  1. Hello all, Perhaps some of you are aware of this, but we wanted to formally post this concert's information: http://life.royalalberthall.com/2013/07/ridley-scotts-gladiator-to-be-presented-live-at-the-royal-albert-hall/ This one is quite a production with a 90 piece orchestra, 80 piece choir, duduk/zurna solos, and with great excitement we will be joined by Lisa Gerrard singing the vocal solos. Hope to see some of you there! http://gladiatorlive.com/
  2. An Evening with John Williams in Concert London Symphony Orchestra Conductor: John Williams Friday 26 October, Auditorium 7:30pm £21-£90 Source
  3. Muppets! Something to look forward to at Christmas next year "when all this is over". The Muppet Christmas Carol in concert
  4. Hello fellow John Williams and Star Wars fans alike! Was wondering if anyone would be in possession of (and if so, willing to sell) the following programme from John Williams’ live concert performance at the Royal Albert Hall in 1978? Thank you in advance! May The Force Be With You!
  5. Hey everyone! To those lucky enough to secure tickets for John Williams' concert at the Royal Albert Hall: hats off to you. For those, like me, who queued but were disappointed when the tickets were sold out - I have an idea. Would it be unreasonable to ask 11 other fans to invest in a box at the Albert Hall so we can all go to see the concert? The price of the box to rent is extortionate, but I feel that if we pool our resources we could get affordable seats? Tix would be £279 each? Who's with me? I'm upset that I couldn't get a ticket to this once in a lifetime (I live in the UK...), but this feels like my only hope! Help me JWFans - you're my only hope? Tom
  6. The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and choir will be giving a concert of Star Wars music from all seven films on 29th October 2017 at the Royal Albert Hall. Stephen Bell conducts and there will be two performances. Symphonic Star Wars Aie! Mon pauvre portefeuille. I wonder if I can hide in the bowels of the hall after Jaws In Concert, emerging only to watch film music concerts and feast on the flesh of RAH patrons who have become separated from the rest of their group? It's either that or a bullion heist.
  7. The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will again be paying tribute to John Williams in two concerts at the Royal Albert Hall in October 2016. The ones in 2012 and 2014 at the same venue were great fun (even allowing for the sacrilegious arrangement of Jaws) and played to a sold out hall. http://www.rpo.co.uk/whats-on/eventdetail/546/-/john-williams-2016 Robert Ziegler conducts while Tommy Pearson presents and reads out people's drunken tweets from the interval.
  8. Hey, you! It's me with my annual topic about the BBC Proms, the 2015 season of which was announced last Thursday. http://www.bbc.co.uk/proms There are slim pickings this year for pure film music fans, aside from a concert devoted to Murray Gold's music for the TV documentary series Life Story and another Prom based around music connected to Sherlock Holmes. Never let it be said that the BBC will pass up an opportunity to plug one of its flagship programmes by devising a concert based around it, however tenuous the link! Proms regulars the John Wilson Orchestra also return with a couple of concerts devoted to Frank Sinatra and the musicals of Leonard Bernstein, so some film connections there. Does anyone have any particular recommendations from the listings? I am told that Franz Schmidt's second symphony is worth hearing (Hitler's favourite composer and performed by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, no less) while there is quite a lot of music by Sibelius and Nielsen to celebrate their 150th anniversaries. Eric Whitacre has a Prom featuring some of his most popular works and there is also the Organ Concerto by Icelandic composer Jon Leifs, whose music was one of the big discoveries for many people last year. 9. The 2014 season of the BBC Proms was announced today. Details of the concerts are here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/proms There is arguably less for film music fans to get excited about than in some previous years, although John Williams's Summon the Heroes will be played in one of the early concerts devoted to sport. The excellent John Wilson Orchestra also returns with a concert performance of Cole Porter's Kiss Me Kate. I wish the organisers would be a little more adventurous when considering film music selections. Yet again William Walton's Henry V will be played (by the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, no less) and damn fine score though it is, it seems compulsory for either that or the main title from Star Wars to be included as a concession to film music fans. Film music aside, there are plenty of other great concerts to look forward to, so browse away.
  10. The London Symphony Orchestra will be playing music from films in which Michael Caine has starred at the Royal Albert Hall on 1st October 2014. http://www.lso.co.uk/3090/A-Night-Out-With...Sir-Michael-Caine/1081 As well as a chat with the actor himself, guest vocalists such as Joss Stone and Lance Ellington will be singing. Tickets go on sale on Tuesday and it will be interesting to see how expensive they are.
  11. http://www.lastfm.se...MONIC+ORCHESTRA Does any of you know if this is like a tribute-thing or will Hans and John actually be there? I was extremely surprised and happy when I saw this today, and even if it's just a tribute I'm sure it'll be amazing.
