  1. I know this will be of interest to many here. Tiomkin's music is rightly considered to be some of the finest written for film and a huge gala concert, with surrounding events, has been arranged by Dimi's widow, Olivia Tiomkin-Douglas next month at The Barbican with the London Symphony Orchestra & Chorus, conducted by Richard Kaufman. Featuring two World Premieres and some other surprises that have yet to be announced. Those familiar with Gerhardt's Lost Horizon: Classic Film Score album will already know some of the pieces being performed and this beautifully orchestrated music sounds really incredible in the concert hall. Here's more information with links and at the bottom of the page you can listen to my interview with Kaufman about the concert and working with the LSO: http://www.dimitritiomkin.com/2582/october-2011-lso-celebrates-tiomkin/ For subscribers of FSM Online, there'll be an opportunity to win tickets to the concert, after-show party and a copy of the new Guns of Navarone Blu-ray in the next couple of weeks. Thursday 27th October concert repertoire: First half CYRANO DE BERGERAC – Overture THE ALAMO – Overture/Prologue; Davy Crockett; The Battle of the Alamo THE OLD MAN AND THE SEA – Theme; Cubana & Finale THE FOUR POSTER – Overture GIANT – Prelude; Love Theme; Finale THE FALL OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE – “The Fall of Love” World Concert Premiere Song: “Do Not Forsake Me, Oh My Darlin’” from HIGH NOON Song: “Rawhide” from RAWHIDE THE HIGH AND THE MIGHTY – Suite Second Half THE GUNS OF NAVARONE – Prologue & Main Title HITCHCOCK SUITE – Dial M for Murder; Strangers on a Train Song: “Wild is the Wind” from WILD IS THE WIND THE SUNDOWNERS – Main Title CIRCUS WORLD (aka THE MAGNIFICENT SHOWMAN) “The John ‘Duke” Wayne March” LAND OF THE PHARAOHS - Song: “Land of the Pharaohs” & Pharaoh’s Procession FRIENDLY PERSUASION – The Fair; Song: “Thee I Love” SEARCH FOR PARADISE World Concert Premiere
