ChrisAfonso 159
I'd say perhaps, but the JAWS Motif is a strong contender...
Incanus 5,519
I'd say perhaps, but the JAWS Motif is a strong contender...Oh I think Jaws is perhaps even more famous than the Superman ostinato.

bruckhorn 72
Heck, I can't help but step in it.What about the ostinato from Mars by Gustav Holst?
Docteur Qui 1,248
I'd say the opening bars from the Imperial March are up there too (though most people wait until the melody comes in before getting excited).
Eric_JWFAN 11
Definitely Jaws.. Also Ravel's Bolero and Chopin's Funeral March (2nd Piano Sonata 3rd mvmt)
RomanticStrings 9
It's interesting, but did anyone else notice the use of the the Superman ostinato in X-Men 3? I think it was in the final prison scene, or somewhere, but the snares and maybe basses were going with that same rhythm. Intentional, subconscious, or coincidence?~Conor
Docteur Qui 1,248
The main theme of that film (most noticeably in the track "Bathroom Titles" on the album) is pretty much based around the ostinato. But the film version of the main titles is a bit different, perhaps for this reason?
Datameister 1,394
I'd have to agree that Jaws is better-known. Bolero popped into my mind too, Eric, but I don't think that's quite as well-known.
KingPin 194
Nearly forgot about Bolero. But Jaws was definitely the first thing I thought of. I also thought of the repeated figures in the Imperial March and Duel of the Fates, and the repeating bass rhythms in the opening of Arnaud's Bugler's Dream.
