Noteworthy alternate arrangments John Williams music

The "Top Gear" thread made me aware that there are actually very interesting and good alternate arrangments of John Williams music out there.

The Hymn To The Fallen cue performed by Katherine Jenkins is just one.

Do you have other favorites? Please post them in this thread!

I have some:

- Schindler's List (Giora Feidman). A long, 7 minute + suite which is nicely arranged and is quite different from the original soundtrack.

- The Star Wars Theme by Tomita. Synthesized, yes, but the main theme itself is whistled and gives it a cool, funky, Morricone sound.

- The Return Of The Jedi suite arranged by Steven Rosenhaus and performed by the Orlando Pops Orchestra. Steven incorporated The Imperial March and actually changed some of the melody in a cool way!

 I'm embarrassed to admit this, but the first version of Star Wars that I heard was the theme by Meco. I was a little kid, and it played on the radio, and I taped it. I still listen to it occasionally - it takes me back to when all I knew of Star Wars was this little disco theme, and some pictures in kids' magazines. (I was living in England at the time, so Star Wars had opened huge in the States, and we were all waiting for it to open in England). When I finally saw Star Wars at Leicester Square in London during it's first week of release, I was totally blown away by the movie and by the music.

Oh dear. The Orlando Pops Orchestra? I'll have to relistened to it. But I say this: Orlando Pops did the WORST, WORST, WORST recording of Adventures on Earth. A complete mess. Disaster. The orchestra members were all over the place.

There are several excellent Brass Band arrangements of Williams' Music......someone posted here a while back (our now-famous Neil, I think) about a suite from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, arranged by Ray Farr, which is worth tracking down (recorded by the Grimethorpe Colliery UK Coal Band on the album "Movie Brass"....

Darrol Barry has recently done a great version of the Superman March for Brass Band, Frank Bernaerts has done a stunning version of Hymn to the Fallen for Brass Band and Choir, Rieks Van Der Velde has done an outstanding arrangement of Summon the Heroes, and Steve Sykes' version of 1941 is a blistering arrangement......

The midi arrangments found on the original Tie Fighter and X-Wing games are really nice! It doesn't sound cheap at all... reminds me of one of my favorite score : THE DIG

Really can't think anything except Gerhardt's concert version of Han Solo And The Princess.

But that was arranged by Williams himself and I wouldn't classify it as an "alternate arrangment".
