Hello! Lately, it has become very difficult for a large number of JWFanners who enjoy watching this show, and want to discuss it each week, to do so in the existing show thread. This is largely due to a steady stream of negative opinions being posted in that thread, often the same criticisms over and over again. This has led to some JWFanners feeling like they cannot even post their thoughts at all, as they will only see them picked apart and made to feel like they have to defend their opinions. To combat this problem, I am creating this appreciation thread, where those of us who like the show, and want to discuss it freely without the haters ruining the flow of conversation, can do so. This does not mean that only extremely positive commentary is allowed here; I want people to free to share what they like and don't like about individual episodes. But you should be overall getting enjoyment out of the show to post in this thread; if you are hate-watching this show, and want to spend effort posting all the ways it disappoints you, you can still do so in the existing thread (as long as the forum's rules are adhered to). Any posts that go against the spirit of this thread will be delt with swiftly! Nobody is being censored here, the original thread exists for you to share your hate! Those of us who like the show, have at it!

OK so I have a question. Does anybody else feel like Shore's main title theme, as great of a piece of music as it is in its own right, doesn't really fit the tone of the show at all? I watched the season 2 premiere, and it had nothing but Bear McCreary score the entire time, and everything was good. Then episode 2 comes along and bam. Things stop for this weird main title sequence (that I don't even really like visually), that uses completely different music than the episodes themselves do. And now that it seems like Bear still won't be working this theme into his underscore, and we know Bear and Shore worked on their stuff independently from each other and all that.... I was wondering. Is anybody here interesting in mocking up some alternate main title videos, using the same footage as the show, but with the music replaced by Bear McCreary music from the albums we have? I was thinking that now that we have the Overture and stuff from the episode 1 and 3 album bonus tracks, maybe something could be cut that works as a great alternate opening title sequence? Who's up to the task?

Please correct any errors we make! @MonoverantusPlease post your transcriptions here too so we have a single place to go! A quick transcription of Shore's theme. Does anyone see any mistakes or would notate anything differently? I'm pretty unsure about the 2/4 time signature right now, but it looks and feels better than 4/4!

Warner Bros. Television and the estate of J.R.R. Tolkien are in talks with Amazon Studios to develop a series based on the late author’s “The Lord of the Rings” novels. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos is said by sources with knowledge of the situation to be personally involved in the negotiations, which are still in very early stages. No deal has been set.

Howard Shore's theme is on youtube, probably illegally, so save it before it takes taken down But it's the first 1 1/2 minutes of this video, currently:
