  1. Ray? If you're interested in going to Tanglewood as well, the BSO's site now lists that a bus will be available round-trip from Boston to Lenox...
  2. I managed to speak to someone at the BSO who could tell me Williams will be there: May 12, 8pm, May 13, 2pm, May 16, 8pm. "Film Night Orchestral film music brings emotion and excitement to the big screen. On May 12, 13, and 16 the thrills come to Symphony Hall when the Orchestra performs selections from many popular movies, with the accompanying film clips. The visual element adds another level of excitement to familiar tunes from Star Wars and Raiders of the Lost Ark, and many more familiar favorites. The conductor will be announced in February (they have told me it will be JW)." I'm still thinking of going to Tanglewood though because I don't think the full SW suite will be played in Boston...
  3. I wish I could record this in HD on my D-VHS recorder, but unfortunately my local NBC station (WPTZ) will only be on in HD this fall.
  4. Only a few days until the Tanglewood tickets go on sale and still no release about the Spring schedule...
  5. I saw that Apollo 13 was available when I went. Courage Under Fire is hard to find. No stores carry it, and even Amazon is out of it. I wanted to get it for the great "trailer music" on the second track.
  6. Hey, KM. Thanks for the tip! I went and borrowed some for the first time on Wednesday, including Horner's hard to find soundtrack to "Courage Under Fire". BTW, I noticed that they also have some sheet music available, but they don't have the conductor's scores.
  7. That's what I want to know. If given the choice, I prefer Symphony Hall over Tanglewood, but if Williams isn't there in May, I want to be able to get my Tanglewood tickets the minute they go on sale.
  8. The BSO has just informed me that they will NOT be releasing the Spring schedule before the end of February. Are they just doing this to boost sales for their Tanglewood performances (going on sale on Feb. 12)?
  9. I wanted to buy the Memoirs of a Geisha CD on Tuesday, but am not sure if we'll be able to get it. Best Buy Canada's warehouse (which supplies all Best Buy and Future Shop stores) still has them on back-order (they are usually in the stores by Saturday). I wonder if it has anything to do with Sony's copy-protection screw-up... For WOTW, I will be buying the 2-disc set on Tuesday. To those who want to wait for a lower price, remember that it's a LIMITED EDITION!
  10. Williams ALWAYS conducts it in 3.
  11. I'm going to have to order this online from Amazon.com, since Fox has now unfortunately joined other studios in distributing only bilingual Canadian editions in Canada. The spine on the Canadian ROTS looks like $hit when placed next to PM, AOTC, ANH, ESB, and ROTJ.
  12. So far, I like it, but I just hate the percussion. It sounds too electronicky. I'm hoping there will be a concert version of this theme performed and recorded...
  13. I like it. I hope the orchestral version has the entire string section playing this. There are some similarities to Seven Years in Tibet. Is it really in 4 though? It just feels like Williams wouldn't be moving so fast conducting this...
  14. Who is going so far? I think we should meet at intermission in the row just behind the box seats. How about it?
  15. How long was the "montage"? Was it all the individual concert pieces from each or was it one arrangement with all of them put together?
  16. Yeah, why isn't "For Always" scheduled? They didn't play it two years ago either. I hope they'll do it as one of the (hopefully many) encores. As for the great "montage", I'm so happy they've included "Hook"!
  17. Hey, Disko, will you be in Boston on Saturday night? Can you record it for us? I'll be at Tanglewood but it would be nice to have a stereo recording of it...
  18. Could you please find out what the program is for Saturday? Also, if you get to talk to JW, please beg him to insert the Hook concert arrangement!!! 4 minutes out of a 3-hour concert is not much to ask, is it?
  19. Anyone here able to go to Tanglewood to pick up the program booklet? I want to know what to expect!
  20. Well, AI's theme was turned into a song "For Always" which was performed by Josh Groban. Hopefully they'll play it this time (they didn't two years ago). I'm also hoping for one piece from each Star Wars film, as well as the concert arrangement for "Hook". I just hope he puts "Raiders" aside time... I've heard it performed by him like 4 times. Oh, I think it would be nice if he would play "Superman" as an encore in memory of Christopher Reeves.
  21. I managed to get a shed ticket a few weeks ago on Ebay! There are still some tickets on ebay from other sellers, but sone are pretty expensive...
  22. Tonight is probably the only night that someone will be able to get a JW autograph. Williams will probably be too scared to come out on Aug 27 when all the crazy Groban fans will be in line.
  23. It's being repeated throughout the day on PBS-HD, if you are able receive your local PBS station's digital signal.
