  1. That's about 6 hours, 20 minutes from now. If I'm not around when the stream starts, someone reply with the link/embed and report on what music you hear!
  2. So, there is a new Disney SW ride. Looks fun. There's also a lot of music in the experience, unlike the rest of Galaxy Edge. Discuss.
  3. I most enjoy what JW did to The Emperor's Theme and The Imperial March on the TROS FYC. I am hopefully he found a spot to put in a reference to Duel of the Fates somewhere, but I'm less hopeful now than I was before the FYC for some reason. I think it's pretty likely he'll bring back Rose's Theme for some scene with her, but I'm not entirely sure about that either. If he hadn't turned it into half a concert arrangement, I'd think it's less likely. I have no idea if he'll use Cloud City stuff for Lando or not.
  4. If The Complete Star Wars Prequels Boxset (done by MM, of course) was released at the end of this year, and you're allowed to get either this or the OST album of The Rise of Skywalker, which would you get? Over seven hours of well-known music in pristine condition on official releases, or just slightly over 70 minutes of brand-new, never-before-heard music. Easy enough question. But dear God, I couldn't decide for the life of me. 😂
  5. https://youtu.be/9E4yxmserwg This feels totally different to the stock before, sounds like we have a look at an action cue? Could be wrong!
  6. With less than 40 days until the unveiling of John's final ever Star Wars score, and with all trailers for the film now released, this is now our final chance to predict the contents of a brand new John Williams Star Wars score, period. I'll avoid questions already discussed in previous polls and instead focus on some oddly specific topics based on the footage released, Don Williams' interview, and anything else we officially know about the plot (so no references to leaked spoilers because I have avoided them; please be mindful of not posting spoilers if you have read them).
  7. OK, back from the film and some general comments on the music: First of all, I was a BIT disappointed by the score. The keyword here, I think, is "whimsical". There's a LOT of rhytmic and energetic stuff with all the usual Williams trademarks, but if you want thematic setpieces like a "The Asteroid Field" or "The Forest Battle" or whatever, you won't find it. In fact, the most striking theme was the "rebel" theme (also in the way it appeared in the film). In that case, it has a lot in common with INDY 4. Rey's theme had some nice renditions -- especially of the more pastoral
  8. For anyone not aware, there was a lot of conjecture surrounding unused TFA music featured in one of the film's making-of documentaries. The music above is an example of such music, which several posters attributed as a possible Jedi Steps alternate. I decided to test how the music would play over that scene and where it might fit. This was the best result I could create but it's pure guesswork, so just use the video as a reference for the music itself. What's interesting for me (and someone with a stronger musical knowledge might be able to confirm my theo
  9. That was fast! Digital piano arrangements (normal and easy-piano) are available through sheetmusicdirect. They've listed the following pieces: Main Title and Escape Ahch-To Island The Supremacy Fun With Finn and Rose Old Friends The Rebellion is Reborn Canto Bight The Sacred Jedi Texts The Battle of Crait The Spark The Last Jedi Peace and Purpose Music Notes has only listed "Main Title and Escape" and "The Last Jedi" at this stage. I think I'll wait till it's published as a book and buy it.
  10. Thought this was a fun interview which revealed a few interesting nuggets we didn't previously know. I think the Hook signing was already revealed by Rian, but one can infer from Nathan's comments here that he actually lost this gig to Williams. Another interesting layer to that mysterious period between TFA and TLJ where JW's ongoing involvement was unclear. It seems Nathan actually got to attend the recording sessions though, so don't feel too upset for him. A dream come true for any aspiring composer. A nice gesture from Rian who surely arranged that as an apology for not getti
  11. Now that we had time to watch/listen to TLJ many times.... What's your opinion now? Both are very good, but I'd say TFA for score (Rey's Theme!), and TLJ for movie.
  12. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WsAaRwkNgk8 I literally just woke up, so if this is from one of the other films, blame my tiredness for not recognizing it. That said - thoughts?
  13. So, I've seen the film twice by now. Seen other reviews for context. Went with people who aren't informed in film criticism, saw what they thought. Now, I'll try to give it as professional a review as I can muster, without spoilers and in under 2,000 words. Long story short: I like the movie and I think its quite good, but nothing beyond that, really. It has too many issues with pacing, the implementation of humor and the use of some of its characters to be "great" in any real way. Now, short story long: Cinematography The visuals are very striking. I gave JJ Abram
  14. Saw this posted on the Jedi Council Boards https://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/times2/john-williams-the-best-film-composer-in-the-galaxy-l7jx0f8gq (the article is behind a paywall apparently)
  15. My guess, The Fathiers was temptracked with TOD music, probably the Nightclub Fight. The second part of The Fathiers sounds extremely TOD.
  16. Anyone want to weigh in on this "leak" from the ST to Rise of Skywalker? I can't hear the Rey theme as claimed, but kinda hear Kylo's theme (sorta)... and it does sound like it is about to go into the force theme at the abrupt ending.... https://www.reddit.com/user/some_famous_director/comments/czm4m0/tros_the_prodigal_son/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app More opinions on the validity here... https://www.reddit.com/r/starwarsspeculation/comments/czm5um/the_rise_of_skywalker_the_prodigal_son_way_better/
  17. Discuss the MUSIC ONLY here in this thread; Discuss the trailer itself over here please!
  18. Did Williams write the music for this Funko pops commercial? https://v.redd.it/4p54lvg1ubp31
  19. I like Rose’s Theme. But there are several oddities about it: It (or something damned close) was composed and recorded for TFA. It appears to be a major-key variant of the Force Theme. I know it’s controversial, but IMO the TLJ concert suite makes for a very satisfactory piece. It marries Rose’s Theme to the Luke in Exile Theme. These are two characters who have nothing to do with each other in the film. And it’s named “The Rebellion is Reborn,” which has nothing to do with either Rose or with Luke’s exile, however, Luke is the one who utters those words whic
