  1. To me neither of them are magical. They both lack that flare that Williams gave the series. They both lacked the feeling that transcended the movies and felt closely linked to the book. Williams' to me represents Harry Potter not the Harry Potter FILM. His music encompasses more than what's on screen. And I think that was a intentional creative choice. Because if you take the scores out of the movies they still work with the series. Hooper got my vote because his just sounded better. Like someone else said he does have this modern take that is different. His minimalism is nice, however wrong for Harry Potter. Doyle's score represent the film, a complete departure from the source material. His orchestrations were all off, his lack of consisting theme was annoying.
  2. Wow the guy joined today and asked a simple question, yeah the topic is old but HE JUST JOINED THE FORUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyways welcome Loveydovey, I hope you are able to get your question answered politely.

  9. Well, that too, but then people complain that my posts come across as nihilistic and depressing. So?
  10. No this couldn't have happened, sensing Mr Williams in danger I would have leap frogged (yes leap frogged) over to the restaurant and thrown the first pirates of the Caribbean score at you to slice your throat. Yeah that's right I got his back like that. Even if your (anticipated Williams defender) leap frogging unrealistically allowed you to survive my sharp over the shoulder boom shot, I'd always have my Plan B: Total demoralisation via 'THE CITY OF PRAGUE PHILHARMONIC PLAYS HORNER'S DANGER MOTIF... ON REPEAT' three cd album. The first disc alone would've been enough to send your Caribbean cd into 'lethal film score' oblivion. I've listened to bad rap and survived, my ears can whether Horner. Thus distracting you Williams would have pulled out his magic stick of wonder aka baton, and composed out of thin air something so brilliant your mind would have exploded. He would thank me and offer to score a movie I made. The rest is history. Thank you and good night.
  11. No lose faith in people. The masses demand crap so the factories (studios) will manufacture crap at the most sophisticated level. Don't blame the filmmakers entirely for making hot steaming piles of dung, blame the people who gorge on it like caviar.
  12. Being in the Directors seat many times now I realize how much influence the director has over his team of artists. The composer is no different. Of course a maestro like Williams will have some significant pull over what he will compose. But it is true he has to pleases his director and the film. Or end up like Yared.

  14. I think if Williams were reading this he would smile.

  17. I would wait till he was ready to leave and approach him then. Apologize for holding him up then give him the speech I would have rehearsed the short time waiting at my table. Then start crying for dramatic effect.
  18. I'm sure someone has posted this before if not shame on you all. Chairman's Waltz on So You Think You Can Dance
  19. None of them are bad. And I feel that If you don't like those examples some of them may not be his own doing. It may the suggestion of the director or some other outside influence.
  20. For those who have listened to this score. Should I get this or Ratatoullie?
  21. Um....Sleepers if only for the Football Game and Heartbeeps if only for well...every damn track.
