  1. Hi all! We are very excited to present a composition project that has been a long time in the making. We have created the Potter Scoring Project, where we constructed a score for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in the style of John Williams, imagining the musical continuity that could exist if the thematic material from 1-3 connected the following movies. This started with the idea of using the Voldemort motifs in the graveyard scene for his return, and we have utilized the other existing themes throughout (the first cue uses a fusion of one of the Voldemort themes with Hedwig
  2. http://www.mugglenet.com/app/news/show/7209 Looks like it. This is out of the blue. I can't help but feel that I'm being trolled somehow. No idea how it will work but... interesting.
  3. Found this on instagram, looks like Across the Stars was arranged for her. This is especially interesting since the Yo-Yo Schindler's list one was more of a transcription probably.
  4. In fact, quite a few fragments of the film have already been restored on the forum (@crumbs , @Skelly). But I was interested in trying to do it myself, and already with the whole score. The main "feature" of this score is that quite a lot of the music in the film has been heavily edited. Basically, it concerns action scenes (Quidditch, The Whomping Willow, Werewolf Scene). So there is not much point in "restoring" the score, a lot of black screens had to be inserted, but nevertheless, it's interesting to see what the composer originally intended, as well as to suppose what the roug
  5. http://filmmusicreporter.com/2016/09/22/watertower-music-to-release-fantastic-beasts-and-where-to-find-them-soundtrack/ Score released November 4th by Watertower. Apparently we're getting a Vinyl edition too. They must be excited by the score if they're putting money into a Vinyl release.
  6. We, the Three Azkabaneers (@Chewy, @crumbs, @Holko) decided to take the matter into our own hands and deliver the Ultimate of the Spreadsheets, utilising the available cue list (posted by @gamelanwhisper) and music editor's assembly list (found by @Once) to their full advantage, with additional help from @bollemanneke and @Datameister regarding the contents of unreleased "limbo" alternates only found in the sheet music leaks. Here it is: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1drD6d4RfNRVIkEMVPyNRqgVJPGWYKVfzDEQS_ur-E2A/
  7. Well it is finally done and I am glad that I can present this in the honor of our Maestro John Williams' 80th anniversary. As always input, critique and comments are more than welcome in every regard. I hope you enjoy this rather lengthy analysis. EDIT: The analysis has been updated on 17th of December 2018 after La-La Land Records' Harry Potter: John Williams Soundtrack Collection was released after 27th of November 2018. 8. Hi there! I have a few questions about this piece. It appears at the end of the first HP movie. It's my favourite from the series and I always hoped for a Hal Leonard "Signature Edition" release. I can't seem to find it - is the official orchestration available for purchase? I know the tune gets quoted briefly in the 'Family Portrait' in the Children's Suite but I would really like a more thorough version to study. Does the tune appear anywhere else in the signature editions under a different name? Finally, I thought I saw a YouTube video analysing a det
  9. Just saw a press release for this new nighttime show at Universal Orlando. It claims the score is a "new arrangement" by John Williams. Sounds mostly like a needle-drop of "Hedwig," "Buckbeak," and maybe parts of "Prologue," but there's a section around 2:20 or so that I don't recognize. I highly doubt it's new, but can anyone place this? Here's the aforementioned press release: http://www.upi.com/Entertainment_News/2017/05/19/Nighttime-Lights-at-Hogwarts-Castle-to-open-at-Universal-Studios-Hollywood-June-23/2561495194542/
  10. Hello, JWFan! I made an account here some time ago, though I never really got around to actually posting... But despite my earlier lack of loquaciousness, I now turn to you in need of your unparalleled John Williams wisdom! Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets had quite a bit of tracked music - i.e., music lifted directly from the recording sessions for Philosopher's Stone in place of having original material. I'm trying to make edits that match the tracked cues as closely as possible, but there are a few parts that have me stumped, and I'm hoping you guys can help me out in ide
