  1. I couldn't include Poe's Theme as it didn't have a proper concert version Didn t include Rey's Theme for this poll because it might get too many votes and screw up my poll for me #1 is Galaxy's Edge followed by Rebellion is Reborn
  2. The Rise of Skywalker score might not be eligible for the Best Original Score Oscar as the Academy is going to keep the November 15th submission deadline they used last year. http://filmmusicreporter.com/2019/04/24/academy-confirms-return-of-short-lists-in-music-categories/ So, like, December releases will only be eligible if they're willing to give the Academy an FYC by 11/15? That's stupid.
  3. Discuss the MUSIC ONLY here in this thread; Discuss the trailer itself over here please!
  4. I don't agree with all of this guy's analysis, but he does make some good points, especially regarding the overuse of the Force Theme. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gB4lULC87Oo
  5. Hello all. I've decided starting to upload some of my own piano arrangements on YouTube since I thought I'd be a shame if they are only watched and used at my place by just myself. 😉 For now and the near future it's just about John Williams but I will add some pieces by other composers, too. I'm focussing on "hidden treasures" more delicate pieces that are actually suitable to adapt just by piano. Also, it's not about score reductions, so naturally, some parts of the orchestral score are not included. I just went online a few minutes ago and I'm glad to present you my first three videos. Btw I have no experience with video editing or YouTube at all. And I'm also curious if I'll encounter any copyright issues... 😛 But for now, enjoy!
  6. Mike Matessino updates us on John's social life, also Episode IX: Does June seem a little late for John to start writing this score, considering the timelines for the last two sequels, the December release, and the score's likely runtime? Maybe this is his way of reducing the plethora of rewrites TFA undertook, waiting until the film is properly assembled (sans VFX) rather than writing reel by reel.
  7. Seeing as production on Episode IX should be wrapping up in the next month or so, John will likely start working on this score in the near future. Seems like a good time to start some very early Episode IX predictions! I've avoided any questions about specific new musical themes in the score, considering we know next to nothing about the film's storyline or the new characters.
  8. Hello, Some time ago I made that score reductions and analysis of Yoda's Theme and The Throne Room like other scores are analyzed on FilmScoreAnalysis channel. I think that's very interesting to look and analyze some masterworks by John Williams and other composers. (New version): I'm also working on analysis of Across The Stars and I will upload it at the end of the month. If you have any ideas what to do to make my analysis better, please, tell me. 🙂 Edit: Here's Across The Stars analysis Edit 2: Here's Anakin's Theme: Edit 3: Han Solo And The Princess https://youtu.be/8lbR7n1DcKE Edit 4: The Emperor's Arrival https://youtu.be/HJXs0HP35p8 Edit 5: Leia Breaks The News Edit 6: Another Happy Landing: Edit 7: Star Of Bethlehem The Death Star Theme from Schindler's List: Ps. And if you have any ideas what score should I analyze next also please, tell me.
  9. Hello. I’ve uploaded my first public suite and I would like to know what you guys think of it. What I created is The Prequel Trilogy End Credits (Suite) and it functions as a compilation of the end credits music from TPM, AOTC, and ROTS in order to make a seamless transition between them. https://youtu.be/O2KFxD-JCTQ The arrangements I did were: -Augie’s Great Municipal Band -Default Prequel Trilogy End Credits music -Duel of the Fates -Anakin’s Theme -Across The Stars -Revenge of the Sith End Credits Medley
  10. Uh...what the heck?!? Just saw this on the Entertainment Weekly site!! https://ew.com/movies/2018/11/17/john-williams-new-music-disney-star-wars-theme-parks/
  11. On the latest episode of UnderScore, we sat down with Alan Snelling, assistant engineer to Eric Tomlinson on Star Wars (as well as Raiders, Superman and the rest of the original trilogy), who shared some wonderful recollections of the historic first recording of the Main Title. The remainder of the episode is a near hour-long musical exploration into the composition, orchestration and storytelling power of that infamous minute and a half of music. Enjoy! [This is the second episode in a six-part series on the score]
  12. Hi to all JWFN members. It is great to see such dedication and knowledge to the man who has scored more than just the movies. On that note The History Press and I would like to share word of a new book published now in the UK and September 1st 2018 in the US. John Williams is the spine and soul of this book. Mark O’Connell didn’t want to be Luke Skywalker. He wanted to be one of the mop-haired kids on the Star Wars toy commercials. And he would have done it had his parents had better pine furniture and a condo in California. Star Wars, Jaws, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, E.T. The Extra Terrestrial, Raiders of the Lost Ark and Superman didn’t just change cinema – they made lasting highways into our childhoods, toy boxes and video stores like never before. In Watching Skies, O’Connell pilots a gilded X-Wing flight through that shared universe of bedroom remakes of Return of the Jedi, close encounters with Christopher Reeve, sticker album swaps, the trauma of losing an entire Star Wars figure collection and honeymooning on Amity Island. From the author of Catching Bullets – Memoirs of a Bond Fan, Watching Skies is a timely hologram from all our memory systems. It is about how George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, a shark, two motherships, some gremlins, ghostbusters and a man of steel jumped a whole generation to hyperspace*. *Action figures sold separately. From examining his contributions to these key films, the soundtracks to broken homes and the VHS revolution to seeing the musical DNA from JANE EYRE all the way through to ATTACK OF THE CLONES, WATCHING SKIES is as much about John Williams as it is Spielberg, Lucas and Donner. It is about how 'Leaving Home' was exactly the cue going through the author's life and mind when he did just that, how the 'Love Theme from Superman' had to be played at a Pinewood Studios wedding, how 'ET and Me' scored a divorce and how a honeymoon on Amity Island couldn't help but hear those JAWS 2 harps at every street corner and beach rock. Were it not for the work of Williams, this book and these movies would not exist with the same legacy they have today. WATCHING SKIES - STAR WARS, SPIELBERG AND US is available now. WATCHING SKIES on Facebook WATCHING SKIES on Twitter For more about WATCHING SKIES and author Mark O'Connell
  13. Yep, apparently maybe they might be doing it but not officially yet so sorta who knows. Viva la Lando!
  14. I try What @Jay asked me to do, to be more specific in our threads titles... we'll see how time it will hold. So the lastest press news, says the 6 CD will feature the "reconstructed" programs of the 6 OST (in the case of the OT, we obviously speak about the LP programs). Yes, we calculated it, the 2-LP programs can now fit on a single modern CD. So that's it... now, we have to wait for new relevant information that will be given by secured sources (Disney, etc.) and some our friends who have contacts...
  15. Personnaly, I've taken the decision not to buy the BD of TLJ now, and I will not buy the BD of Episode IX neither. I will instead wait for a boxset reuniting the 3 movies from the new trilogy... Hoping they will fix these three things in it: - Chewie not hugging Leia when he come back to the Resistance base (TFA) - The "Thing" that looks like Yoda (TLJ) - Put the scene where Chewie try to eat a Porg in the Deleted Scenes where it belongs (TLJ).
  16. Admin note: The first 2 1/2 pages of this thread were originally posted here. Like these ones?

  18. Solo is being recorded in London right now so Williams theme for Han is already done. I guess that makes sense since it comes out in May. I'm actually excited to hear Williams' theme and Powell's score.
