Kendal_Ozzel got a reaction from Fabulin in John Williams and Implicit Lyrics
Yeah, Dick Donner talks about it on the commentary track for Superman: The Movie. It's been a while since I listened to it, but as I recall he talks about how he realized the theme was saying "SUP-ER-MAN!" the first time he heard it, and that he pointed it out, but (I think) Williams said he didn't do it intentionally.
I need to revisit that commentary track. It's really great.

Kendal_Ozzel got a reaction from crumbs in The John Williams Expanded Score Master Spreadsheet
I feel like I should do an analysis of Always out of pure sympathy.

Kendal_Ozzel reacted to Jay in Harry Potter - The John Williams Soundtrack Collection 7CD boxset from La-La Land Records (2018)
I was a Project Consultant on this release. It's my first real credit, and first paying gig in the field, actually. If anyone was wondering why I stopped posting as frequently this spring, this is why. Mike and I worked our butts off to make this set as good as it could possibly be.
And yes, one thing I did was proof-read the (many!) liner notes

Kendal_Ozzel got a reaction from Holko in Hans Zimmer's WONDER WOMAN 1984 (2020)
Meh. If they had to change it up, I wish they would've gone full 80s and gotten Giorgio Moroder.

Kendal_Ozzel got a reaction from Omen II in John Carpenter to release an album of imaginary movie themes
I got to see when he came through Austin back in June. It was such a cool show! And all the more amazing since it's the kind of thing I never would have even conceived of getting to see.
The band was a bit more rockin' than the mainly electronic sound on some of his scores—that Escape from New York video is a good example. I thought the Halloween theme in particular sounded incredible with the full band.
Here's a potato quality pic I took:

One CD with the complete score and a small hammer where the second CD should be.

Kendal_Ozzel reacted to Jay in Star Wars Scores - iTunes Confusion
Here are the original OSTs released at the same time as the film's release; These were arranged by Williams for listening experience and do not contain the complete scores, but rather the highlights as chosen by him and then re-arranged into a non-chronological order as per his usual MO.
SW: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/id1068345793
TESB: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/id1068345127
ROTJ: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/id1068346287
TPM: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/id1068345185
AOTC: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/id1068345124
ROTS:https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/id1069977430
They also released a collection including all 6 of the above titles, but it actually costs $14 more than just buying each of the above for $6 each, so avoid it!
https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/id1041511949
In 1997 Lucasfilm hired Mike Matessino to make 2CD sets for each of the original three scores to be in stores the same time as the SE versions of the original films were in theaters for the RCA Victor label. These are (basically) completely and (pretty much) in chronological order. Eventually RCA's license ran out and Sony re-issued them in 2004 with new covers but identical content. Here those are:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/id394309338
https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/id261749656
https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/id261749251
It's hilarious to me that Apple is selling those for $16.99-$18.99 each, because you can get them on CD for $8.39 each on Amazon!

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002YCVJC
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002YCVK6
So obviously I'd recommend doing that instead.
For the prequel scores, Sony expanded The Phantom Menace a year after the film's release, but it was a half-assed job; They simply took the final film audio of the final cut of the film, made a few tiny tweaks, and plopped that on CD. For some films this would be OK, but TPM's score was massively and extensively re-edited and tweaked around in post-production, with a ton of music getting dropped and/or replaced by music tracked in from other stuff. So the CD actually includes some passages twice because of this tracking. It's a mess, but the sound quality is really good if you want to check it out

Though much like the other expansions, you can get it on a real CD for much cheaper
