  1. At 110 minutes plus this new presentation would give the score a whole new life. Looking forward to it ie. I really hope it is ROBIN HOOD and not THE THREE MUSKETEERS. It would be quite a shock if it turned out to be the latter. ๐Ÿ˜
  2. I re-watched the film a few weeks ago and found the score and film to be quite appealing and all the unreleased cues are highly anticipated too. It's actually one of the most requested expanded title by film music aficionados and fans of the film.
  3. More tantalizing news here from Doug Fake on his Doug's Corner Intrada thread ! 1/7/2018With our first new release for 2018 arriving this Tuesday, January 9th, listeners will finally be able to own and enjoy one of the really epic film scores of the 90โ€™s, not just as the score portion of a popular CD from the day but as an expanded 2-CD score release with nearly 110 minutes of incredibly exciting music, more than half of it previously unreleased! With another 20-plus minutes of alternate music, this one is a fabulous addition to your action and adventure film score library. And, itโ€™s just great music - period. Watch for artwork and contents here Monday evening - January 8 - along with sound samples to savor.
  4. Roger Feigelson left a clue about an upcoming album without a popular theme song which would upset fans. I think it was in the FSM LLL TITANIC thread. That clue and Roger's clue leads me to strongly believe that this is going to be Michael Kamen's ROBIN HOOD: PRINCE OF THIEVES (without Bryan Adam's hit song) EDIT: it was Roger Feigelson and NOT Doug Fake who left the clue for the Jan/Feb release. Here is the exact quote: I guess Intrada will get some heat when we release an expanded score in January/February without the signature vocal as well. But it couldn't be licensed but there will be lots of new score on it. I'll brace myself for the complaints!-Roger Feigelson
  5. Yes terrific analysis from Doug Adams here. I wonder if there is more to this than just the podcast ? A new book perhaps? or A new book to coincide with the definitive reissues of all the 4 film scores from the Indy saga just in time for the 5th Indy movie.... now that would be something to behold ?
  6. I have been agonising over LEVIATHAN reissue for years now. There are numerous not so expensive copies floating around but not sure if I want to take the bait for it. Lets hope this comes out either from Quartet or Intrada (if not Varese) Also SUPERGIRL is another mystery as to why a new remaster with the complete score (and numerous alternates as on the Varese cd) is not yet out. Both The Silva and Varese albums are loooong OOP.
  7. None taken @Richard I was quoting from memory. Rather.. the fotoplay novel ๐Ÿ˜€
  8. Except for RUDY all the others received expansions and remasters. Did you get those?
  9. Yep. What I said on the FSM and Intrada thread. Angeldibujo wrote: Could it be at last the so much anticipated Michael Kamen's ROBIN HOOD, PRINCE OF THIEVES? If it is then Doug's (or Roger's) clue a while back about an upcoming title not including the hit song could mean Bryan Adam's song won't be in it much like Celine Dion's TITANIC song.
  10. " They can fly rings around Saturn but we are ways ahead of them on the highway! "
  11. Yes, the female choir comes out more prominent and the harp is also properly aligned in the channels. I feared that the sound quality from different timelines would not match but Matessino has made a total alignment and it blended so well. Also note that the Boston Pop version is a much different take.
  12. WOW! I just cant get over this terrific release. Listening to this score once again in its full regalia has nothing less than a Tour De Force experience. The remastering and the pristine sound quality is STUNNING! Also the flow of the program has to be complimented as both discs display a familiar narrative. I had thought That I would only play a few selections from Disc1 and jump directly to Disc 2 but that never happened as I was totally mesmerised by the flow of the music. The Choir is so much ethereal and alive at times that it gave me goosebumps. The first generation tapes gives a whole new life to this score and allows the sound to become an organic breathing living sound. Kudos to Mike Matessino on doing such an astounding work on editing, assembling, mastering and producing this fine work. I'm sure La-La Land Records, Steven Spielberg and John Williams must be beaming with pride on this final product. Also I love the liner note/ essay on the set.. Specially noted is how various key scores from John Williams most prolific output of the late 70's and early 80's come to play in and around the making of this score and film. This is by far is the best restoration and preservation of a Williams score to date. The bar keeps getting Higher!
  13. Thanks @Richard (Star Wars I already have from before but didn't have the RCA Victor book edition. These Book editions with the laser etched cds are by far the best pressings. Sony's repressing over the years during their contract didn't add much. This special packaging with the original Mike Matessino notes is the one to behold until Matessino revisits the trilogy/saga again.)
  14. As of now I have all of these JW goodies, all un-opened and ready to bing one some serious JOHN WILLIAMS stuff. ( Dont ask why I waited so long.!!) Dunno where to start either!
  15. Here is My E.T. Collection to date with the Japanese Audiophile edition:
  16. I think the movie is in trouble and they are pulling up the strings to save the movie. Thus Enter John Williams! Anyways.. It's good news for us and a reason for me to get the OST when it comes out next year.
  17. Here is the 23 minutes preview of the CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND segment from the full interview on SoundCloud. Listen to Challenging Tonality: 40 Years of Close Encounters of the Third Kind with Mike Matessino by timburden #np on #SoundCloud Again full interview will be up mid Jan. 2018.
  18. Bernard Herrmann's OBSESSION is the only I know of. We have a Williams Tribute Celebration concert on on Blu ray video though.
  19. There will be another excerpt this weekend where we will hear discussion on CE3K. The WHOLE interview will come out around Mid Jan 2018.
