Jay, I had earlier updated my other post in the previous page. MV just announced it on his own facebook page.

I'm excited to learn that's it's 2CD set and also a Vinyl. Can't wait for December. It's going to be an expensive month.

Ok. I hope it comes early. But I suppose if the movie is coming out in December the this CD set should be 'basically' in that time frame. Ok Update from MV on Facebook : "Deeply honored to be part of the 25th Anniversary release of this landmark film and it's score... Expanded and remastered 2 cd edition and Vinyl coming from La-La Land Records December 2018"

I like the album presentation of the OST as it is. I think if its being remastered then it should be as disc 1 and Disc 2 should be the archival film score in its proper chronological presentation with the alternates closing the album. What ever the arrangements I will trust Matessino's judgement on this as usual. Look real forward to it. So its coming out in December as a tie in to the theatrical release? I'm surprised they announced it this early.

Yes but they wont press another 4000 right away. I suppose they will be press 1000 first and as sale proceeds they will keep bringing it up. I'm sure the 4000 units was probably part of the deal they signed and they have the LP vinyl also planned. I wont rush out to get this immediatley but will pick this up as more lucrative titles are prepared in coming month(s).

I would have preferred a Herrmann recording (wasn't that in the cards?) But I hope this venture succeeds. A full recording of Rozsa's SAHARA or VALLEY OF THE KINGS would have been my choice.

Sounds very interesting. Not your typical orchestral flourishes here and there but this looks like a very decent performance overall. I'm getting this.

The last Williams related SACD was CLOSE ENCOUNTERS and that too was remastered by Steve Hoffman (who did the DCC RAIDERS cd and Vinyl) That SACD was marginal improvement since it used a stereo album master. Honestly, after LLL's superb presentation and sound quality I didn't feel the need to revisit the CE3K SACD.

So probably the Disc 2 is likely the OST arrangement or different mix with extras and bonus cues.

As per my understanding these Vinyl issues are part of the overall deal. MV mentioned that they came in part parcel of the projects undertaken.

Not even a itsy bitsy remastering? Strange.

Is this the one where the proceeds from this release will go as donation to some charity? MV mentioned something about it in the FSM threads.
