I'd say perhaps, but the JAWS Motif is a strong contender...

Oh I think Jaws is perhaps even more famous than the Superman ostinato.

It's interesting, but did anyone else notice the use of the the Superman ostinato in X-Men 3? I think it was in the final prison scene, or somewhere, but the snares and maybe basses were going with that same rhythm. Intentional, subconscious, or coincidence?

The main theme of that film (most noticeably in the track "Bathroom Titles" on the album) is pretty much based around the ostinato. But the film version of the main titles is a bit different, perhaps for this reason?

Nearly forgot about Bolero. But Jaws was definitely the first thing I thought of. I also thought of the repeated figures in the Imperial March and Duel of the Fates, and the repeating bass rhythms in the opening of Arnaud's Bugler's Dream.

sorry, beethoven wins actually. dumdumdum daaaaa. tho its not an ostinato, it is far more recognized than dummmmmmmmmmda.
