  1. Alright, I figure this guy needs his own thread. The one thread that is all about JNH and his music. We need a place that is centralized and not scattered throughout several threads. Case-in-point, the "What's the best JNH theme" thread is already starting to morph into something else, and I'm afraid we're going to lose a lot of great debate and study. This way, we can go off on a tangent, and everything is still in one place. So, hopefully we, as fans, can gather here and talk about his scores, in detailed analysis, and discuss upcoming pojects and their potential (like Lady in the Water, to name one) and whatever else floats your boat! Have Fun! Tim
  2. JNH is apparently releasing an album featuring his music from Shyamalan movies. He posted this on his Facebook: And this was his lastest release on Spotify:
  3. James is scoring a minisseries for Netflix that'll come out later this year or early next year: http://filmmusicreporter.com/2022/03/08/james-newton-howard-to-score-netflixs-all-the-light-we-cannot-see/ Between this and Willow, he has been doing a lot of TV lately.
  4. https://www.instagram.com/p/CgIMutcOfK3/?igshid=MDJmNzVkMjY= Newton Howard returning for The Ballad Of Songbirds & Snakes. The prequel to The Hunger Games. Great!
  5. http://filmmusicreporter.com/2016/09/22/watertower-music-to-release-fantastic-beasts-and-where-to-find-them-soundtrack/ Score released November 4th by Watertower. Apparently we're getting a Vinyl edition too. They must be excited by the score if they're putting money into a Vinyl release.
  6. Which one do you prefer? Both are different enough, but their names make for a good poll. (This one is dedicated to @Jurassic Shark I think part 1 is the second best cue from the score (first one being the Main Titles) But I also think Part 2 really finishes the score and movie perfectly. Putting everything to ease. I always kinda compared it to the beauty of the Jaws end titles. It really wraps the score up.
  7. Nice full trailer. I wonder if the early bits contain some of James Newton Howard’s score (before it becomes standard inspirational trailer house music). In any case really looking forward to music.
  8. Well I wanted to find the Wyatt Earp thread to include some art I found online only to find there wasn't a thread, so here it is! http://www.lalalandrecords.com/WyattEarp.html http://www.screenarchives.com/title_detail.cfm/ID/25752/ http://www.moviemusic.com/soundtrack/M09023/wyatt-earp/ http://store.intrada.com/s.nl/it.A/id.8280/.f Anyways, what I wanted to point out was that you can get a high res version of the cover WITHOUT the WB banner - as well as glimpse some sample pages from the booklet - at Warm Butter's site http://warmbutter.com/cds/wyattearp.php
  9. JNH's Winter's War score is up online. Not really interested in the film, but of course very much so in the score. I'm about 5 pieces in so far and it's lovely. I've even got the main theme stuck in my head already. Here's the main theme in its nicest (so far) rendition at 1:30 - 2:20 in Woodwind and 2:32 onwards in strings.
  10. Looks like it'll be JNH this year at the Hollywood in Vienna Concerts and Awards. http://hollywoodinvienna.com/en/programme/hollywood-in-vienna-2015

  12. Greetings friends! Just wanted to share an extended interview (really more of a chat) I did with one of my favorite composers, James Newton Howard. It's the first interview I've ever done, not to mention, it's with one of my heroes, so I'm pretty jittery, repetitive and, in every way, shape, and form, NOT the most interesting aspect of this 26 minutes. But alas, as expected, he manages to shine through that and the very standard line of questions I throw at him (this was actually conducted for another project I was doing, hence the generalized questions) and give a very intriguing, illuminating interview! One thing: I have to apologize in advance for the sound quality. I've found that cranking up the volume and donning a pair of headphones mostly does the trick, but the software I was using had some trouble and I had to record the whole thing instead with speaker phone and an Olympus LS-100. Not ideal. For anyone particular interested in "Maleficent", he mentions it a few times and notes that it's probably his favorite of his own scores, but the main discussion of it happens around 22:09. It's very apparent that this is the first time since the completion of the score that he's gotten the chance to talk about it. I hope you guys can glean something of interest from this! http://www.moviemusicmania.com/7/post/2014/05/composer-interview-james-newton-howard1.html
