  1. Maybe, but you know, it only takes one ripping out of a heart scene to change that. Or an Ark melting scene (which was longer, darker and killed more people). No, they're not done at all (if you meant to say that they've finished). They're filming and will be keep filming for at least a couple of months (they started in July). Mirko - who loves Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (in all aspects: title, movie and score!)
  2. I don't like City of Gods. It's too "general" and pretty banal. This KOTCS title is indeed weird, but at least it's original. And the Oscar goes to "Harry Potter and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. I mean, Indiana Jones"
  3. Yes, it's official, but it's a "cold" website, a website that in the past haven't been updated for ages (I think the last changing before the total IndyIV restyling was to announce the DVDs, in 2003 ) and isn't updated enough even now. It looks almost exactly like a fansite that copies and past the news from others sites... And I didn't said "we can't trust", but "we can't totally trust".
  4. I'm not sure if we can totally trust that young actor or a cold website. Maybe it could be a commercial move to raise the hype (not that was necessary, though)...they could have fun looking on how the rest of the world is starting trying to imagine how could this movie look like and then in some months they came out with another title. I won't believe this is the really official title as long as I don't see Spielberg or Ford announce it (they can cheat us through "false" teasers and trailers, or just with working titles, you know...remember "Indiana Jones and the Doomed Temple"?). I don't mind the title being long. It's still a bit weird to me, but I don't really care about it, as it's the movie itself that counts, and as Indy4 said, don't judge a book by its cover...I rather have a great movie with a bad title that having a bad movie with a good title. But this movie won't disappoint the fans. If they waited so long, they must really have an explosive script. Mirko - noticing how many members with Indy-related nicknames are here lately.
  5. It's not a matter of ripping off other themes, but we should be used that it's a kind of "trademark" that many MV/RC scores have things in common to each other. But expecially when someone listen to cartoon movie scores, should care lesser about technical aspects than when listening to much "serious" scores. I think cartoon movie scores should be considered "lighter" or "easier", don't know if I explained what I wanted to say.
  6. That name would fit better as an Harry Potter movie. But it's still better than the other one with the word "Gods" in it. Weird title anyways. We'll see. If it's really leaked and it's really the final title of the movie (which I doubt...they often change the title while in the works) they should punish the guy, like paying him less than agreeded, or making Indy whip his character many times.
  7. Indy4, if you like Powell you may want to check out his other works, as he also scored several other cartoon movies. There are other collaboration with Harry Gregson-Williams too. I haven't yet listened to this score, but I always liked this duo's collaborations, they're very fun and enjoyable to listen. They're the few composers (along with Trevor Rabin, Mark Mancina and a few others) that I can listen among the infamous Media Ventures (Remote Control) roster.
  8. The Netherlands is (or are? ) one of those rare countries that have the "sport colour" which isn't featured on the flag. There's no orange in The Netherland's flag as well there's no blue on Italy's flag. This has nothing to do with national anthems, but I like the Dutch anthem as well. Mirko - watching those 11 blue dressed guys against those other 11 white guys.
  9. They are tho whole different worlds. Before him no one could even imagine to combine them as duets. I've never went to any Pavarotti & Friends or never been a fan of this weird experiments, but it's admirable that he, a so respectable and important tenor, made this risky choice. And he succeded.
  10. Modena ain't that small. It's our province and it has 180k inhabitants. Where do you live "quite near Modena"? You can reply to PM if you want. However, even if one wasn't fan of his, everyone must recognise, apart his talented voice, the fact that he combined so greatly two differents words like lirical and pop music. Before him, nobody could even imagine to do what he did.
  11. Yeah, that would be kick-ass! But I don't think Williams cares about Spain (or Italy or other Anthems). It's a shame, because he made various kind of works, and Anthems are classical music, so why not...
  12. It's not a japanese arrangement or with japanese lyrics, Manuel, it's just a classic version played by a japanese classic orchestra, called New Japan Philarmonic. I don't know how official this can be, but I heard several versions with lyrics. If you go to this Wikipedia link, you see two different versions of the "Marcha Real" lyrics, though I don't know how often they sing them, or even if they actually sing them. What I know is that it's a lot easier to listen or find an instrumental version of you wonderful anthem.
  13. Yes, the German Anthem was composed by Haydn.
  14. I must add the Brazilian one! It's catchy, I found myself whistling it after a couple of Massa's wins. The Spanish one is called "Marcha Real" and yes Manuel, it actually has lyrics. The German one is called "Deutschland Über Alles". Miguel, I don't know if you were talking about the New Japan Philarmonic when you cited the small japanes ensemble, but I heard some of their arrangement and they were very good. Too bad the quality isn't that great. Their version of the Spanish anthem is the best I found, because is fast, and sometimes this wonderful anthem is played a lot slower. It's a pity that this japanese version had vocals, because I prefer it to be instumental... Why good quality version of National Anthems are so hard to find? I wish I could find the Anthems I listed before (plus the Brazilian one) in high quality, both instrumental and sung. I actually have our Italian anthem, but it would be good to have all of them played by the same orchestra, so they sound all the same...
