Sandor 459
Lacy's Theme and Nuclear Man...Were these REALLY composed by Williams? How do we know that? Were they ever released? Is there a boot available? And......Are they any good? Thanks!
Ollie 859
I'm kinda skeptical although Alexander Courage did say Williams provided him with two themes. I haven't seen the movie in years and to my knowledge there was no soundtrack release nor any bootleg available.
Indiana_Fett 0
I would actually like to hear Nuclear Man's theme.
Romão 1,931
With name, it doesn't even deserve a Williams theme.
John Crichton 4
I can never hear that name without thinking of the far superiorMr. Neutron!
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 10,251
Lacy's Theme and Nuclear Man...Were these REALLY composed by Williams? How do we know that? Alexander Courage (Superman IVs composer) had in interview with Jeff Bond years ago.He talked about his collaboration with John Williams, and mentioned John Williams wrote 2 new themes for that film. Greg1138 2
The music really is the best part of this film, which is a guilty pleasure of mine.....especially since it finally came to DVD in the UK recently.....I have no idea which themes were actually composed by Williams, but there are new themes within the film that, frankly, belong to a much better movie than this and do not come from the previous Superman movies.....There is no boot available to my knowledge, and the OST release did not contain any of Williams new stuff.....but look out later this year when there may be a 5.1 release of the movie which should hopefully make things eminently more rippable.....EDIT - I am reliably informed (since I have previously been reliably MIS-informed) that Superman IV has never had an OST release....... ashinyobject 0
can someone with the dvd extract the score? I'd like to hear what Williams supposedly wrote.
robthehand 3
Especially Nuclear Man flying backwards... Huh???? I must look harder!!!I hope Marc doesn't mind if I post a very, very, very, very short clip (only a few seconds)...?Link (watch the background, he's actually going backwards)Also, I guess that's Nuclear Man's theme playing in the background? #SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 10,251
I haven't seen that film for years, but I recall a 4 note based theme for Nuclear Man.
Trent B 317
I'm surprised they didn't catch the scenary(sp?) going backwards before they finished the film. That's too funny.I haven't seen Superman IV in years either. Hopefully this year I'll be buying the box set.
jasonblueeyes 0
I remember these themes. Nuclear Man's theme is basically a 6 note theme extremely identical to The Emperor and Cinque's theme.Lacy's theme is very lush, soft, even sexy. It's kind of like soft romantic Morricone I don't quite know what else to compare it to (maybe Alex's theme from Witches Of Eastwick - a little.) Miguel Andrade 964
I have ripped a few bits of this score from an old tape a few years ago, and made it available in my site back then. I'm sure a few people around here must have those files.I got just last month the DVD, in the hope I could get cleaner versions of the themes, but since this is a 2.0 mix, I was only able to get the same thing in DVD sound, instead of the noise VHS tape sound.Let's hope for teh 5.1 mix... Henry B 49
I just found a site that features ten tracks from the Superman IV score (128 kbps MP3). Most of them are DVD rips, some with a lot of sound effects, some without. "Superman's United Nations Speech" comes with sound fully intact... hilarious. This site also features the entire score to Superman - The Movie, the music-only DVD audio track, countless trailers, interviews, etc., so I suppose I had best not post it. If you're interested in the site, though, PM me.I must say that Courage's arrangement and performance of the main theme reminds me of Ottman's. Just kidding; it's actually much worse. Interesting material nonetheless.
Lurker 5
I must say that Courage's arrangement and performance of the main theme reminds me of Ottman's. Just kidding; it's actually much worse. Interesting material nonetheless.Wasn't Courage's main title based off of the alternate main title found on the Rhino CD? I find that much more satisfying than Ottman's variation. And why can't you just provide a link to CapedWonder.com?Neil
Ollie 859
Yes Superman IV's title is based one of the alternates on the Rhino CD.

However, Courage's recording features a really embarassing cut to the love theme at 2:05 that is not present in the original alternate march. The only problem I have with Ottman's edit is the abrupt ending. And why can't you just provide a link to CapedWonder.com?If you say so. Since the site features the entire score to Superman - The Movie in high-fidelity MP3 form, I thought it best not posted.

Indiana_Fett 0
Nuclear Man's theme reminds me more of the Philosopher's Stone theme, rather than Cinque or the Emperor.
King Mark 2,924
I only remember 1 cue from Superman 4.At some point the "b" section of the Superman theme is played in a ceremonial way when Superman is walking to the city hall or something..It's not in these MP3's.the Nuclear man theme sounds like GoldsmithK.M. Ollie 859
It may have been there during the scoring process and then cut after the first screening.
