I say it?... $13.30. Biggest deal EVER!!! I love the father/son theme. So wonderful. And the theme for the Grail. Oy, I can't wait for it to arrive!!! -
Film Score Monthly announces the Blue Box - Superman.
Goldsmithfan replied to TownerFan's topic in JOHN WILLIAMS
Okay, so now it's got two things I'm interested in: The Ron Jones material and, of course, the complete score to Superman: The Movie. I'm not going to pay $119 for something which someone else could get complete enjoyment out of. I'll just have to buy the ol' Rhino release... -

I juuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuust got around to buying the score to The Last Crusade off of Ebay. Now I'll finally have all three. Well... that's kind of odd to say considering I just started buying them in October or so. -

I too would say Parade of the Slave Children, IMHO one of the top 10 Jw tracks ever. I think Marion's theme is wonderful too. I second that. Parade of the Slave Children all the way. -
Ditto.

Music in Film Trailers - what's going on?
Goldsmithfan replied to nicholas's topic in General Discussion
Oy... Because of their overuse in pop culture I find that O Fortuna, Ride of the Valkyries and Thus Spake Zarathustra now annoy the hell out of me. -
Name me something that has the same atmosphere of TMP then. It's not about being "the same" as TMP. It's about what's better in our respective opinions. I like Nemesis better. Not because it's "the same" but because it was so vastly different.
-
I adore Nemesis. It's indescribeable. It was a bold move for Goldsmith and it's certainly my favorite.

The Day the Earth Stood Still - The composer you'd choose
Goldsmithfan replied to Taikomochi's topic in General Discussion
I have no interest in this project whatsoever, but I'd like to hear a new score by Elliot Goldenthal. I think he could do wonderful things with a story such as this. And, if he could refrain from echoing other composers and do something truly standout, my curiosity would be piqued if Horner were announced as the composer. Though I fear that's asking for something rather large. -

I'm not whining about the set being $120 for three discs. I'm complaining because I only want the first score. Blabbity. -

I'm excited to hear that the original Superman score will be available once again, and in its complete form, but that's the only one of the lot I'm interested in. I'd love to get my hands on it, but I don't feel like paying $120 for only one score I'm interested in. -
Yes, yes. A re-retooling is just what the Star Trek universe needs. NOT!

Movies that should have taken a Williams score
Goldsmithfan replied to Jarbas's topic in General Discussion
Ladyhawke. But I think that film would benefit from a different score, period. -
Thanks again. I find it absolutely ludicrous that they wouldn't send fixed copies to everyone and recall the defective ones. Absolutely idiotic. I'm really debating about whether or not to get it. I hadn't heard a note of it... or so I thought, until recently. I checked the samples at Screen Archives and really liked the first one. However, when the sample for the end credits came up, I immediately remembered having heard the piece in a documentary about The Nightmare Before Christmas. The material grabbed me instantly and I went to the library to grab the soundtrack to The Nightmare Before Christmas. Imagine my disappointment.
-
Hmm... It seems I may have to look further into this so that I can verify whether or not there was a re-pressing of the re-pressing. Weird. Thanks!
-
I remember that the re-release had something wrong with it, but can't remember exactly what. Now that I really want to get it, I'm curious as to what this defect is. I don't want to throw my money away on something which I know is going to be imperfect. Just what's wrong with the new copies?

My post was a 100% joke. People must not get my sense of humor. At work, there's always music playing through the crappy speakers set into the ceiling. It's the same thirty or so songs over and over again. Basically top 20 crap from the past twenty or so years. I thought it would be amusing to make a mix CD of some of those songs and leave them out for people at Christmas, making it look like a generous gift or something. I told a co-worker the idea and she thought it was fantastic. Anyway, the time came and I left the CDs out. When people came back from having heard the material on the discs they just said things like, "That was weird," or, "What was that about?" Only one person who grabbed a copy actually got the joke. Yeesh. I guess it's true. People don't pay attention to music playing in the background. And people don't get my humor.

When I listen to scores from adult films I can't help but see pink. Lots of pink. Everywhere pink. Pink.

What is the Last Film You Watched? - Part II
Goldsmithfan replied to Lurker's topic in General Discussion
I wholeheartedly concur. I'm so very, very glad I wasn't the one to say it. I read the book before I saw the film and was thoroughly underwhelmed by the film version. People never seem to grasp the idea given the fact that the film is virtually word for word, but the operative word here is "virtually". The scenes which were in the book and not the film allowed for a much greater build-up as well as the growing idea in the reader's mind that perhaps Regan is just troubled. In the film, no such luck. She was possessed. Period. The flame exploding from the candle when Chris when to check the attic was one of those pandering horror moments added to the screenplay that just wrecked it for me. -
What is the Last Film You Watched? - Part II
Goldsmithfan replied to Lurker's topic in General Discussion
The last movie I watched was Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Entertaining as ever. I'm probably going to watch The Last Crusade tonight. I just got around to the DVD set (widescreen of course) so I've got to make sure they play alright. Although... buying it now might have been futile since the fourth installment is coming next year. Who knows what Luscasfilm has up their sleeves?
