  1. John Williams is not the only legendary film composer born in February 1932 who will be visiting London later this year to conduct his film music in concert! Michel Legrand and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra He is due to conduct the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall on 18th September 2018. Formidable!
  2. The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and choir will be giving a concert of Star Wars music from all seven films on 29th October 2017 at the Royal Albert Hall. Stephen Bell conducts and there will be two performances. Symphonic Star Wars Aie! Mon pauvre portefeuille. I wonder if I can hide in the bowels of the hall after Jaws In Concert, emerging only to watch film music concerts and feast on the flesh of RAH patrons who have become separated from the rest of their group? It's either that or a bullion heist.
  3. The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will be performing a special concert devoted to Elmer Bernstein's film music on Sunday 18th June 2017 at the Royal Albert Hall in London. The concert will be conducted by Elmer's son Peter Bernstein, while director John Landis will also be putting in an appearance at the London premiere. http://www.royalalberthall.com/tickets/events/2017/elmer-bernstein-50-years-of-film-music/ Tickets are available from tomorrow, but for now here is a link to a press release in the Daily Express. Elmer worked with the RPO quite a bit and I was lucky enough to see him conduct them in concert a couple of times back in the day. This has the makings of a very special event. World concert premieres are promised - I see there is mention of Music from the Comedies, so maybe Airplane!, Animal House, Trading Places and others will feature? Time to dust off the score for Robot Monster, methinks.