  15. Yes, the TV news yesterday evening (8 PM) said his condition worsened in late afternoon/early evening, and the TV news I watched this morning (7 AM) said he died at 5 AM. When his condition worsened yesterday, we all knew he was going to die very soon...he was already in real critical conditions. I understand how tragic can be this loss for a liric music fan. He had an amazing voice.
  16. Yep, he have been fighting a pancreas tumor for quite a long time. And a daughter of only 4 years... I'm sorry I didn't saw this thread before starting the other one.
  17. I voted for #3. Loving his music get me in the filmmusic world, making me discovering other composers (while remaining by absolute favourite). He may have changed the way I listen to music, but not changed my life in a concrete way. Like some said, if it wasn't for him, I'd probably have started liking filmmusic thanks to some other one, but I don't know if that person would have such a great impact on me like JW. After all, for at least 3 generations he scored those movies we loved when we were children and still loved over the years (Star Wars and Superman: The Movie for the "old" ones, the Indiana Jones trilogy for me and my generation, Harry Potter for the younger) so I can see how he and/or his music could have made a strong effect in many people's life. John Williams is the musician I have more CDs than any other in m CD collection (over 30 CDs, with the second having less than 20 CDs) so he may have changed the way I buy and collect CDs, but then again like Mark Olivarez said, if he wouldn't for him I may have collected someone else's CD or other stuff. So he didn't change my life but he was the one who got me in the filmmusic world, and if I love movie scores is because fo him! Oh well if you put it in this way, you're right as well. But there are so many boards in the world, and maybe if it wasn't for this board, you would have ended up in some other board. It never happened before to me to call friend or being called friend from someone who lives so far, and I'll probably never meet. It's a beautiful thing, 'cause it makes you feel like there were no distances between us, and we could almost meet each other like real friends, even if only through a computer screen. Damn, I can't express myself as I'd love to...I need to go in the U.S.A. more often!
  18. Hi...just want to test this thing with you!

    Steef for president! :D

  19. I use the term "old" because most of the times people here discuss of movies they see in theatres, and I thought that movies from 6 and 12 years ago were not as new as the more recent. But I think movies are always new if you never saw them.
  20. I still think that Indiana Jones is good. Hence, it should be made.
  21. O Brother, Where Art Thou? Unbreakable True Lies Three old movies I watched for the first time (even though I remember I already saw some scene of True Lies, so probably I watched part of it on TV many many years ago). The first one is pretty good, a strange movie but enjoyable. I noticed there was a guy named Tommy Johnson who sold his soul to the devil for playing guitar. Reminded me a bit of when Bart sold his soul to Milhouse. The second one is very weird, a really good movie with a simple yet detailed plot. The ending was the more (and possibly the only one) predictable, but a bit shoking too. Bruce Willis is more and more my favorite actor (I have 10 of his movies on DVD) and Sam Jackson is outstanding too (I have 7 of his movies on DVD, including 3 of the 4 movies that feature both actors). They make an amazing couple. The third one was good, with some hilarious moment (the whole horse-motorcycle ride just kicks ass) and some other normal moment. Next will probably be Bad Boys II (of course I have the DVD, but it will be on TV on Wed. so I could keep the channel on it and listen to it). And I still have to watch some of the last DVDs I bought. Next DVD could be Snakes on a Plane. Anyone knows if the Region 2 will be a 2 DVDs set? I wanna avoid buying it as a single disc as soon as I see it, and then seeing a double disc edition like 2 months later. Happened once with Pulp Fiction (bought the single edition, the only available at the time) for 7.90 € and then 3 months later I found the 2 disc edition for 9.90 €. Lame. I also tend to wait for a DVD price to decrease a bit. New DVDs here costs 16 to 20 € (I did an exceptions buying the newly released Final Destination 3 - 12.90€ for 2 DVDs) I buy them some months later for 9.90 € and I got most of my old movies DVDs (like the 3 Beverly Hills Cop) for 7.90 €. And now it's dinner time. Period.
  22. Donovan in his last seconds of life (when his ears where in pain due to Elsa's yell) was definitely sexier.
  23. I was born between E.T. and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Guess what, it's 1983. But while I was comin' out from my mom, since it was 1:30 PM, if JW was in the U.S. he was probably sleeping (4:30 AM in California) or having breakfast (7:30 AM in New York).
