Does Williams ever take a lesser fee for certain films?

Angela's Ashes at a guess?

Like your regular A-list movie star who wants to be in a Woody Allen film regardless of their usual pay check, has Williams ever gone on record as having received a cut-down fee for his musical talents? Say, a director he really wanted to work with, or a project he had a particular fondness for.

Its funny how we all know what figure Tom Cruise gets for his latest film (often dross), yet we can't find out what a composer gets paid. Well, not that funny maybe, for obvious reasons, but you would still think there would be a source for all this shit.

Like, how much does Michael Kahn get paid every time he cuts a movie. Thats not a question, just an example.

Yes, I'm pretty sure he works for less in some projects. And he sure works for free in some of his concert works. There was one, I think that he offered to the orchestra, maybe the BSO, but i don't remember which one was.

Some website once posted the entire budget for The Village which included the music budget in full detail.

James Newton Howard was already in there with 1.200.000,00 US-$. Now Williams certainly must earn more as the most requested and well-known composer ever. In these dimensions, one might expect that he would also work for less if he feels that the picture is worth the effort.

I wonder how much money Emmerich and Devlin threw at him to come in and do The Patriot at the last minute. Bet it wasn't a discount price.

My friend said back in high he was at a band competition and there was a judge there who said, "John Williams just made 5 Million for Chamber of Secrets." We all know how much work he did on that one, so.... My guess is that a film such as star wars episode iii where his music is an icon and he write a lot of new material he banks 5-10 million, on stuff like memiors he settles for 2-5.

Well, it's like this: think about Star Wars without JW, and then think about how much GL and Co. need him, and you gotta figure he's worth 10M per film. I guarantee that if he didn't score the prequels I wouldn't have seen them 3-4 times a piece in the theater.

In addition to the payment for the job, there are always the royalties from the album sales which I am sure are the lions share of his income. Especially with such mainstream scores as Star Wars or Harry Potter.

I bet Williams did Heartbeeps at a discount.

Didn't someone mention that the money set aside for the music/composer also include the fees for the orchestra, orchestrators and just about everything else associated with the score?

I wonder.

Williams first wife died of cancer didn't she, just like the Susan Sarandon character.

Could that have been what drawn him to this project, together with the fact that Columbus was directing it?

Barbara Ruick died of brain hemoragee.

JW has to be pretty damn wealthy, right?  Like he makes at least $25,000 US per year.

You consider this "pretty damn wealthy"?

That makes me feel good cause then that quite possibly makes me a millionaire.
