I'm hoping PBS is broadcasting this in HD!
-
It was aired with last night's Simpsons episode on Fox. I noticed they reversed the car shot of Marge and Maggie so that Marge would be on the correct side of the car for North America.

Does anyone know anybody at Boston University that could get tickets for the Saturday May 13th evening concert? They bought out the whole place! Since I'll be there for the afternoon concert, it would be fun to go a second time that evening.

What do you think of The American Journey?
Foxfan replied to Indiana_Fett's topic in General Discussion
I had actually listened to American Journey before seeing/hearing Far and Away. Aren't there some passages similar to Rosewood as well? -
I've been coming down from Montreal for the past three years, so you can make the trip, nightscape.
-
I wasn't too happy that it was an afternoon concert, but it is the only day that I might be available to go down to the beantown. At least I'm sitting ORCH front row, so I won't see any "kids" in front of me... I'm still thinking of maybe getting balcony seats for Friday night if I can get that day off.
-
Welcome to the forum, fellow Canadian Bruuen. If you like the concert as much as I liked my first one in Boston three years ago, you'll be going back every year like I've been doing. Certainly worth the trip! Symphony Hall is addictive!

I managed to get them online, front row, a little to the right, for the Saturday afternoon concert. If I can get off work for the Friday I'll probably get some cheaper tickets for Friday night too. BTW, Saturday afternoon is the only time I've seen where most of the ORCH tickets aren't sold out already (the other concerts were listed for early group sales and got gobbled up). Anyone else going?

You need a library card, but you can get one instantly on site by showing proof of Quebec residency at the registration counter.
-
You don't even have to go outside. There is an entrance accessible from the Berri-UQAM metro.

I would never get tired of that minor 6th interval and the perfect octave drop just after it during the second phrase of the force theme...
-
Do they release the official vote counts? I'm sure that MoaG and Munich combined gives JW more votes than that other guy. Damn vote splitting!

I concur. I listen almost exclusively to Disc 2.
-
I got it for the "turning tide" cue with the bouncy "force theme". Plus I like this album because I got JW to sign it in Boston!
-
You should play "Presumed Innocent" on piano...
-
I like any rendition where the theme is played completely. I hate when they just tease us with the first phrase and don't go into the second one.

I see the text of the file, but it is not "clickable". Where do I click?

Fawkes the Phoenix!

Hmm. I hear it now too, but I'm sure it was intentional. It wasn't long enough to be something accidental, plus I don't think they had polyphonic cell phones back in 2001...

No one else is going??? For God's sake, THEY'RE PLAYING STAR WARS!!!

I saw some striking parallels between Episode 3 and the situation in the Canadian parliament. In a second attempt to avoid being defeating in a non-confidence vote (the Liberal government had previously ignored one claiming it wasn't authentic), the Liberal government managed to survive by only one vote, which was cast by the Speaker because the House ended up with a tie. This tie was caused by an opposition member that was lured to the government side just two days before the vote. Also, strangely, the Liberals were hysterical about staying in power, saying that they were the only ones that would be strongly against the "separatists". The biggest similarity is that the government managed to cling to power on MAY 19, 2005!

They now have a bus going round trip from Boston to Tanglewood for certain concerts (such as film night) for only $30.
-
Hello, Maestro. Unfortunately, no one has ever heard of John Williams meeting regular fans at Tanglewood (since there are between 15k and 20k people. He usually does meet with fans for pictures/autographs in Boston, where he should be conducting May 12, 13, and 16.

Dammit! Got up early. Manage to get some tickets. At checkout their site says system error, and the ones I had are no longer available! Well, I ended up buying 2 pairs. After I bought a pair out of the urgency of it. I looked back and saw that the pair I originally had were back, so I got them back. Both are in the 59$ section 3 part (in front, next to the violins. I would have prefered either the 83$ section 3 or section 1, but I guess I'll see Williams' face better from the side...
