  1. Is very soon. My prediction for best score is probably debney, though i would love it if Williams won. Do you think they will have a goldsmith/raskin tribute tonight? I hope they do. two fine composers.
  2. That was pretty good. I especially like the beginning with guitar. I also have some stuff i wrote too. I'd love to get feedback as well. http://www.acidplanet.com/artist.asp?AID=2...285685&T=874091
  3. http://www.lucksmusic.net/featured/feature...CatNumber=13003 Hm...60 bucks eh? But we don't know the song list. But still, it's now listed in their catalogue!
  4. love his stuff too. days of wine and roses. panther. and of course, who could forget great mouse detective (Which is definately his best score:D). william's sabrina is so mancini-esque.
  5. I love the main titles to Spiderman. How the horns do that third root movement thing (reminds me of braveheart). And that choir, just adds so much prettiness. I also love the extremely etheral harmonics with the violins at the beginning. It's really good.
  6. Let us not forget mr raskin and kamen. rather than an honorary oscar for wiliams, i think they will have a memoir thing for 3 brilliant composers, like a mini tribute.
  7. Canada is SO a country. do not blame your nice neigbours to the north.
  8. Does anyone feel like posting transcripts of JW related stuff from his dvds-such as terminal? I got some dvds (and vhs) before they did the ultimate version of them dvds with JW interviews/featurettes.
  9. How bout in comparison to the Vienna? Is the East West better or worse?
  10. Someone must tell me ASAP. Is the close encounters score from Hal Leonard the suite the same one on the Greatest Hits or the JW conducts SW trilogy cd?
  11. You know what I hope they add? I wish they added more concert versions, ESP THrone Room and Han Solo (which was finsihed in 1997 i think). Also, i wish they had the yub nub song cuz i never had it on my special edition version. I was rather fond of that song over the newer victory song, perhaps because the newer victory song was too gentle for a victory celebration. I'm thinking brass fanfares, not a flute solo. or maybe choir like hallelujah. but i doubt williams will write new music.
  12. What i mean is why does JW visit little towns that aren't visible on the average home owners globe and not toronto? urgh, he should come here. ANd btw, call of the champions is in D too.

  14. also remind him that there is a country called Canada. And we are neighbours to the US. Why doesn't JW ever visit Canada? I mean he goes to unknown cities in the US but never visits toronto, the best city (and most multicultural) in the world?
  15. I use pen and paper to sketch themes and fifty different potential variations. afterwards, i key it into finale (i can't find sibelius off kazaa ;p) and listen to it really carefully. often i find that i do my transpositions wrong haha. then afterwards, i fix it, and edit orchestration some more. i find pen and paper is much easier to sketch out sonata form ideas and inversions of themes rather than finale. I dont have any samplers partially duin to the fact that i don't have 1000 dollars to spend. i have an old 1999 computer which serves its purpose. I am still in high school so I don't have enough to purchase the VSL, though I'd love to get it. I'm hoping to earn enough to make my own personal studio by the time i get into university, so a computer, good keyboard, samplers, lotsa programs. i dunno if i can make 10000 haha. Anyone selling old stuff that works?
  16. haha coocoo. btw, anyone else have acidplanet stuff? nice to exchange our williams influenced muzak here.

  18. I liked the songs, they were interesting on a whole. I love the winds in general because their timbres are so much more varied than strings. I definately heard williams in the olympic piece. Maybe its the snare part that reminds me constantly of olympic fanfare and theme. Or maybe some ostinatos remind me of Summon the heroes. I don't know, but its distinctly williams. Nice to hear that you used your influence in your music. Hehe, since we are distributing our music here, here's my acidplanet site. http://www.acidplanet.com/artist.asp?AID=2...=285685&T=18997 I confess that these are all terrible versions. The orchestral ones are all midi synthesized. The only live on is for the fallen. I must also confess that none of the players (or singers) are professionals, so they are flat in several areas and sometimes playing distinctly wrong things. If only my classmates were profs, but they aren't. Haha. Hope you like em anyways.

    YES

I got the monsignor lp! I feel so happy. Yes! Anyone else have it and wanna chat bout the interesting score?
  21. AOTC and chamber of secrets were horrible scores so i agree completely with jw for pulling it off the nomination list. especially aotc. you'd think he would create a better score since he knew he was gonna do episode 2 when lucas announced episode 1. episode 1 was good, but episode 2 was shit. that love theme is good, but it gets overplayed every 10 minutes in generally the same instrumentation. the thing about the skywalker theme in the original was that it was mutated and was in different instrumentation, which made it good. episode 2 had only 3 major themes which weren't used that well. meadow picnic was decent as was the arena. everythnig else, meh. this bias might be cuz i wanted more concert versions of the themes though. chamber of secrets was awful despite the fact that it had concert arrangements. the only good new theme worth buying the album for is fawkes. dobby and gilderoy were miserable in my opionion. even the jar jar theme was better than those. i really hope he does something decent for episode 3 cuz he knows WAY in advance.
  22. I am so confused. Is king mark ken or is he posting a notice from ken
  23. I was thinking for sometime and remembered that kamen is dead. Then my mind wandered to williams and i was like OH NO! he's like 70 something. He's getting old that means he might die in the next ten years! So we might not hear stuff like WOTW cuz that will be in 4 years time or mebbe episode 7 if there is such a tihng. What will we do if he dies before the HP series is over? What will the spielberg film be without williams? like who will replace him?
  24. Why does everyone hate the Patriot? I love the main title and i'd say its one of Williams best songs. I must admit that it did not fit the movie that well, in fact one doesn't notice the music much in the movie. But the soundtrack is fine if you just listen to it. Some lush orchestrations of the same theme that reoccurs but then name any film score by JW than does not employ the leitmotif idea? Its hard cuz he brought it into common usage. (korngold and steiner more or less composed for a scene than for the whole thing, kinda making it like a mozartian opera but romantic style )
