Wolf's Rain gets really good in the second half.  Extremely sad though.

Hope she recovers quickly.  In the interim, here're some TV series she can digest while convalescing that might be of interest based on the genre and tone you're looking for:

    Ergo Proxy
    Kara no Kyokai
Death Note (not the Netflix movie)
    Steins; Gate
    Erased
    Serial Experiments Lain
    Attack on Titan

And possibly these, but the tone can vary.
    Code Geass
Full Metal Panic! (borderline, it has some teen romcom stuff that can get annoying if she hates that genre)
    Future Diary

Those Chewie socks can be a good conversation starter in a business meeting.  It's also a bad deal closer in that same meeting.

Looked him up after hearing Williams mention him in an interview.  Most of what I heard is not my cup of tea, but this is kind of a hypnotic piece.

Some of the vocal backlash sprouting up now seems disproportionately loud compared to what I perceive to be love, or at the very least joy, for TFA by most of the fans.  I don't quite get it.  Perhaps they're upset Jurassic World fanatics.  It seems de rigueur recently to hate on Abrams, and I'm not someone who feels particularly driven to come to his defense.

I actually loved it, one of my favorite Allen films, truly a brilliant piece of filmmaking and writing.  I just don't watch as many movies as I used to, so I'm not actively avoiding him.  I did want to see Blue Jasmine and Midnight in Paris, just never got around to it.

Loved Brick.  Really liked Looper, but didn't care for the ending.  Johnson is a skilled director, can't wait to see what he does with Star Wars.

My list is probably boring, but...

Williams - far above and beyond anyone else on the list.  I would put him on my list of favorite composers in general.
    Horner
    Goldsmith
Elfman (although nothing much recently tickles my fancy, except for Rabbit & Rogue)
    Goldenthal

I'm trying to make a concerted effect in getting to know more Korngold (more familiar with his concert works), Rozsa, Steiner, Tiomkin, Herrmann, North, etc

Nothing too glaring, but there are a couple of scenes that don't work so well, and where did it get that dress, it's awful, and those shoes and that coat....

Got back from a theater screening and, man, that music is hits you.  The movie itself wasn't one I grew up watching a lot (in fact, I have no memory of watching it as a child), but it still works, despite its flaws.  It's kind of a perfect imperfect film that wears its heart on its sleeve and shows you how and why it became a classic.

Just became aware of this, but it seems the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia is premiering a new Goldenthal piece in a couple of weeks:  Concerto for Trumpet and Strings.  Composer will be in attendance and have a Q&A session on the Sunday matinée opening date.

Not sure about that, I feel he composes too much too quickly, and always has.  The scores that stick out are great, but he had a pretty solid period from the late 90s to the mid 2000s.  By numbers, the uninteresting seem to outweigh the interesting.  Thankfully there are enough gems to latch onto.

The only one of those three that excite me is Far & Away, which is one of Williams' best of the 90s.
