deleted account 108 Posted June 24, 2006 Share Posted June 24, 2006 (and he avoids copyright infringement).Actually maybe not - if the publishing to the score for Psycho is owned by one entity (such as Univeral Studios) and the publishing for the score to Taxi Driver is owned by another (such as MGM), then he would TECHNICALLY be violating copyright law if he quoted the former in the latter without getting permission from the publisher (i.e. Universal Studios). Isn't copyright law strange?True story - in GIVE MY REGARDS TO BROAD STREET, Paul Mccartney had to get legal permission, in the form of mechanical and sychronization licenses, to include performances of him doing "Yesterday" and other Beatles songs, from the publishing company that controls those songs, Northern Songs, a company which McCartney has no ownership in (AFIK).
