I don't know where you got that LOL. I had been a die-hard John Williams fanatic for 7 years by the time Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom was released. His 'disaster scores' got me interested in his music during the mid-70s, then Star Wars made me a fan.
I thought you had said that one time. My mistake.

They are "excellent". I'll be finishing "Goblet of Fire" this weekend.

Damn you!! Getting my hopes up for nothing. Nothing!!!
Neil - who agrees with Joe and would really love a new recording of classic Indiana Jones music

I've heard better.
Care to name them???
As Tom said, certainly Raiders and Superman (and not in that order) .
Temple of Doom is certainly good stuff, but it seems that some of it's action scoring is similar to films like The Mummy Returns or Jurassic Park III. Those 2 films are not subtle in anyway, and neither is Temple of Doom. I've heard the ripped mp3's that were on this site years ago, and the extra bits from ToD were certainly fun and deserve to be released, but Williams has certainly done better.
But I understand Ricard's passion for this score. It was the score that got him interested in Williams, I believe. And believe me, the moment a complete Temple of Doom CD is released, I will have that in my posession immediately, and it will be played constantly. Maybe then ToD will be moved into "elite" status with other scores like Superman - The Movie, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Star Wars and Goldsmith's first Star Trek score, but I doubt it.

No, only new black and white movies.

Anyone ever notice how similarly Frank Langella looked compared to John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever? Shouldn't be so surprising, considering that both films were directed by John Badham.
As for the score, it's definitely a winner. The Dracula theme is used a bit much, but it's better than most of the newer stuff Mr. Williams has written.

You should get The Fury KM. If not, you may lose your king status.

Best Indiana Jones
Best John Williams
Best Film Score
NO DOUBT.
I've heard better.

Morn, obviously we all post here for fun. Nobody is getting paid to post or read any of the messages here. They should all be in fun.

You could maybe say the same about Williams
Williams is not as blatant as Whore-ner.
Neil - who think's "Anakin's Theme" certainly does sound Prokofiev inspired
-
I wasn't expecting to hear chunks of Alexander Nevsky.
A Horner score without a Prokofiev rip is not a Horner score.

Jean-Claude Van Damme. LOL

Melange is on vacation. He may be gone for awhile. Last time I heard from him, he's fine. He also had just purchased the Gerhardt recording of Star Wars in India I think.

Possibly the greatest combination of visuals and score occurs when Roy and Gillian finally get to see Devils Tower in Close Encounters of the Third Kind. There is no dialogue, just these 2 people looking at a big rock, but the music is absolutely perfect in conveying the emotions.

I was watching Superman and Superman 2 on tv last night and noticed that the introduction to the planet krypton at the start of S 2 uses the alternate version of The Planet Krypton from Superman, slightly edited though.
The expanded Rhino release of Superman - The Movie was a revelation, not only for finally getting the complete score to that film, but also revealing that Ken Thorne had access to everything Williams wrote for the first film. The alternate "The Planet Krypton" opening is just one of the unused bits that for years I thought Thorne just re-orchestrated. Also, there is un-used music in Jor-El's lab that I thought for sure was written by Thorne, until I got the Rhino set and realized Williams did it all first.
Thankfully, it was Thorne, and not Williams, that wrote "Honeymoon Hotel" for Superman II.

P.S. How do you get those cool pictures by your names?

Ummmmmmmmm, Superman - The Movie anybody?
Neil

Since someone mentioned Alien before - has anyone noticed that the music at the start of Aliens is the same as the music in Clear and Present Danger when they are investigating the bomb crater and the secret missile. Horner cutting corners again, methinks. He's no John Williams
Did you also notice that the music you are referring to first appeared in the Gayne ballet by Khatchaturian?

They sent it Last Thursday apparently. Hmmmm OK then. That sucks. I've heard from some people who got it in like a few days.
They must live closer to Varese then. A friend of mine got his copy last Wednesday, but he lives in California.

Rogue_Leader, Varese sends their shipments via UPS ground. It is trackable and insured. It also takes 5 business days to deliver from California to New York. My confirmation e-mail was sent out last Tuesday, and my discs showed up today, exactly 5 business days later and I live in New Jersey. When did you get your confirmation e-mail? If you want to see your package's estimated arrival time, take the tracking number Varese sent you and head on over to UPS.com.

Gamecube, you do realize Ricard was just joking, right?

Tracks that don't seem typical of "John Williams"

So are "Lapti Nek" and "Jedi Rocks" and I don't see anybody complaining.
BTW, Williams composed "Lapti Nek" while Jerry Hey wrote "Jedi Rocks".
