  1. Stanley and Iris. It's just fun, not very complex but just fun. Also Presumed Innocent.
  2. It is. Well, it is the method of the posters here to become elitist when someone posts something with the goal of annoying people. My method most of the time is to state my opinion then explain if requested.
  3. Damn it I want this so bad. I fell in love with Goldsmith through that score. This is how scores are supposed to be released in the first place. I wonder if there will ever be an extended Geisha or Munich. I can only dream of it I guess.
  4. You make a bold claim, you back it up. It's understood. Otherwise it's called trolling or being an attention whore. No it's not...people make silly childish posts and then take offense when they are criticized for it. Criticize and dismissing as irrelevant and unimportant art two different things. The similarities I see are few and far between and minuscule at best. And it's their irregular rhythms. As in The Hunt from Lost World and Goldsmith's The Scorpion, Let's Get out of Here, and The Big Jump. Now criticize my opinion, it's your right, however it is classless and immature to belittle it.
  5. This is a testament then to how well Hedwig's theme fits within the Harry Potter world. How well it captured its magic beyond even the movies.
  6. Then ask me. If you are interested. I did. This is neither new or special on Jwfan.
  7. I just thought of something. Double Trouble/Something Wicked This Way Comes is pretty much the theme of POA. If hypothetically speaking Williams had thought of this melody first, before Hedwig's theme and instead used it as the theme for the series would it work? Maybe.
  8. I find Goldsmith's and Williams' action pretty similar in some respect............yeah I said it so what?
  9. I'm looking forward to the Golden Compass. From the previews it looks as if the filmmakers are really tapping into the scenic and atmospheric writing of Pullman's HIs Dark Materials. I mean the movie can utterly suck but so far it doesn't look that way. Beowulf Eh.....Angelina Jolie as a hot seductive mother of Grendel? I thought Grendel's mother was a hideous angry bitch? If Kloves can get this script right and Yates can do the cave scene as well as it's written Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince just may be one of the highlights of the entire year. Some stuff i'm looking forward to not mentioned above: I am legened Will Smith is one of the best action movie stars. Trailer was amazing and everything so far points in the right direction. The Lovely Bones Awesome book awesome cast, great director. I'm sold
  10. I think Williams has the ability to write subtle strings and pull it off. Because he has. However it's not his style. Williams' is very romantic so his string will be no different. However I think it's unfair to wish he do something else since he has and has done it well. Williams' orchestrates like no other. Only a few I can think of can orchestrate kinda like him.
  11. There's a litmus test for telling whether someone is cool and has good taste in our book, and much of it circulates around whether they're in the camp of people who love and respect the music of Hans Zimmer or those silly mortals who don't understand the genius of one of the greatest living composers. To think I used to like that site.
  12. I enjoyed it even though I felt the writer was being "safe" by striping the book down to its bare bones. Neglecting so many things that made that book great. The Voldermort and Dumbledore duel was great but much too short. These are the two most powerful wizards and that was it? It should have went on longer. There should have been more shouting from Harry. And the final conversation between Dumbledore and Harry was a travesty. I can't see how Rowling can watch this film and not want to have Yates and the writer fired instantly. The Order duel with the Death eaters was amazing. I loved it, seeing all those wizards dueling was what we have been waiting for since november 2001. So it's much better than the fecal matter that is Goblet of Fire but weak in so many ways. But If judged as an adaption we see its flaws however a stand alone film it's actually a very well put together movie. I just hope the writer does a better of next time because Yates is perfectly capable of making a good potter film.
  13. Hate it. It needs to be slick and simple, something that doesn't make him look like an extreme sports athlete with a cape. I've always wanted a very gothic and dark Batman movie. I thought this would be it but.....I guess now.
  14. Speaking of Goldsmith I recently discovered how great of a composer he is. I listened to The Omen 2 and the Mummy. Thoroughly impressed by both.
  15. Typical Pixar teaser, teases you senseless.
  16. I like it, but now I want to hear three pianos.
  17. It's okay. But it's Ottman and he only does okay.
  18. No I'm not trying to do that. I merely said that because you all are attacking me because I'm not a fanboy. I just don't hold the same appreciation for this series as you all do. Have fun, be merry frolic in your galaxies far far away, for I will forever adore Harry Potter and his corniness.
  19. Children of Men. Cuaron.....again.........hmmm.
  20. No offense, but the fact that you're a Harry Potter fanboy kinda' weakens your arguement. A lot. Right because Stars Wars is the epitome of good filmmaking and whoever has something short of psychotic ,pubescent, toy collecting love for it must be daft. Alas I see the light.
  21. I totally agree. He was the only character I felt sorry for. When Turner was about to die I rolled my eyes because I knew this Deus Ex savior from god that will rescue him at the last minute would take up time, essentially I didn't care. When Davy Jones came on screen I lit up and wanted more of him. No one else in the series has done that. And then they just killed him off.
  22. I appreciate what Star Wars has done for your generation and it's position pop culture. However there is nothing in the stories that interests me. I love the movies and I think they are great. But that's it. None of the characters have any depth, Darth Vader isn't all that intimidating and when you see Seven Samurai you realize how much Lucas borrowed for that film. And it's not even a generation gap, I don't need realistic effects to enjoy a movie. I enjoy Indiana Jones. Like I said Star Wars is great, but there is no need for all this craze, the stories and characters are dated.
