  1. If MM gets to produce remastered and expanded soundtrack albums of all Indy films, what would he have to improve on the earlier releases in order to end up with the definitive presentations?
  2. What Mike Matessino release is considered the best listening experience? I saw lots of praise in the Jurassic Park Collection thread about its sound quality -- is that the best? It certainly sounds amazing. I know Mike's liner notes are considered amazing also but I wanted to focus on listening experience.
  3. If you got the chance to talk with Mike, what would you ask him? Who knows, if he gets really bored during the pandemic, perhaps he could be convinced to come over here and answer a few of the questions, like MV does over at that site which looks like it's from the 90s.
  4. I mean, with both Redman and Matessino credited as producers, how could the scores end up sounding increasingly pinched?
  5. Folks, Jim Bowers who runs the Caped Wonder.com website on the history of the Christopher Reeve Superman Films has just done a podcast with Jay Towers on the release of Superman: The Movie 40th Anniversary Remastered 3CD set. Jim Bowers is also a project consultant on this new set and was also involved in the 2008 FSM Set. Check it out for some unique insight (specifically on the new Fortress of Solitude cue as well as another unreleased snippet on this set) As well as an interesting tease on more Williams upcoming remastered expanded albums. 6. This is the thread to share all the interesting information that Mike Matessino revealed when some of you guys met him in London as a warm-up to the concert on Friday. According to Jay, everything Mike said is considered public info and may be shared here. To start, here's my list of questions which @crocodile was kind enough to answer:
  7. Though this work is obviously indebted to Benny Goodman's 1941 work, "Sing, Sing, Sing", notice that JW's "Swing, Swing, Swing" is actually original. Some might see this as JW impersonation of music he grew up with but this is what really makes him brilliant. His music is completely original and completely authentic to the style he was mimicking. I think this is an excellent example of his stylistic flexibility. Which one is better? Which is more authentically Benny Goodman swing of that period? I think I might actually prefer JW's score.
  8. Tim Burden, famous radio and film music host has interviewed Mike Matessino in London, England. The first excerpt of this interview laced with John Williams music. Film Music Historian and Soundtrack Producer Mike Matessino speaks with me about the recent La La Land Records 35th Anniversary release of John Williams' E.T. The Extra Terrestrial. Discovering an exciting alternate take of a key scene and cue is one item discussed. The full-length interview is coming soon . P.S. A clip about the equally brilliant CE3K will be posted this weekend.-Tim Burden on Facebook.
