Now that, I want to hear. Me too. New music by McCarthy summoning applause? That's got to be a lie. He hasn't written anything good for Star Trek since the first season of TNG. They should have never fired Jones!

I heard that he's having a lot of trouble with Zwartboek, which makes me sick. I guess no one has sense enough to give a good director a chance these days. It's all about CG garbage.

Yeah . . . by 'you know what' you mean STAR WARS, right? Thought so. Personally, I can't stand the STAR WARS films . . . but that's me. There are no good films coming out anymore. Cameron has sold out and Verhoeven is back in Holland making Zwartboek which may or may not happen. We can only dream that that does, in fact, happen along with his proposed American project. Maybe they'll also revive the project Verhoeven wrote with his old partner from Flesh + Blood, a real movie.

Only when it's one of those crazy porno film scores! Jeez, those things are rhythmic. Not that they don't need to be though! 8O I know this is kind of off subject, but did anyone see the Family Guy episode when they were at the Oscars or somethign and the next award was for best adult film score? They showed a cartoon version of Ron Jones (appropriate, considering he's written a lot of music for the show) and John Williams! I loved it! Williams was conducting a full-sized orchestra of course, and the score was built upon the Leitmotiv idea! Or so it would seem from the short clip that played. I just thought it was nice, fake, head-banging music composed by a cartoon version of Williams.

I love it! 8O You're not the first one to elude to how opinionated I am! Oh, and I love that pic of Picard. Where is that from! Ex-actly! He's one of those amazing directors that Hollywood has been too dumb to let work to his full potential. I can't stand the way the system of making films works. They just put a bunch of asses in charge who wouldn’t know a good movie if it were in their pants ripping their genitals apart. Or something like that. Bastiges!

Hmm . . . A new director for a Conan film. Why does this lower my expectations? Oh, that's right. Directors nowadays are sure that The Rock, Vin Diesel, and Triple H are good actors. How about . . . NO! Ya see, 90% of Arnold's films may suck, but he's a good actor who just happens to have had multiple wins at the Mr. Olympia. We don't want Schwarzenegger clones, we want a good actor. Don't look through wrestlers, look for actors who happen to be large or who could become large. I'd choose Lou Ferrigno. He's the right age, the right size and he can act! I don't think the new Conan film should even be attempted without Milius. It's not that I think other directors aren't capable (Verhoeven, Cameron, Scott), but the younger directors are convinced that people who know martial arts are able to fly. When will the stuidos learn? In 1982 Conan - The Barbarian, one of the biggest hits of that year was released to huge audience acclaim. On premiere night they took two other films out of their theaters so they could show Conan on three screens all next to each other! People were lined up around the block. But then . . . As it always happens, the studio got greedy and instead of letting Milius work with his continuing story of Power and its consequences, they got another director who made a PG rated film that was released in 1984 for audience disappointment. Conan - The Destroyeror, as I call it, Conan For Kids! is considered by many to be a joke. And it is. They completely lost direction with Destroyer and they're about to lose it again when Milius was so close to helping regain it. We only need three ingredients for a good Conan film and they're not going to come together most likely: - A good actor in the lead - Basil Poledouris' talents - Milius at the helm And we don't need four things: - Vin Diesel - The Rock - Triple H - Wirework But Hollywood's lack of common sense will once again win. I wait for the days to return when movies are made to tell stories, not to make money.

I had planned to listen to the score on CD, but when I heard about the link on the site that lets you listen to all of the CD I HAD to check out the first track, if only to satisfy my need for hearing some of the score. I'm very pleased at how good this track is. It's very, very epic and powerful and I can't wait to get the CD. Who else loves this cue! I'm surprised that people are angered by the lack of the 'twinkling stars' theme. I think it helps the track explode at you. Probably into battle. I really liked Anakin's Dream too. Gotta love the Across the Stars theme! Oh, and I was just reminded that Williams seems to re-use an ostinato from Zam the Assassin in Star Wars and Revenge of the Sith. It's the seven beat ostinato from Zam, if that helps. Anyway, this time it's performed by flutes. Classic Williams orchestrations in this cue. It's fairly reminiscent of ESB in the strings. I love the string work for this score so far.

Wherever it's cheapest. I figure that those bonus tracks will be floating around for quite a while . . .

I was thinking along those lines as well. However, in a slightly different way. I know it's not a theme, but the two notes for the strings that come after Spock's theme in 'The Mind Meld' from TSFS are very noble. To me anyway. I'm trying to think of others but I can't! I've got another, but I'll get a good lashing for it due to my username. Oh well! The french horn rendition of Jack's theme when he finds 'The Armour' in Legend. You know whose Legend I'm referring to!

I'm not necessarily knocking the set either. I just don't like compilations very much. I think that all scores should see a release though, rejected or not. The composers still put effort and time into them and just because the filmmakers didn't necessarily see eye to the composer doesn't mean that the music shouldn't see the light of day. Run-on sentence . . . ?

Well I'd just rather have six expanded releases or previously unreleased scores instead of a stupid six CD compilation. Ridiculous!

I definitely agree with this. I don't think that a score can be fully understood until you see the film which it was written for. I absolutely loved the score to Flesh + Blood before I saw the film, but now that I've seen the movie, it is one of my all time favorites and I appreciate the nuances in it much more than I did before. I didn't even notice certain things until I saw the film. I think people should decide whether or not they like the score now, but even if you don't like it you should wait until you see the film before you write the score off . . . which I highly doubt anyone will.

Yeah, that box set was pretty atrocious. I didn't bother getting it. Instead of a compilation they should have released Alien Nation, Alien (Complete) and tons of other stuff that needs a re-release or any release at all. I'll never trust Varese after such a huge buildup to such a terrible release.

And by Alien Nation, I mean Jerry Goldsmith's rejected score. I know that it's not perfect, but few scores approach perfection. I'm also aware that the sound quality is terrible, but let's get around that. I think it's a solid action score with a nice, jazzy theme that's better in the renditions in this score than it is in The Russia House. It's amazing what a few little notes can do for a theme. But anyway, I can't understand why this score is hated by so many who hear it so I'd like to get some clarification on the subject.

That's for sure. I pretty much wrote that because I'd love to see that happen and it's probably the best thing that would happen in the movie if it was written in. I love the comments! Great stuff! The "training ball in your pocket" is such a fresh spin on such an old cliche. Should I expand on the story . . . ? I will, but I probably shouldn't! Okay, maybe there'd be a scene after that when the still nude Padme goes to the Jedi counsol to ask them for help in defeating Palpatine (very unlikely, but it's a stupid idea from me!) and all the alien Jedi bow, but Mace says something like, "Forgive me, senator. I would stand and bow to you, but it would make me seem too . . . eager." Then Yoda could laugh and say something like, "Ah . . . Master Windu's thoughts I see. Bow for the both of us I will," then he sadly continues with, "e. d. I have." Surprised, all the other Jedi look at him and Mace says, "You Master Yoda?" Then Yoda retorts with, "When 874 years you reach, excite so easy you will not." Hmm . . . I hope that isn't over-the-top or insulting. If it is, I'm done!

Anakin should get angry at Padme and use his force powers to blast the clothes from her body . . . but he uses a mind trick to make her oblivious of her nudity and she walks around in that state for the rest of the film. It should happen in the first scene.

I remember hearing those two cues in the film. Especially the second. I think that a part of that is on the Racer game, but I don't remember. I think I'll get the UE whenever I get a chance. It'll probably be decades if they ever decide to do a 2 CD release of TPM like the 2 CD Special Editions of the original trilogy. Hopefully a similar release will be made for Episode II when the time comes. I just wish Williams could have scored all of the arena and droid battle scenes in Episode II. That way, when the expanded (or hopefully complete) release comes, we'd have a bit more music to listen to.

That whole album is a mess and a disgrace to John Williams and his music. Neil Hmm . . . Maybe I'd better give the movie another look (and listen!) to see if the UE is too bad to buy. They've got it at overstock.com for only $18, but hearing this kinda makes me feel hesitant about getting it at all.

It's been quite a while since I watched the movie. Oh, and I remember hearing the unreleased tracks on the Podracer game. I remember the track from the destruction of the Trade Federation ship most prominently.

That would pose quite a problem when trying to figure out the order. I had no idea that Williams' music was butchered so bad when it was put into the film.

I remember reading that when it was first posted. It seems to have gotten a lot larger since then though. I lack the computer skills and the sources for the music to actually make an edit myself. I'll probably get the UE and make do with that and the OST. I've heard about people having a lot of trouble with The Battle of Naboo. Is that because much of the music is still unreleased or is it just really complicated?
