I'll stick to my 63 min bootleg version which feature raw recording sessions and rehearsals thank you very much. So FSM...you can keep it.

There is no such thing as a Checkmate bootleg. Waht floats around are private CD-R made from LP rips -- some better, some worst.

The only thing I really miss on this realease is the versions from the singles released at the time -- there were at least three diferent singles released, and, if my memory serves me, two diferent versions from two themes. Actually, I think that one of this was available only on single.

Too bad, as they could ahve fit them there. But in the end it really doesn't matter as I have those singles anyway :P

Personally, I love this one, and hope that FSM or someone else is able to release the actual soundtrack recordings at some time.

Miguel, who's going to lsiten to his bootleg of The Wrong Man to get in the mood :)

I'm holding out for the ultimate edition of Hugo Friedhoffer CDs that will be released soon.

I will hold off ordering the bernstein box until the very last moment when they reached the "limit one per customer" mark. Hopefully, it will be around for a while due to the price tag.

Well Varese's Goldsmith box sold out in only a few days, didn't it?

But then as far as the Goldsmith box goes:

a) it was probably more widely appealing

B) it was cheaper

c) there were 500 less

d) Varese is a much more popular label than Film Score Monthly

I guess the Bernstein box might be available for a while, then.

And Varese did not do anything like "limit to one per customer" when the Goldsmith box was running low. With 2000 units on hand, priced at 200 bucks and containing lots of previously released music mostly recorded with a much smaller ensemble, I would guess that it will be around for a couple of months at least.
