Where is it? I've heard talk about it in so many reviews and so frequently on this site... yet I have never been able to identify it. Can some of you name places in his more famous scores (i.e. Legends of the Fall, Braveheart, Titanic, Enemy at the Gates, etc.) where it appears? --Pelzter, who thinks he may have identified it in Troy, but isn't sure
What, exactly, is the Dies Irae motif? I've learned that it was from a "Latin Requiem Mass" and that Rachmaninov was apparently obsessed with it, and has been used by a lot of people like Berlioz and Saint-Saƫns, among others... But what is it? When ever I listened to a Requiem, I never picked up on any similarities in the motif, like Verdi, Mozart, Faure, etc... Tim
